So Misfire's head IS grey! Fantastic news! I was thinking the one at Toyfair was a colouring error considering the blotch of black it had... but yes, excellent. That was the major problem so I'm glad to see it no longer exists.

Misfire doesn't have a pink head! Man, I know those are renders, but those are great looking figures. I can't wait for them.

By the way guys, Griffin was told by hasbro at the show that Misfire is wave 5 and slugslinger is wave 6.

Take it all with a grain of salt.

I'm totally fine with these two being retools and will gladley eat them up,um... buy them. :D

So if they were hand painted at the show, maybe the production run will get Misfire's head color right.

Makes *possible* sense. If wave 5 is Twintwist, Misfire, possibly Windblade, and a repack from a previous assortment

Hell, I actually prefer the three of these being retools - at least in my eyes these dudes are basically 1987's seekers so I like them having some uniformity, and sharing the same basic engineering and legs therefore works really well for me. Like I said, it's basically the Seekers. If the seekers were good.

Except they're SPACE SEEKERS! :michaelbay:

Edit: Ya RoddyC. they are awesome on their Alts alone. Not to mention the mold is just a fantastic robot build.

Hell yeah!

Maybe it's because I love sci-fi in general (doctor who was basically my childhood), maybe it's because I grew up with the Unicron Trilogy; but I find I kinda prefer Cybertronian modes when they're done right to Earth modes. There's so many ways they could go wrong and lazy (Fortress Maximus, Scourge, TFP Megatron...) but when they're done right? When they're your Hot Rods and Cyclonuses and Triggerhappys? Oh MAN is it good! I especially love how they're being done here because unlike the rest of the line, it's not just 'G1 but also we have some articulation', they're actual proper updates with more streamlined transformations and bodies and vehicle modes that don't suffer from Aerialbot syndrome and then they added that feature to Triggerhappy where he can flip his big guns over his hands... I really think I'll have to pick up all three. I love them. I love all of them so much.

And don't get me wrong, the seekers are an absolute classic design and I don't think it's a stretch to say they're one of the franchise's most iconic. But... man, I dunno. Outside of the CW Leaders (and now I'm getting EXTREMELY contrary), I find it hard to really get into them and I'll generally just get them out of mandatory shelf-filling. ... and also because Starscream and Thundercracker are amazing characters.
But the Targetmaster Decepticons I feel just do it right. They share the same basic transformation and certain design details but pull off completely different silhouettes and shapes. You can tell there's a uniformity to them yet they all do something unique that makes each one a completely new treat compared to just buying a black and purple Starscream. There's certain things here that could be better and I would change - Misfire having two red eyes, give them better guns - but all in all I feel myself far more satisfied looking at these dudes than I do the seekers. Unpopular opinions ho!

Again, the reveal of the product codes show that's true:

Misfire: C2393, in line with the "C23**" of the rest of wave 4
Slugslinger: C3250, a new series "C32**" which is indicative of a new wave

C2393 happens to be part of the ID "gap" I mentioned a few pages back, with C2392 to C2395 being unassigned atm.

Wonder who'll be in it... :-? Obvious answer would be the Autobot Targetmasters but wouldn't Sureshot and Pointblank require new molds? I can see Crosshairs out of Kup but I really don't see how we could get the other two without Scourge > Highbrow or Triggerhappy > Slugslinger/Misfire level changes.

At least for the Deluxes. The intent is there, but we'll have to see how the rest will pan out.

This pic is slightly misleading though, since it doesnt show you the alt modes biggest flaw: the arms are not hiden in any way. The fact that the wings are swung forward and centrally located mean that you end up having unhidden arms.

Image

Still a nice starship, but I really wish they could hide away the arms to make it look sleeker, at least from the top.

Kurona wrote:So we have definite confirmation of a sixth wave?

We now have 3 different sources showing so, so I am pretty sure.

A sixth wave was alwys gonna happen though since we knew POTP would only happen in Jan 2018.

Here's hoping that leader Deathsaurus rumour for wave 6 is real!

Also, remember thats the wave we get titanmaster arcee.

I wish he had a visor so bad. I am not a G1 guy, but this toy look means a lot to me for reasons that are too long to explain.

Which Titan master face with a visor would work best for him? Topspin?

Now that you mention it, that looks to be exactly what they did! I'm kinda partial to the '87 toy look so here's to hoping for a Takara version perhaps, and if not, maybe some painting will be in need!

Like I said before, if they make a whole line where the voyagers are triple changing headmasters and dont give us the 2 triple changing headmasters then Hasbro would be the biggest tease since my summer of 06 girlfriend.

Prediction for Wave 6 Deluxes:
Confirmed: Slugslinger

Rumored: Crosshairs
Needlenose

Speculation: Nightbeat (back when Chainclaw was leaking stuff, he specifically mentioned a full-body Nightbeat)

I'd love a Needlenose and an actually good Nightbeat. One of my favourite Transformers characters period right there; his Thrilling 30 toy is a decent stand-in but just does not do him the justice he deserves.

I really hope we get a better Takara Misfire. That head really puts me off. Doesn't even look like Misfire to me. He at LEAST needs a red visor since he has a visor! And if he had eyes, give em the green!

I'm sad because we got such an awesomely toy-accurate Triggerhappy with an amazing headsculpt, and then for Misfire we get... this.

Slugslinger's head looks better to me, but I still dislike the squinty eyes. I would've much preferred the red visor for him.

I think Misfire is the closest thing you'll get to Slugslinger's visored toy head.

Just paint it blue instead of fuschia.

I find myself thinking that Daburu's face could work quite well with a bit of repainting. Near as I can tell, most of the details are quite similar between Slugslinger's G1 toy face and Daburu's.

That is very true and I want it -so- much. It even has Brainstorm's friggin' briefcase!

On the other hand, it doesn't fix his really bad arms. That mold in general is just not great; it's not terrible, but it has way too many flaws for even as great an upgrade as that to truly save.

I actually prefer the event. It may not be from the best angle and possibly might be a painted prototype, but the pink doesn't look puke-worthy like in the renders.

Also I get some sort of uncanny valley effect from these new ones. Not sure why.

Yeah, agreed; the CGI renders are just awful. Hasbro's stock photography wasn't great - mistransformations everywhere - but at least you could get a good idea of the figure and they were kinda hilarious at times.

I think the Renders are a bit naughty. but I consider them more or less a fair representation - and better than grey scale images perhaps.

Oh and I'd like a Fangry Deluxe from Twinferno before the line ends.

Shapeways has you covered, pricy but worth it.

Especially since they now have a new high detail black acrylic plastic that would be perfect for his black helmet.

On a bit of a tangent, could anyone give me Quake's product code? You know where to find it on the packaging, but it should be under the cockpit piece as well. It's part of interesting thought that involves Wave 4 having 5 figures, but Wave 5 only 3 (so far).
