Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, and YouTube toy reviewer, Chuckdawg1999, has uploaded a new video review of one of the latest releases in the Netflix Transformers War for Cybertron line, Deluxe Class Deep Cover!
This version of Deep Cover reverses his color scheme, similar to the way that G2 Sideswipe reverses his.
Check out what Chuck has to say:
Chuckdawg1999 wrote:It seems like with every other week comes the release of another version of the Siege Sideswipe mold. The Walmart exclusive WFC Netflix line brings us our second version of the previously Japanese exclusive Deep Cover character, forgoing its usual black and blue look for a navy blue deco splotched with battle damage. Surprisingly, this is the most solid version of the mold I've handled, your mileage may vary though. There's not a lot new to recommend here so buy the figure if you're really, really into the mold.
We have embedded the review below for your convenience:
Will you be picking up this figure? Do you prefer this colour scheme over his normal one? Do you have him?

And that's mainly thanks to Covid forcing what were supposed to be three normal Earthrise figures into this line.o.supreme wrote:I think when fans look back at this line years later, the overall consensus will be that Wave 2 of the Netflix series was by far the best (In that it offered 3 unique and highly desired retools, and arguably the best Spoiler Box). Makes one wonder what Hasbro might have offered in Wave 2 in place of those three had the pandemic not happened.

Dirty versions Though in the case of Elita-1, maybe a dirty version of Arcee.

She's a pretool of ER Arcee, and by rule of thumb, Netflix is all redecos. That's where the theory of releases being shuffled comes from.

It does make a certain amount of sense.

That'll probably be the majority opinion, but for me personally, the only point of this line has been obscure Decepticon repaints/generics and the Cheetor with better coloration, Wave 2 was the only wave that actually had nothing I wanted (although if I didn't already have PotP Nemesis, the Spoiler Pack would have been sorely tempting).o.supreme wrote:I think when fans look back at this line years later, the overall consensus will be that Wave 2 of the Netflix series was by far the best (In that it offered 3 unique and highly desired retools, and arguably the best Spoiler Box). If I'm remembering right, I think one of the leakers said that more specifically, Bee and Soundwave were supposed to be mainline figures that got moved to Netflix because there weren't enough mainline spots and their amounts of retooling meant they wouldn't fit in Selects, while Elita was a Selects release that got moved to Netflix, but obviously we don't have specific proof of that being 100% accurate.Sabrblade wrote:And that's mainly thanks to Covid forcing what were supposed to be three normal Earthrise figures into this line.

That makes more sense to me, seeing as how her lack of animation accuracy is more similar to Selects figures than the mainline ones.Nemesis Primal wrote:while Elita was a Selects release that got moved to Netflix.

One of the things that kept me from picking up Cliffy is the fact his feet are so big and clompy! I know its weird but it hampers the enjoyment non the less. So the question is, how clompy are the VW feet on Bee? A little more minimal, more streamlined bc of the curves?
The only reason i ask is because on the off chance he pops up in stores it might be fun to pick him. My collection has 0 Bumblebees, especially a G1 styled version. And if Bee tickles my fancy enough might pick up the other mini-bots, Huffer and Warpath, to complete a little team trio. But honestly right now Warpath is being held up by the same feet issue and Huffer because .. well hes whole front end just turns into a hoodie (sigh) It sure is fun being a manic toy collector

I haven’t been lucky enough to find Bee. I do have Cliffjumper.
But if you ever see Bee, of course you should get him. I have Classics Bee & still wanted this NF version.
And his feet are a bit smaller than Cliffjumper’s.
I’ve given up hope for any NF figures from previously released waves... Haven’t seen anything in weeks.

I’m only wanting Bee at this point.
I was lucky enough to find Soundwave, & have OP shipped.
I’m pretty sure the next NF figures I find will be the new ones; sparkless & Deep Cover.

You had perfect timing with your question, I just pulled out my entire WCF collection for some group shots. Out of Cliffjumper, Bee and Warpath, Cliff does have the clompiest feet going on. Bee's are slightly smaller and more streamlined as you mentioned. Warpath had the biggest feet by far, but is somewhat helped by his shins also being pretty large. Here are some foot fetish photos of all 3.
From the front
And the side
Now let's do the hokey pokey. You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out. You put your left foot in and shake it all about.
Do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around, that what its all about!
(Yes that was just a lame assed way of getting to the back photo.)

Well I appreciate the reply and the thoughts! They do all look pretty good together. Relevant to this and the current discussion, I've seen all of wave 1 in stores, all of wave 2 except soundwave and so far none of wave 3. Which is a bummer because that shiny Cheetor is calling muh name, guess you can add Bee to that list if he pops again

Lol, I should have read your original post a little more closely. I hope you like it when you get it. I'm quite happy with mine. The transformation is a lot more intuitive with fewer steps, as compared to the Siege version of Soundwave. It's essentially the old G1 conversion process with a few more steps to clean things up and give us a figure with better proportions overall.

Inside Spoiler Pack #3 you'll find a redeco of Siege Megatron (largely looking unchanged from the Voyager set released as part of Wave 1 of this line last year) and a translucent purple Fossilizer Paleotrex redeco (called Skelivore). Accessories wise, you get a Matrix and four straps so Megatron can wear it, and a small D20 looking AllSpark.
You also get some black playdoh like the first set.
There's also text within the box that hints at spoilers within the third part of the Netflix Transformers War for Cybertron cartoon.
We have embedded PrimeVsPrime video below for you to watch and enjoy:

Eeyup, the Netflix ones are definitely the ones for me.
Never found normal Kingdom Primal, and I've yet to pick up either Cheetor or Rattrap, so I won't have to worry about double-dipping.

Nice comparison shots! Cheetor is the only Netflix release I'll be picking up, though. Rattrap's Kingdom release colors look better to me. The Netflix one is missing his teeth and gives him a cocaine nose to boot. The fur also looks too dark, and all the silver paint apps are also too dark, being more gunmetal instead. With Optimus Primal, it's another give and take situation, like with the alternations to Cheetor's deco between Kingdom and Netflix, i.e., the metallic blue and deeper yellow look better on the Netflix version, but it's missing the paint apps on his legs. For Optimus Primal, the Netflix version gives him gray feet in robot mode, and some nice fine paintwork on the hands, but it gets the robot mode chest color wrong, turning the Kingdom light blue to white. The slightly different shades of blue, white, and red aren't of much consequence, but I much prefer the pure white of the Kingdom version to the off white of the Netflix version. The Kingdom version's red and blue also look brighter to my eyes. Strangely enough, the colors on Optimus Primal's beast mode chest don't match on the Netflix version! You can see that the outsides of his pectorals are a completely different color of gray compared to the hands and face. There's a slight difference too with the Kingdom version, but the contrast is much more subtle. For me, Kingdom has the better Optimus Primal and Rattrap, but neither release gets everything "right." I hope we get another shot at these molds in a few years with some "premium" show-accurate paint jobs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure those lines one the side of the mouth are sculpted into both facesculpts. How prominent they appear can vary from copy to copy depending on how well the face is painted. Sometimes it's super obvious like this, or sometimes it's not even noticeable, like on my copy of Thundercracker.
So basically, if you find him in store you'll probably be able to pick one with better face paint. It's what I did with TC and Hotlink.

Yeah, like having those hip ball joints be red instead of blue. That would have really helped this Netflix release.
Sabrblade wrote:Gray, you mean. Like the cartoon:
That makes it really dissapointing that the Netflix version chooses not to highlight the abdominal outline then. Also, I am 100% certain that there was a mixup/mistake where Hasbro inverted the colour codes for that chest circle when they sent in the paint specifications to the vietnamese factory. And it was too minor to warrant halting production.
o.supreme wrote:The changes are some of the most minimal I've ever seen. This will be one of those releases, many years from now, that only the most hardcore of fans will be able to notice the difference. 99% of people won't. I'm still saddened that Primal didn't come with 2 Battle Masters, it would have been a nice excuse to get it, but alas, my collection will have none. Neither the Kingdom Primal or this Netflix Voyager offer anything I need for my collection.
I really don't think this particular release was made for anyone who already had these toys. Pretty sure it's just to make sure these characters are on shelves when the Netflix show is released. Hence why the deco differences are minor.
