I just noticed that Snaptrap's combined mode legs for his torso mode look to be the same as Combiner Wars Silverbolt, just remolded a bit.

There are five limbs as it is now, with the one that doesn't get to be an arm or a leg used as a large weapon in combined mode. Reducing the group to four limbs and a torso would make it just like any other Scramble City combiner style team. I don't see the issue, honestly.

That's because Snaptrap is a retool of PotP Hun-Gurrr, who is himself either a heavy retool of CW Silverbolt OR a case of shared engineering.

It is a Takara exclusive, similar to how the Legends LG-EX ones were, except Hasbro Pulse is now an official outlet for them. This means Takara developed it on their own and get to set the pricing. Hasbro Pulse is really just being an outlet in the US for them. Also, the "set" from a purchasing standpoint is 6 individual releases which will come out in pairs with each pair about a month apart.
If you haven't jumped on them already, it is already too late to order the first 4 bots from Hasbro Pulse, and you will need to go with TFSource or another online retailer at a slightly higher price.

Man that bucket of fish looks AWESOME!!!
Can't wait to get my salty sea mits on them.
But, notice how he can't hold that weapon friend off of the ground?
Not that I expected he could.

What I was more suprised about was the fact the weapon limb was connected to the back of the hand.
Also I thought it was common knowledge that turtler was a retool? All the limbs are retools (extensive ones at that) it's not a bad thing. Now let's see the God Neptune repaint.

Nope and there really is only so many ways to make CW style combiner limbs/torsos.ZeroWolf wrote:Also I thought it was common knowledge that turtler was a retool? All the limbs are retools (extensive ones at that) it's not a bad thing.
The individual figures don't do much for me, but the combined Fishacon is pretty cool looking. Going be fun to watch from the side lines. All the limb bots can become a weapon correct? So that's five modes a piece, amazing and awesome amazesome

Lancer just arrived and she's already been knocked up by TotP Optimus Primal. Looks like its a little baby Hardhead. How does that even work

What's being referred to is how, when POTP Hungrrr was revealed, a ton of people thought he was a retool of Silverbolt when in reality he just shares engineering about it. There was entirely too much talk on the subject, and now this mold, based on Hungrrr, has the chance to spark the same stupid argument again.

I don't think it's just the pictures. It looks to me like all six seacons' individual melee weapons combine to form a trident for the big guy, which is pretty nifty.

Turtler shares these parts with Hun-Gurrr:
- arms
- upper legs
And that's it, really, the core body is totally redone. And that's all people should care about: not whether or not something's a retool, but what parts are shared with who. By the by, when taken as percentages, Tentakil comes closest to Turtler with the amount of parts changed, with him retaining Moonracer/Firestar's core body instead.

Indeed, all Seacons come with both their own guns, and a melee weapon from the trident, like Victorion's sword. The breakdown:
- main body: Turtler's sword
- staff: Lobclaw's axe
- left and right prongs: Kraken's and Tentakil's blades
- center prong: Gulf's and Overbite's swords

I know everyone is excited about King Poseidon but I'm just happy I have all the Praxians together. Selects Smokescreen just showed up and joined Siege Prowl, 35th Anniversary Bluestreak, and Siege Barricade. I really wish Hasbro would sell a pack of blast effects...

Think of it as the toes and heels switching function
It's not a misassembly, rather it's a consequence of reorienting the base Cutthroat body while keeping the beast mode leg assembly as is. In fact, compared to Cutthroat, Kraken's waist is turned 180 in Beast Mode to acommodate the new tail.

Am I the only one here who thinks they'll just repaint Lobclaw red and call him Gimlet?
He'd be somewhat extraneous to God Neptune, but interesting to swap into the BotCon Predacus set.

Interesting idea, but that's more Hasbro's MO for not wasting resources. TakaraTomy has no problem leaving out (gang-molded) parts of a set if it means making a more accurate product. Heck, God Neptune would only have the trident for a weapon! That does mean the individual pirates would get weapons this time around.

My best guess is that it's an air bubble from the molding procedure. I don't see any flash or cutting marks on him, it's all smooth.

The original Hound? Yes, because the colors make the figure look different. The original Cybertron Defense Hot Shot? Nope, the newer figure possesses none of the gimmicks the original toy had that made it a fantastic figure.

First impressions, he isn't bad. The head, shoulders, legs, and matrix are really nice, I like those parts of the retooling. Not too hot on the stickers or the chest piece though, that piece feels really weak and I'm a bit scared of it. He's not bad, but he's not great either

Skritz wrote:I think they honestly dropped the ball picking this mold for Star Convoy, which is why I skipped it despite previously clamoring for one.
Chances are it was Star Convoy that was chosen for the mold, not the other way around. Like:
"Any ideas how we can use the PotP Optimus Prime tooling further?"
"Hmmm, it uses the evolution concept of Orion Pax into Convoy, why not take it further to Star Convoy?"
That btw, is what should have been done in the first place.

william-james88 wrote:Is he worth the money or woyld it be better spent elsewhere?
So far, I would say better spent elsewhere.
I really wanted him to go with my Japanese G1 Bots, but if you don't have that kind of connection, I wouldn't say he is worth it.
Alt mode is still ugly, and I had a problem with the stickers sticking and then warping and it destroyed the one long front trailer sticker applying it. My fault, but it was a bit more difficult than I anticipated.
The deluxe sized Prime is pretty cool, and I love the yellow eyes and Action master styled look, but he feels a bit weaker in person than I had thought he would? Like he feels like a downgrade from Orion, despite how much I want to enjoy an Action Master Prime homage.
The main robot is really cool, and the paint work, head sculpt, shoulders, and legs are fantastic. The chest windows should have been retooled, no reason why they couldn't have been to be more accurate. and the problem with the star is you have to sort of unclick the chest bot to lock it into place. I see why many have snapped: you cannot have the smaller Prime locked into the chest and the star locked in at the same time, one has to be slightly unclipped.
He is ok, he needed some more work. He's worth it if you have the attachment or the desire or the love of the head sculpt. But outside of that, I'd say you're good buying the next wave of Studio Series instead

I mean, I could totally see that working. But I can't really see them producing two figures for such obscure versions of a character that didn't get toys in the first place

Don't get me wrong, this is Takara we're talking about. They are the kings and queens of surprising the fans. I mean, who would have thought we'd get a full Piranacon that had a full size deluxe as the Targetmaster? Or even MP Raiden (unless I missed something new)? There is distinctly the possibility of us getting both version of Megatron. I'm probably just looking at this from the perspective of "Hasbro tends to only give us recognizable versions of the big name characters" so I might be wrong

Megatron is a big-name villain in either territory for sure, but compared to heroes in Tokusatsu for instance, villains hardly ever get note-worthy upgrades unless they are really big with the fans, bigger than what would be justified for even a cameo in a sequel series. He's a big name, but also a big risk, so Super Megatron could be viewed as a stepping stone to an Ultra one later.
