What a busy late night/early morning for news! Hasbro and Takara have been hitting us left and right with fantastic news and it's not even close to over because we have two new G1 reissue listings to get your blood pumpin', your wallet open and your significant others angry!
Up first, a gem we've covered before (we're not going to jump to the good stuff just yet, it's worth the wait!)
Platinum Edition Reissues of Blaster and Perceptor, plus a ton of awesome cassette bots and accessories! (AKA The Autobot Intel Ops Set)
Available for preorder right now on Seibertron.com sponsor TFSource's website for the asking price of $119.95 with a release date of July. (You can see the originals and their reissues in our galleries by clicking here for Blaster and here for Perceptor.)
And now, the BIG news...
Platinum Edition Decepticon City Trypticon! (Yes, you read that right!)
No images are available at the current time, other than the toy placeholder provided by TFSource.
The current pricing is $199.99 and his release date is also in July. This, coupled with the big news of SDCC Devastator, it's looking like late summer (July, specifically) is ramping up to be the hottest (as well as one of the most expensive!) seasons in Transformer collecting!
It's a great time to be a Transformers fan and collector, and we need to soak this in while we can because gems like this don't always come along and may not again in the future, so get those wallets ready!
Keep your optics tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest in news and updates, plus the best galleries around!

The key difference with this Perceptor is his microscope is supposed (key word: supposed) to function legitimately for the first time in the history of the figure. Those are apparently specimen plates that come with the set. It's awesome if true.

My vintage version still magnifies stuff.

*Not to say that, in theory, I wouldn't love to have it. It just wouldn't fit in with my collection. And $200 is a lot to spend for something like that!

Somehow, I WILL afford a Trypticon.
Posted by triKlops on May 22nd, 2015 @ 10:14am CDT
I finally have a chance to own a crispy, clean version; this will be an instabuy when it hits.
I had this discussion with my local collectors group a couple of months ago, when this was still a rumor, and 200 is my wallet ceiling for him.
As for the other reissues, i have the ones i need on preorder and wish good luck to those waiting on theirs.

kirbenvost wrote:$200? Man, that's pretty crazy, especially with the exchange rate as it is. Hopefully this ends up coming out TRU, otherwise I don't think I can afford it
Same here. Though I can't say I'm surprised. The insecticons are 100$ so we all assumed something like Trypticon couldn't be less than 200$ and we were all proven right. But you never know. I was able to find the insecticons for 50$ (canadian, so 40$ US) total, the conehead seekers are available at Walmart.ca for pretty cheap and will undoubtedly be even cheaper in an eventual sale. Even fortmax is super reduced now, all considering, and he is an encore figure that didnt get as wide a distribution as this guy will get. So while I am not in a rush to get Trypitcon (I already own a very naked version of the G1 toy), I am not giving up on him entirely.
Looking much more forward to the Blaster and Perceptor set, I hope it gets to walmart
Oh and for anyone keeping tabs, this Trypticon release marks the end of the initial G1 releases of this year:
He goes on to mention some G1 Reissue news with the following names listed:
- Blaster
- Perceptor
- Insecticon
- Trypticon
- G1 cone head set
The only rumour left would be the rumour of G1 dinobots being rereleased as a platinum set but that one came later and may be referring to Hasbro rereleasing the SDCC dinobot set which featured the G1 colours on updated AOE molds.

Trypticon was never reissued in original form. Not even as a regular reissue, Transformers Collection or Encore. If you got the Trypticon from China... "China" and "Reissue" combined usually means "Fake".

After that, I paid a kingdom's ransom for the black and white commemorative Astrotrain MISB. I openned him up and applied the stickers. Man, he's glorious looking. Way prettier than the original IMO.
All in all, I didn't save any $ on both figures compared to the recent re-issue. However, I got them in the colors I wanted.

I only have the RTS version of Perceptor, but have always been disappointed by his alternate mode being a vehicle.
Blaster seems to be the same version as the SDCC 2010 reissue, which I've already got.

Perceptor on his own eh? Honestly I don't think the secondary market prices for the TRU Commemorative Reissue are that bad
I'm in the same boat as you though. I have Takara TFC Blaster reissue, so this (albeit awesome) Blaster/Perceptor set does nothing for me. I figure I'll eventually snag a TRU reissue.

Amelie wrote:I hope Trypticon is in a gharish g2-styled redeco. Like a snow leopard print with neon-pink details.
That may be stretch but given how this one came out of nowhere aside from the rumors here's hoping we all eventually get a G1 Scorponok. Let's all pray that this sells like hotcakes!

Thanks for the welcome!
Yup, I'll have to keep an eye out for one too. I really want that microscope alternate mode that I always wanted but never had as a kid

When dealing with eBay, patience is a virtue. On average he appears to sell between 30-50 bucksomgitstraxx wrote:Yup, I'll have to keep an eye out for one too. I really want that microscope alternate mode that I always wanted but never had as a kid

Focus on what you want most and save for it. Once you get it, save for the other one. If it takes a while, that is fine, you have more odds of a sale at a more affordable price point. True, it might end up being sold out but at least by focusing on what you wanted most, there will be no regrets to your decision. Historically speaking though, Hasbro<s Metroplex is now selling for at least double what it was originally sold for while Encore Fortmax is still selling at BBTS and at a discount.
I can't think of any G1 reissue that was available at retail that sold out and was never discounted. If these were limited, there could be cause for worry, but they aren't.
Anyone is free to correct me.

Looks like the decals are already attached just like Piranacon.

Focus on one genre. What is your primary? I'm on G1 vintage. So I focused on it like my Seeker Squad. The UW line comes in 2 month intervals hence I can recharge the funds.

In the Japanese back story, the original Metroplex (Encore#12 recent release) was severely damaged. The reconstruction on him lead to his doubling/tripling size to that of Fortmax. So now, Maybe a new backstory for a generations remake of the big Dino. Though I wish for "less" electronic gimmicks this time.
But nearly 9 years from Tomy/Takara's Metroflex re-issue...........sigh.Now a Hasbor Asia/Platinum release! Our hobbies are quite a bit of a frustration and self flagellation. But rewards are quite priceless once completed.

Btw, for those who want a Titan Class version, good sales on both this and Devastator would probably help convince them to do one.
