Hishoumaru (the phoenix) is the worst offender, which is surprising. Then again, extra mass for the gimmick, he reminds me of G1 Wingspan or Hawk Saber from Densestu no Yuusha Da Garn

Tweetie also looks meh.
Oddly, I'm getting a Sky Byte vibe off of Jaws the Derpy Shark over there.
I'm really digging their initial combined mode.

I've been keeping up with the news on these but only just caught on...Autobot vehicles, Decepticon beasts. I see what they did there
Wait, hang on-are these Autobots or Decepticons? Are both combiners the same faction? And here's me saying I've been keeping up

Go-Gekisō = SO AWESOME!

Sorry, whenever I get an email notifying me about an update on one of the threads, I check immediately so it doesn't clutter my inbox. I left my iPod alone for less than an hour, about 20 plus emails were there.

Well, it's not like it wasn't my fault, it even says AUTOBOT combiner in the news post

Ugh, so true. The phoenix looks like it needs to go on a diet, and the shark looks more like a baby whale.

Doubt I'll be getting these either.

Because in cases like these... It is like showing a collector of the original toyline the Masterpiece line and convincing them it is also as good. To them, it is not. And to me, if these were repainted for a new non-Transformers series... I'd buy them. But since they are, and are (Jelze stated) "offensive in some way," I'll be another person who passes.
And it is a shame because even though I mentioned what I am currently collecting, I really wanted to like these.

To be fair, Jelze didn't say they were offensive in a derisive way. It was said in reference to how ASTOUNDINGLY kibbly the phoenix is in beast mode. "The worst offender" in reference to kibble.

To be honest, I still feel that responses like yours is why I still need to find a new forum to join. And not because I should have done such within the first week or first few months of being here. It is because I was trying to agree with the one person I was hoping to befriend, as one of those attempt to justify my time here. But instead, and atop of giving up on that goal, I come off as saying something that did not have me come off as simply agreeing with Jelze. So I apologize for that.
Simply put, RAcast, my nickname (sans the Maximus) is a variation of the one I used to go by... And it means "Bear Ninja" in English. So when it comes to these figures, I agree with Jelze on account that it is both what my "Year 29" fandom and "Year 2" collector sides say the same thing. Nothing more. So again... I apologize for the misunderstanding. So now if you do not mind... I will drop out. Not because of the misunderstanding, but because I should have focused more on my Encore collection than being disappointed with these figures... As well as remind myself I should be blogging instead of trying again to fit in (which I still have not succeeded at).
And also, if I ever get addicted to Phantasy Star Online 2... I will hope to have you as a teammate.

No worries, no worries. I didn't mean my reply in any negative way either. It's not always easy to convey feelings via message board. I hope that you don't give up on us completely, but either way, hope to see ya around!

The same day we get a new pic of the Swordbot Samurai Team, we get three more pics from a different source of the Swordbot Shinobi Team.
Nice.

Yeah, Beast squad looks better. I like the shark thing the most. Still, what's with the awkward beast modes?
Were these guys designed by interns working on weekends? They just seem like such a step backward, engineering-wise. Or, on the other hand, I tip my hand for making such bold design decisions.

Well, if you look back at the Super Link/Energon line's Autobot's, you can tell that these share a lot aesthetically with them, and that they combine in a similar fashion. It's not so much as a step backward in engineering as doing something they already know how to do. Kind of a shame they didn't improve on what they learned from the Super Link line. They definitely made the legs -too- long on the Samurai team. Ninja team looks fantastic and I can't wait to see more of them combined.
As for the weird altmode designs, I feel like the shark is definitely supposed to be a Shark-submarine...though I can't think of a good excuse for the other two. The lion is super deformed and the phoenix packed on the pounds for thanksgiving. Seriously though, I like them, and find their weird designs oddly endearing.

To be honest, it's hard to make a three-way combiner with individual modes.

Magnaboss, Tripredacus and Rail Racer beg to differ
TBH, these at least look better in robot mode and should look better combined. The beast modes are garbage save for the shark. What happened to Takara's designers?
Posted by #Sideways# on June 10th, 2013 @ 7:29am CDT
Not sure how much I like the lion. Basically looks like you fold back the front paws, straighten the legs and fold down the lion head, revealing the robot head. Seems a bit simple. But then again, it is a combiner, after all...
I'm not sure what I think about these.
Posted by guarayakha on June 10th, 2013 @ 8:42am CDT
But I like the fact that at least they have their combined mode heads integrated better than the vehicle team's giant head weapons.

I do find it odd they look more like something that would come from Bandai and not Takara.
But at least they are not 2-fingered terminators with bird legs (please everyone, that's a joke, there are a LOT of movie designs and toys I'm quite the fan of)

Nothing "happened" to them, the end result is clearly what they intended, going for something similar to Brave/GaoGaiGar/etc

I'm talking about interchangeable positions. Those three only combined a certain way; these combine into three different configurations.
Posted by Evil Eye on June 14th, 2013 @ 11:32am CDT
The lion seems to have come out the strongest. The beast mode head is WAY too big, but that aside it looks good and the robot mode is good.
The shark is...interesting. Whilst I kinda dig the submarine vibe, it looks a bit weird, and I don't know if I like the robot mode.
The phoenix has a decent robot mode, but the beast mode looks like a turkey.
Still, they do look very well engineered at the very least.

I thought Takara made the better looking transformers now it looks like they have decided to just throw out stuff that looks worse than some KOs. Hell with the rise of the high quality 3rd parties you would think its time for Takara to step up its game and make better figures.

happylock wrote:All of these go combiner teams look like crap. They tried to homage lio convoy and divebomb from the predacons but failed horribly. Dont even get me stated and possibly the worst sharkticon yet.
I really don't think they were trying to homage anything. Just because they share alt-modes doesn't mean it's an homage. I can't even think of a previous Transformer that was a phoenix, and then there's the fact that the lion's head was on the shoulder on the robot mode of the original Lio Convoy. Personally I'm finding these figures fairly unique, even if the phoenix figure actually reminds me of the Digivolving Birdramon figure Bandai produced years and years ago.
But yeah, they do still look like crap.
