Seibertron.com member s250 has posted a image and gave us a titbit of information. He states that just recently the assembly lines of a Has/Tak factory has seen a run of Energon Shockblast figures. But in the original Energon colors so it's not a repaint.
Is this a 25th anniversary Energon Shockblast/Shockwave?

Re: probably 25th Anniversary Shockwave??

As the only confirmation we have is a photo we should tell you to take this with a grain of salt.

I hope with all my heart that this is true!

I missed out on the first run of this guy so even if he is not a repaint I would still buy him

It would be really excellent though if they gave him a more G1 color scheme or possibly a pack in mini-con or some such 8)

Either way if this comes to shelves IT SHALL BE MINE!

So does this mean the 25th Anniv. line will continue into ROTF? I wonder if he'd come in the 08/09 Universe packaging or as an ROTF figure? I guess it all depends on his release date.

If they put this out, I am going to buy it. I would like to see it look a little more G1 (different hand, more purple) but either way, I am on it.

I agree. Either remold it with a proper gun arm instead of the kibble cannon, or give us a new mold. I'm not buying the same figure twice.

I wouldnt mind them reissuing this. I was never able to find the purple version. Id rather have a brand new mold but if this is true im defiantly going to pick one up. I thought every line was canceled or put on hold because of ROTF. So does this mean universe is still going to be around? I hope so because this is the only way we're going to see all those canceled animated figures.

He needs 2 new arms, his right claw hand ain't so useful either :P

It's a nice figure, but I already have the original in my Classics display. And as much as I love Shockwave I probably won't be buying this new version. Or maybe I will and just lease it MISB

What a freaking slap in the face! I realize that Has/Tak doesn't have the original Shockwave mold but they can't even go to the effort of doing a new mold for a 25th Anniv. edition of the Decepticons #2 bad-ass?? While I have to admit that I have the Energon Shockwave and I do find him to be an amusing and rather well done tribute to the original, he's not so impressive that he can be any kind of anniversary figure. If this is in fact what is happening, and I know I went off without any confirmation and I admit it, but if this is being used for this purpose than it is just sheer laziness on the companys part. That thing isn't worthy of the Universe line as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I should have just said "Pass" but I feel really strongly about the way the TF line is going lately and I don't think it's entirely fair to the fans. There are certain lines that we know are going to be centered more towards us and while we get a lot of lip service from the big corporations the final product is lately starting to look more like a giant middle finger in the face of the die hard supporters.

You all are reading my mind. The moment I saw this post, I thought, "why not give us a new Classics Shockwave and really do him justice?"

I only own 1 Energon figure and it's Shockblast-and I really don't want two.

It was a weak mold. I'd be more excited by a larger, more detailed version of Animated Shockwave than this.

Good to know, and I hope we find out more soon.

Engergon Shockblast and/or Sixshot are on my Botcon list to look for. If the mold is getting re-issued I'd rather wait and pick it up for $20 than $40-$60 or whatever the dealers will ask for it.

Agreed though, if it is Universe Shockwave that is a bit sad. ROTF and even 2007 movie got a ton of new toy molds, some hideous looking and poor Shockwave can't even get 1 new mold?

Hasbro, the cows called. They want you to stop milking them so many bloody times.

Energon Shockblast is meh. I have a soft spot for the Armada and Energon, but 25th Anniversary...... should be something that is Old(er).

The more I think about this, the more potential I have for getting angry.

IF they killed the 25th Anniversary line for ROTF (which seems to be the case) then I'm going to be angry with this new figure.

IF they plan on keeping it going with repaints and remolds of classic beloved characters in a new box with the silver anniversary logo on it, then I'm going to be angry.

Those are both big ifs (though most likely confirmed on the first one...) so I'll remain anger free for the moment.

Though, we should be up in arms if the second if comes true. That's not a 25th Anniversary. That's a slap in the face.

I just bought Energon Shockwave recently for likely more more money than I would pay for a rerelease at retail, so if he's coming out again that will annoy me...

Like anyone else, I'd VERY much like to see an ORIGINAL Universe Shockwave...And a Masterpiece Shockwave would get buried with me when I die...

What I don't understand is everyone saying if they rerelease Energon Shockwave they should give him a new arm...I mean, yeah his arm is rediculously huge but if you replaced it with something else then you just killed his alt modes...That wouldn't even remotely make sense for them to give him a new arm...

I actually don't have any version of that particular mold, so I'd probably get it, anyway.

As for the fears about Universe turning (back) into just repaints and re-releases, I kinda doubt it. Yes, there were numerous repaints in the Classics/Universe line, but also many new molds, including several positively outstanding ones. I'm laying odds on it coming back after RotF has run its course, with a combo of new molds and repaints/remolds.

They most likely pushed the 25th figs back until the movie figs have run their course. They did it before and will do it again I am certain of that.

Normally, I'd agree with you, but they said the only product for 2009 was ROTF and the remainder of Animated.

Anything pertaining to Universe was "2010" or "We don't have plans at this time" or "We can't speak of what's to come beyond the 2009 product line. Might return in 2010."

Universe was the only line that carried the silver badge, so I'd assume it's say to say it's done.

And if they did continue the anniversary next year, that's just silly. It's not the anniversary.

...though I can see them using that as a sales tactic. I don't have a high opinion of Hasbro at the moment.

You seem to be forgetting that Universe started LAST year and was not "25th Anniversary" then...Nor was it when it was "Classics"...So I don't see how the whole anniversary thing would have anything to do with whether or not it returns...

Uh...no.

That's not what I'm saying.

Universe will return from it's "hiatus" in 2010. (They pretty much said as much without actually saying the words.)

They started stamping the logo on the Universe boxes and cards which officially made it the 25th. Anniversary line for the year. ROTF and Animated both go sans logo stamp.

Now, Universe will return as it's supposed to, and I hope it stays just Universe. I don't want them slapping that logo on the packages for two reasons:

1.) It won't be the anniversary year. (It'd be a lie, really.)
2.) As you mentioned, Universe was Universe before they slapped that logo on, and it should be Universe (only!) when it returns. Slapping that logo on is just a desperate attempt to get the figures sold a bit better than they normally would.

I mean it couldn't possibly be that the figures themselves are worth the dough, oh no. They have to wear that whored out stamp to be worth anything, and even then it didn't save them from this year's chopping block.

I'm angry with Hasbro, not the fans, or the toys themselves. How we and they were handled, pisses me off.

It's a slap in the face to restart the anniversary when we really didn't get the celebration. At that point it'd just be to sell extra figures.

Screw that.

YES! Thank You! Aside from some grumbling from a few folks who are typically (but usually justifiably in their own right) down on a lot of the products I was starting to wonder if it really was just me that was feeling majorly slighted by Hasbros offerings over the last year or so. I was actually expecting negative feedback when I made my post early on in this thread and I was genuinely surprised to see so many posts from people who felt the same wayas me.
Sure, the economy sucks and they may not be able to produce what they CLAIM they ideally would like to but I think the reality is that they have the ability but not the desire to keep the whole range of their consumers happy.
They want to mass produce and/or recylce crap and pawn it off on the unenlightened and we are making that problematic because of our scrutiny. The only way to get rid of that scrutiny is to make things so disappointing for so long that we give up and go away. The new Movies are bringing enough new victims in for them that our loss is going to be negligible from Hasbros standpoint. They are quite capable of running multiple lines at once so this whole thing of focusing on only RotF for the rest of the year is just them blowing smoke up our butts and trying to see how many of us they can shake off while they pick up new followers with the 2nd movies release.
They're Plastic Crack dealers, this stuff isn't giving us a "buzz" anymore so they'll cut us off and find an easier mark that will get a buzz off their inferior crap, pay more money for it and be happy to get it. Hasbro should be selling Meth. The economy might start picking up then.

Not a prob. When I get heated up like that, I tend to ramble and make not an ounce of sense.

And yes, it's anger inducing.

I will support ROTF, I have no problem doing that, but at least do it to us the right way. Not like how they've handled it so far.

From what I hear, TFCC has just canceled their preorders of Animated Arcee and Electrostatic Soundwave, (along with Rodimus and Wing Blade Optimus) saying something along the lines of "This product isn't being produced" or something to that effect.

And people have said their preorders were terminated.

So....yeah. Not good news.

And T-Macksimus...

They're going where the guaranteed money is. And further proving that the public, the masses are puppeted tools who will buy anything once you slap a new cost of paint on it.

In a way, I'd like to see the toyline fail, so Hasbro learns not to put all of their eggs in one basket and also not to screw us faithfuls who've been here for years. But they repeatedly tell us we have little to no say in what goes on, so they "kindly" give us homages and tidbits as a thank you. (Riiiight.)

*sighs* I don't know anymore. Takara's looking better all the time, even with terrible QC.

Yaeh, I know about them following the money. I've pointed that out to others on numerous occasions. What I'm getting at is the fact that they make a show of wanting input from us and stroke our egos by telling us how much they belive that us older fans and collectors are a valuable assest. Being walked on I can handle, what I don't like is someone trying to blow sunshine up my butt while they're lacing up their spiked shoes.

I've been pretty disappointed with what Hasbro has offered
in the Anniversary line so far.

When the GI Joe stuff came out it was exciting because they seemed to be pushing out all the figures I remembered as a kid.

The TF 25th stuff has been no comparison. A little bit of this
and a little bit of that, and nothing, except Cyclonus, has been
inspiring and really made me want to collect it.
That has been the case with the Universe line since it's earliest inception, (not the Classics continuation stuff as that is just a canceled toy line packed into a regularly crummy line) and it seems fitting that they would clump the 2 ideas together.

Hasbro can wonder and wonder why thier sales are slumping
and just be like "Uh, I don' know why we not making money."
all they want. I know why, and it's because they keep giving us less for more and many of us have caught up with that ploy.

Energon Shockblast is a fine toy I'm sure, wouldn't know, never opened mine. But I wouldn't buy another one just because the box has a "25th Annv" stamp on it.

I WOULD like to remind everyone there are a lot of heated feelings here over something that is pure speculation at this point...I mean, this thread started with a picture and absolutely no description and we've all just sort of run off with it from there...Even the OP didn't sound completely sure what this was...

We're all ranting about remolded arms and 25th Anniversaries and what-not but nothing even remotely official has been stated about ANY of that...Just keep that in mind :)

That said, I do feel pretty cheated buy our "glorious" 25th Anniversary...There hasn't really been anything that's come out with the "25th" stamp on it that seemed any more remarkable than anything we'd gotten the year before...Sure Cyclonus and Hound were great but I'm pretty sure they would have come out anyway...Really the ONLY thing specifically anniversary related was the G1 Optimus Prime reissue package and that was nothing short of insulting...

All labels aside though, if I hadn't just purchased an Energon Shockblast, I'd be pretty thrilled they were re-releasing him (just like I was with Unicron)...You can complain about his arm all you want but I think he's a great figure and his satellite mode is awesome :D

It's too bad that Hasbro has never been able to come up with a new Shockwave mold that they could use...

...oh wait--THEY DID. Remember the Titanium Shockwave prototype that got canned? Relase that in the Universe line, Hasbro, ya pinheads!
