Official Images - Transformers Fan-Built Combiner Victorion

As I've noted elsewhere-

So these are re-paints and re-molds right? Did they only get new head-sculpts, or are there other differences? Did even little Groove get a new face?

The new Victorion hands and feet look interesting, as does the gestalt head and the combining sword, but those new features aren't enough to sway me. It's not speaking "fem-bot" enough to me I guess, and the color-scheme, though unified, is somewhat obnoxious.

And Hasbro claims that we fans created this? Hmm...That makes me wonder if that is the best we fans could agree upon, or if the whole "voting" thing was a gimmick and a sales stunt. That seems likely to me, but why bother, when other already existing & yet-to-be-updated gestalt teams were available?

If Hasbro was desperate for a familiar, strong female character, why not complete the Generations Fem-bot team with MoonRacer, FireStar, Elita-1, etc., or better yet, make us an MP Arcee? Saving money by re-tooling existing CW figures was their aim, but the result is a bit disappointing.

Still, it is good to have choices, and the box looks nice, but I wonder what Takara can make of these. Takara's been full of surprises with their Deluxe Groove and Blast-Off lately, so I'll hold out hope for at least a better colored Victorion later on. Now, bring on Computron and as many other gestalt-teams as possible!

I do like the new heads on some of them, especially the voyager mold (forgot the name).

Ah yes... stock photography for the win. Those mis-transformed arms on Victorion is classic.

Yeahhhh, this is just a complete mess. Fan-built my aftplate. Nothing "I" voted for is in there certainly, tho 1 vote out of however many is pretty insignificant.

I just have no desire to purchase this mess of aquamarine and red.

I really do not like those hands in the least.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to having these ladies on my shelf.

I think the Groove repaint (Rust Dust) is the only one without new tooling the rest have new Heads, chests and new arms with new hands

1: Because this is a new team not a team made of old characters that spot has already been filled by Optimus Maximus, Sky Reign and Galvatronus plus old fans would be angry with those fembots being made into a combiner.


2:What the hell is Masterpiece have to do with Combiner Wars?

Their not comparable plus Hasbro doesn't make Masterpiece that's Takara's thing Hasbro just resells them.

Glad that they've lowered the saturation of one of her two colours - seemed like a bit of a mess when the orange and aqua were equally juicy. Would've personally preferred a bright aqua paired with a dull rust, tho.

Comprehensive changes to bodytype aren't in the cards for a set of retools that change heads (besides Rust Dust's), sometimes chest and arm details. Works fine without it in my eyes, since Transformers are usually somewhat abstracted from the human form.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Fan_Built_Bot Wiki's got the details on what aspects of the toy were up for voting. What do you mean by "gimmick and a sales stunt"? Yes, it was designed to engage fans and create a product that benefits from that, while restricting the design within certain parameters (mold choice, colours, the fact it's a combiner etc).

Hopefully we'll see all of that cool stuff at some point, but I'm glad to have some new femaleformers.

Just because you didn't vote for some of the choices doesn't mean it's a conspiracy those that think it is are ridiculous.


There are things I voted on there the only things that I voted that didn't make it were the color and the gender.

Hoo boy, they really messed up the transformations on these gals, haven't they?

The colors look better now that they've been desaturated a bit, though they still look a little too evenly blended. The bike and fire truck look good, the cars look decent in vehicle mode, but those helicopters...

The helicopter twins have completely different forearms. Instead of obnoxious missile pods, they have forearms that actually look like helicopter parts

I just can't see how anyone thought that was a good colour scheme. Those two main colours do not go together at all.

I'm not wholly sold, but my desire to like this more than I do makes ..well, like it more than I actually do. So am still in the 'yay!' camp!

LOL at the *dainty* hands and heeled foot pieces. I wonder if/how Perfect Effect is going to capitalize on that (maybe painted nails on the hands and open-toed shoe on the foot pieces)

Also, why did they have to put "Fan-Built" in the official title, and on the box? It's as if Hasbro is saying -"WE had nothing to do with this, if you hate it, its your own fault"

Mistransformed again for the gestalt, eh? And they really need to fix that G2 Menasor gestalt photo as well.

Looking at them in robot modes - I'm not seeing 'fembots'. Only so much you can do when they're based on pre-existing non-fem-bots....

They have new heads, arms and chests which is all they need since their robots.


Not sure if your expecting curves or something the less we get of the Prime Arcee body type the better.

All of them have new arms (except for the Groove redeco which has no new parts) also people who complain about the missile arms just don't get why it makes sense.


Alpha Bravo is not a rescue helicoptor since he is part of the Aerialbots which is an Autobot air force.


Blades is one of the most blood thirsty Autobots so it makes sense he would be armed.


Vortex is a Decepticon and a military chopper I should not have to explain more.

What was wrong with prime arcee?

I like the look of these gals but I have to wonder if we in the UK will ever see them

I get a listing error from Amazon.ca. It seems the listing went down almost as quickly as it went up

It's not there is anything wrong with the shape itself (In my opinion of course) It's just that it's all we are getting recently with the exception of Strongarm from Rid and the Victorion members.


So just that we are clear nothing wrong with curvy (I hate typing this) but I would like to see diversity with the body shapes of fembots (also hate this term) like we do with the male ones.

Thanks for the response RevTibe. I like TFWikki too, and use it a a resource, but I do like asking fellow TF fans here for info. and for their thoughts as well. I don't always research every detail for a topic of casual conversation here, but thanks for your answer and for the reminder. TFWikki is useful but not omniscient, nor as fun as discussing these things with the fandom.

That's what you get when you have people that have BAs in Liberal Arts putting this stuff together. There's not a lot of attention to detail or following instructions. They probably just looked at the box and said, "Well, it looks about the same as the artwork."

Maybe it'll be a case of MP Ironhide and Bumblebee: it is liked a lot more in hand. either way, she is mine and I will enjoy her (and make the helicoptor twins her legs)

Let my try to fix this for you: That's what you get when you have people that have BAs in Liberal Arts but cannot read directions, doesn't care to read directions nor cares how good a display looks putting this stuff together

I think that fits a bit better.

You'd have to be red/green colorblind to enjoy this, or looking at it through sepia-tinted glasses. Probably the worst color palette I've seen on a TF in a decade.

Looks like all the nice turquoise parts are now gray. Looks like a KO.

They don't look terrible but they don't look great either. If some grey/black was thrown in the mix it would probably look a lot better. I'd also like to wonder what the dragstrip mold would look like in this set instead of the Breakdown mold. As it is I would be interested in getting this box set as long as funds permit it.

I think they look better than they originally did, the muted colours look a little better than the garish bright clashing colours, but I think they have now ended up bland, perhaps a little black could have been used to break up the palette a little, did a quick photoshop as an example.
I think Pyra Magna looks the best.

The touch of black does look nice and does help break some stuff up. But the other colors have kind of grown on me and I am ok with it not having those touches of black

Prime Arcee's cool, but the bodytype kinda limits the toy potential - it makes for a decent bike and an okay jet, but when you start diversifying altmodes you either get awkward shellformers like Thunderblast, weirdly curvy altmodes like G1 Arcee, (although she gets a nostalgia-pass) or utterly painful stuff (hellformers) like Airachnid. The standard femaleformer bodytype doesn't really lend itself to stuff like tanks and bulldozers.

If people don't know what combined mode of arms and legs look like by now it's kinda sad look at other combiner figures limbs to find out its torso part of combiner that is main display of combiner no one really got good look what torso part of combiner look like arms and legs not that important

No one's mad at Prowl being a combiner now. Why would someone be mad at Elita-1 being one? Particularly when Elita-1's never actually had a proper toy before, just movieverse and some exclusive nonsense.

Victorion's looking nice, liking the soft teal on her; Not sure I'll prioritize her over Computron or Liokaiser, but i wouldn't mind getting her.

The colours don't look as bad as they did before but they're still fairly eye-searing. The way the combiner head is just straight-up poking out in vehicle mode really sucks. And the complete lack of any form of parts integration with the new hands and feet is just pathetic. The hand-foot-guns weren't great but at least they did SOMETHING.

One way or another it still would not be made like that Victorion is the fan built combiner who was stated to be made of new Transformers just like how Windblade was the fan built individual robot.


I hope if we get something like a fan built headmaster this year that it's a male for the sake of diversity I got no problem with fembots but it gets boring when you know that every single one of the fan made Transformers is going to be female.

Good thing is this though: Vicky is due out in 2 months or so, and Comp isn't due out till August, so you got some time to make the cash and enjoy one without having to prioritize the other

I wish there was one or two more colors to break up everything, but it's not bad. I'm still going to get her though.

No I get why it makes sense. I just didn't like how it looked like the robot arms were just on the side of the copter, especially for vortex's being a bright yellow. Although the mold did look good as arms, it didn't have 5mm port all the way through, so they couldn't hold the hand/foot/guns underhand which is the only angle they look good from. I also can't find a configuration I actually like with arm mode. Don't get me wrong, I like the missiles, but I certainly like these retools much better.

That's what I've been saying about Computron. At least liokaiser's boxart looks like he uses standard hand/foot/gun

Wait for the TT treatment. Machine Robo also implemented a similar type, the torso was a rescue vehicle but the limbs were "kangufu" female type bikes.

I'm so torn on this set. I really want to like it but there is just so much here I don't care for like the fact there are two helicopters, and the color palette. I think I'll save my money for Computron instead.

Either color works for me, but are these a Sage green, or a gray?

My department owns a Web tool that converts data from our contract groups to our technical groups. Everytime we add a new feature, my boss wants us to make it easy enough for a Liberal Arts BA. Then he says, "kurthy, you're designing it." I have a degree in math, which is unfortunately in most universities' liberal arts programs.
