Of course, we do not know exactly what this set entails aside from the toys found in it. With this shipping at the same time that wave 2 deluxes are received by online retailers, this could simply be a listing for all the individual bots but done as one order. Also, it is worth noting that while the silhouette has a sword that we do not have yet, it is not a silhouette of the combined toy. Instead it is the Volcanicus character model from the Earth Wars video game.
The preorder is listed at $169.99 and we thank TF fan Jonathan for letting us know about this listing.

I would hope that the boxset does come with a sword, but not the upsized FOC Grimlock sword seen in Earth Wars. I would want a sword whose design was more in line with the G1 Dinobot swords, and which was possibly a combining weapon like Victorion's sword.
I would also like to see a G2 Volcanicus boxset, because I am a sucker for G2 color schemes (just look at my avatar, I think that says it all).

Personally, I would be quite peeved to be getting a G2 Volcanicus before a G2 Defensor.... There is a gaping hole in my G2 combiners where Defensor MUST be.

It's all of $12 more than their price for buying the set individually.

* Ultra Magnus: ...Enough said, really.
* Megatron: Evolving to most likely Galvatron (corresponding with Rodimus Prime) or else maybe to Super or Ultra Megatron.
* Thunderwing: Adaptation of his Mega Pretender gimmick
* Star Saber: "Evolving" from Saber to Star Saber, working basically like the original toy.
* Optimus Primal (yes, I say this is obvious): Evolving from his regular body to the Optimal Optimus body, since that fits with the Prime themeing and also works better size and engineering-wise than having him evolve to the Transmetal body.
Evolving Megatron, Thunderwing and Star Saber would have been cool. I don't think Ultra Magnus would have worked, considering his lesser known "repaint of Optimus" inner body (not to mention they already did something similar with Minimus Ambus).

Legends are $11
Deluxe are around $18
Voyagers are $25
So at retail those 6 figures should AT MOST be $108. That's a far cry from $170

Which is why Toywiz's price of $29.99 for swoop is insane.

All their prices are ridiculous including $169.99 for a box set.

Sadly, it seems Takara's golden age of repaints and retools that make people feel smug about buying them is unfortunately over.

I'm not trying to be contrary, but I'm genuinely curious, as I'm sure others are (hence not sending you a PM), why discussing the Power of the Primes poll in the Power of the Primes thread is off topic? It isn't exactly timely, but it seems topical with all of the Optimal Optimus talk that it spawned from.

Yes, I know Dinoking was a Monstructor repaint but an update would make more sense as the Dinobot combiner with new colors and maybe heads, either individual heads for robots or a new combiner head. Then add a 5mm port on top of Grimlock's dinohead to peg in a parts-forming yellow chest armor and he's good to go.

I'm definitely all for a Dinoking repaint of the Dinobots since that was an actual G1 dinosaur combiner that existed. I'm also wondering if there was ever confirmation of a Waverider Prime Master coming out. My Masterforce Autobot collection wouldn't be complete with just Metalhawk, Cloudburst, & Landmine.

Because when I was catching up, a good portion of said discussion centred around Trypticon and his lack of a premium release.

I seem to remember ToyWiz doing something similar with Superion & Menasor a few years ago. I double checked at the time & it wasn't a Unite Warriors set or a special box set, just the 5 separate figures sold as a bundle. I'm guessing they are doing the same thing here, but time will tell.

I agree, only a complete moron buys anything from them.

I like it, but I can't help but wonder wtf went through the designer's mind. It's so out of left field for a 'good guy leader bot' toy, where nearly all Autobot/Maximals leader characters had stuck to red and/or blue, even with Primal's original body using white, red and blue for accents and his Transmetal form having chromed blue for the main color of beast mode.
Can't help but think that, had Beast Wars somehow been made later, they would have opted for the more logical color scheme of Primal Prime.

Possible Power of the Primes Volcanicus Box Set Coming Soon
AH! Saw this coming from a mile away. However, make the set G2 colors. Then I'll be all over it. If it's the same deco, I'll skip it like the single dinos.
My top priorities remain Abobinus and Predaking.
Speaking of Predaking, why many people said it was "underwhelming"? Because from the pictures shown, it look quite awesome.

But the nearly-identical (except for that weirdo, Swoop) deco is arguably one of the strongest points on Volcanicus, making him way more visually coherent than any CW/PotP team except Victorion.

That was based on preliminary rumors, plus the lack of knowledge on the PotP Combiner setup (no 6th members for combining!). However...

Despite everyone's hopes for a true box set, I find this to be the most likely scenario in all honesty, until other stores post listings for it.

Not that I mean it in a bad way, I find that it makes him certainly stand out from all other Optimuses (Optimi?) even more than all his previous forms, what with that bright orange but I cannot deny how odd a color scheme it is. It's just such a drastic departure both from previous Optimus figures and from Primal's own primarily grey/brown color schemes with blue accents, what with replacing most of what was previous grey or some shade of brown in his two previous forms with a bright orange and some metallic burgundy.

Action masters Optimus prime comes to mind as does gobot Optimus prime. OP completely messing with the classic color scheme does happen occasionally. Also, it could be meant originally to envoke another autobot leader that got a power up from getting something out of OP's chest. He also happened to be burgundy and orange.

That's what I find cool of their later forms: when you put them in a crowd of their namesake you can instantly pick them out which really help establish them as unique and distinct characters from the others of that name.
Edit: I'd say my favorite 'wtf recolor' of Optimus in recent years has to be this guy:
Sure, I use him as Nova Prime but I have to admit that this is a very, very nice color scheme for Optimus Prime. It looks regal, almost holy.

He's my favorite to, for those same reason.
And the Star Convoy-esque head.

I also realize that it's a much more realistic color scheme for the kind of truck Optimus is supposed to be. Most trailer trucks I see tend to be black, white or blue: very few if any red.

He does look awesome, but there are some aspects that leave me a bit underwhelmed. Like the long kibble backpack of the leg componenets in robot mode, the lack of gold on the predaking wings, Divemomb's alt mode looking pretty bad, the lack of a big sword for predaking and the lack of spike on the knuckles.

We wont. All evidence points to this just being the 6 individual bots sold in a lot.

Will, Cindersaur might have been done to give the Terrorcons a little buddy, and as an easy way to add another Legends-class Decepticon. If one factors Masterforce into account, he also works as a cartoon-colors Guzzle Sparkdash drone
Battle Core Optimus' scheme isn't that out there, it's like a less-monochrome version of Ultra Magnus' cab robot. What's out there is the eBay prices for CW Optimus... dear gods..
Speaking of Optimus, Evolution Optimus Prime is the least-appealing to me of the Leader-class molds in this line. He's oversize and takes away the value of having Optimus' original trailer IMO. I still plan to get him, but mainly for Orion Pax!

I like it just because it's NOT the usual Red and Blue. And because you can use him with other deluxes (Prowl, Jazz, Rook, Mirage, etc.) to make a white combiner - handy for camouflage in places like the arctic I guess...

CW Silverbolt.. Altered versions of the mold would be Cyclonus, Hasbro Scattershot, Takara Scattershot, and Sky Lynx. Recolors add in G2 Silverbolt and UW Cyclonus if you count him separately.
Both of them are rivaling the original Combaticon molds as far as recolored releases go. Which considering that between G1 Bruticus, Battle Gaia, G2 Bruticus, Car Robots Baldigus, RiD Ruination, Urban Camo Ruination, and Desert Camo Ruination those have been done 7 times.. That's saying something.

Something having 100% different parts does not mean it was made from scratch. Quite the opposite, we now have confirmation that Hun Gurr is based on Silverbolt's engineering and can be considered a retool according to the toy industry (where a toy is either made from scratch or not).
