Anyone else thinking FunPub will someday repaint this mold as much as possible in response to frustration over its unattainability? Like maybe four Junkions who combine with the HotSpot mold repainted into a garbage truck? Maybe give two of them new heads from the Victorion team so we finally have Nancy and another generic Fem-Junk from the TF:TM dance party?
And I gotta' agree with X on one thing: when the fine print says a unique mold desirable for team completion is gonna' be that hard to acquire outside of Japan, I say KO THE SLAG OUT OF IT!!!
Though I say that partly in hopes that someone gets the message to give it a wider official release.

Say, has Bruticus or any of his repaints ever had a super-move where he pulls all of Blast Off's excess mass out of subspace while throwing a right-cross? They always use the Hasbro figures at this stage of promotion. In about a month or so, we'll see updated official images from Takara Tomy featuring their take on the figures, sportin' a G1 accurate deco if possible.

Totally awesome that Takara is making a completely new Groove. I think I'll get the Takara one and buy that Hasbro armored transport dude individually. Because, you know, I want 'm all.
Which reminds me, still need to get Breakneck & Slingshot (whatever he's called now).
I don't mind the consipracy or an extra team member.

That one teammate killed the other and took his place?
An extra team member eliminates that problem that Defensor had with First Aid. If they had APC guy then Ambulance boy could stay in the junkyard and sit that one out completely.

Well, I guess I didn't need to wait for TFSource to respond to my inquiry, as having a pre-order up answers my question!
The mark-up seems to be only about $25.00, based on the retail of ¥16,200 as given on the Takara Tomy Mall website. While it is certainly $25.00 I'd rather not have to spend, I feel like -- as far as mark-ups go -- that's actually fairly decent. So bullet dodged, it seems. I was scared that this might get closer to the $200.00 range!
Also, as much as a smug arse Rated X has been, I really want to see william-james88 send him an Alpha Bravo now. (Do I get one, too? Is it Alpha Bravos for everyone who orders this set?)

And now, this is after the facts, and people are now getting back to me, like someone taking me up on a boxing fight bet that is now over, it doesnt work that way. So no alpha bravos for anyone, and it seems no Rooks for anyone either
While everyone might be rejoicing, I am still rather pissed at this "exclusivity". My main reason for going the Unite Warriors route was due to price. Preordering them on amiami made them the equivalent price to me buying the hasbro versions in store. But now, I guess amiami wont have those fun preorders at 30% off and instead I am stuck paying a markup I did not expect (which increases my cost by 50$, that's 3 deluxe takara toys at amiami). I will give it some time since I still hope this ends up at the other regular places (a man can dream).

Im guessing you believe 100,000 kids held a mass rally outside of hasbro corporate offices to protest the release of slingshot, wildrider, and groove? I think you are in serious denial about alpha bravo. You really want to believe an IDW artist just came up with the character out of the blue and happened to make him look like vortex but painted like the combiner limb he was replacing ? Pure coincidence right ?

They exist to make money. We all agree on that. They don't exist just to piss off G1 diehards. They exist because Hasbro wanted to switch things up a bit on the combiners and be able to offer a more diverse selection of toys on shelves, as well as to facilitate mold reuse. So instead of 4 jets and 3 cars we got 3 jets, 2 cars, a helicopter, and a truck.

I'll second and third that. 1988 was the greatest, most innovative year of the American G1 toyline. 95% of Offroad's awesomeness stems from him looking like Ruckus replaced his damaged armor plating with parts color-coded for Wildrider. What if say Superion lost lets say Slingshot when he is blown up in arm mode now Superion is lacking an arm or a leg.
That or Firefly is heavily injured and it will take months/years to repair him (doesn't have to be Slingshot with all the problems)
Whats the easiest solution to this predicament?
Back up members would be the only solution to the problem and this is what Alpha Bravo is he is a member who could help the Aerialbots stay in the fight even if a core member is down whether temporarily or permanently.
Neither Rook or Alpha are replacing them an Autobot is not replaceable but Alpha would be carrying Slingshot's legacy.
Plus Rook is replacing no one when Groove is a chestpiece.

It's just that Offroad's head especially seems to actually be based on Ruckus's, so I'd be more surprised if this didn't at least lead to the Club repainting him into purple and manilla.
Although IDR him actually doing it in fiction, his TFU entry describes Ruckus using his nail studded tires to climb walls and come crashing down on Autobots, sending their wheels flying in four directions, which sounds very Stunticonish, though I'm not sure they've done in fiction either.

I think your timeline seems to be a bit off here.
Alpha Bravo's first canonical appearance was in RiD 33 (24/09/14) while we first saw, the complete and finalised design for Alpha Bravo (and the rest of the first two waves) back in July, meaning the design phase was long over by that point.
As has been explained multiple times, Hasbro's original intent was to not have too many of the "same" on the shelves at the time, as kids' parents would be less likely to buy them. Hence the wave distribution - 2 jets, 1 helicopter and 1 race car, then 1 jet, 1 4wd ute and 2 quite different looking cars. Having three or four jets, especially if one was simply a repaint of another, on the shelves at the same time doesn't have that same diversity - which is why it was Air Raid, as a (p)re-tool of Sky Dive, was held back for wave 2. Wave 3 didn't have that issue, as the Protectobots are drastically different designs to each other.
Now, thanks to people like yourself who were clamouring that Hasbro has "ruined everything" by swapping Slingshot (who's name they couldn't use for legal reasons) for Alpha Bravo, and the same for Wild Rider & Off Road, Hasbro and Takara managed to create a workable alternative. Either way for Takara's more "geewun" versions, or grab the special, online only releases of the missing characters (with new names.)
Will this make them a bit more money? Sure, but in the grand scheme of things, not that much more. We as an adult fanbase are a very small percentage of their overall market, the fact that they have released Quickslinger and Brake-Neck at all is showing that, yes, they're listening to the fans, and providing an option for us - as it's most likely the fans using the online methods than little Timmy's mummy or daddy.
I think you need to dial back the hate, have a beer (as you suggested) and take a look at the broader picture. Do I personally agree with every decision HasTak make? Nope, but I get on with my life and enjoy my Transformers.

That's a necessary mistransformation to give him full elbow articulation as an arm. For the Alpha Bravo version of the mold, it also makes him look closer to the other aerialbots, who all bend their arms in some way for arm mode.
