Pretty cool. Actually convinced now that there are just going to be a ton of possible crazy out there combiners along with the classic characters and that's pretty spiffy in my book. Just hope to see some of the new Voyager molds soon!

How? It makes sense considering TakaraTomy's take on Combiner Wars has Slingshot instead of Alpha Bravo, albeit as a retool of Firefly.

What the hell is CHUG? Are you referring to that stupid, inapplicable designation created a few years back? The current Generations figures are not the same as the universe, classics, or the first year of generations. Live in the now! Geewun ended 30 friggin years ago!! :BANG_HEAD:

I call bullsh*t because it is a cut and paste of some text that anyone could have randomly typed up. Why create two new molds when you could just repaint two and release them? Doesn't make sense.

Because that is Takara. They always go for geewun accuracy in their figures and they always have figures that they get there that we do not see here. Just because someone either cuts and pasts text or just flat out typed the crap up themselves does not mean you should accept all rumors as gospel.

Well Takara is doing them so that means Hasbro has even more retools that they could sell, why wouldnt they?

What really concerns me as well with this line in general is that I just noticed that Hasbro has lied about their price point for deluxes this year. They said $16, now it is $17. That is INSANE. Just five years ago it was $9.

This is a 12% price increase ALONE just in a year, 20% for voyagers!!!

At this rate, by 2018 people will be paying $21.99 for a DELUXE.

It totally could be a fake, but who said anything about new molds? Even if slingshot (us) is just a straight redeco of Firefly, and as far as we know, Wildrider could be the same of Breakdown, it's not unheard of for repaints to be store exclusives. But it also could be bulls**t

They do not do that historically. Did we see Senator Rat Bat? Prime Ironhide? AOE Stinger? DOTM Soundwave? RTS Rumble & Frenzy? Scores of others. Again, doesn't make sense.

You mistook my point. What I said was why would Hasbro make the AB and Off-road molds if they were just going to make Wildrider and Slingshot out of already existing molds? That would be financial stupidity.

Not really. I'm sure AB is at least going to be Blades, if not also Vortex, and I wouldn't be surprised if Off-Road is First Aid, given how they've made Ratchet a Hummer in the movies, so off road Autobot medics are already on the table. He'll probably be Swindle as well

So I just randomly checked TRU today, and discovered a few things.
The Generations AOE figures are available, which is weird because back then it was said they were US exclusive.

Also, the new RID figures are out as well as the entire first wave of Combiner Wars. Completely insane if you ask me, we've never had a line come out so close to US release over here.

Prices have also increased; Deluxes are now 23 euros, Legends 13, and Voyagers 33. For a comparison, last year's Generations and DOTM figures (which are still there) cost 20 for a Deluxe, 30 for a Voyager. So yeah really interested in what justifies this these extra 3 euros.
And damn, these guys look so good in person, way better than pictures show them. I was tempted to get something, but resisted (not paying what MP BB cost me for a Voyager).

AoE Generations had a weird distribution in Europe. They were exclusive to Toy 'R Us, Argos and Rossmann in the UK and Germany, while they were general retail in the Netherlands, at the cost of getting only Wave 1. Plus, some stores still got US exclusives, usually the ones analogous to Target like Tesco, Real and Galeria Kaufhof, and to Walmart like ASDA and Müller.

Really? Well, I'm expecting the RiD ones to appear here, but regular Generations? No.

Here the prices of AoE Deluxes have gone down from €28 to €18. Voyagers are still €45 and Leaders a whopping €70! No wonder they're not moving

None of my local Müllers, Reals or Galeria Kaufhofs got any of them though, I kept checking them. Last time I went to TRU they also didn't have any of the DOTM Generations out, and that was two weeks ago!
So I was super surprised to see all that stuff along with the idw Generations wave 1 stuff they've had forever now.

Yup really, they look pretty good actually, especially Strongarm and that gray wolf one. If I was still in the market for non MP figures I would have grabed Strongarm.
Importing the normal Generations will be cheaper anyway.

Lol, the f**k is Hasbro Europe smoking anyway? They jack up the prices so high, do zero advertising, never release anything past wave 1 and expect people to still be interested in the toys?

Because they are based on the characters, of course. No different than any other 80's property that has been revitalized to capitalize on the next generation. To say the current line is geewun is no different than trying to say the new TMNT line is just the same as the 80's one.

The Masterpiece line is the only official line in existence that sets out to be a total redo of the G1 characters based on their original designs. When I look at them I think nothing else. But, I do not, by ANY measure, look at any figure in the Generations line from FOC on, and think G1. With one notable exception in Arcee. And they did that on purpose. The fact that all other figures either did not even exist in G1 or were drastically altered is proof of that.

My son has three step Grimlock and he is pretty cool. I really like his transformation. The only thing that sucks about it is the tail that keeps falling off because of the cheap way they designed it to fit int he package, but it is ignorable for the most part.

Happy to help! We have all of the wave one one-steps as well. Sideswipe is ok, but just a redeco of the Drift mold from AOE. Bumblebee is the best of the four as its transformation is original and very fluid. Strongarm is ok, but its transformation gets caught up sometimes when you transform it. It is unique, but is like a backpack when complete. Underbite is the lemon of the group. TERRIBLE transformation that will actually break, just like the miniature Heat Wave dino last year.

I think that Grimlock and Bumblebee are the best of the group. Sideswipe is good too, because the Drift transformation was a good one.

Yeah, I didn't like the green on Grimlock at first either, but it has grown on me since I got the three step for my son. Now, the black and green look good, especially with the bronze face it has.

Looking forward to some of the MP stuff as well, but I really like the quality of the KO's so Hasbro is going to have to give me a reason to shell out 2x more for poorer quality. I am so tempted to throw down the $200 for Magnus, but I want to see if it is going to be a KO first.

also, this situation makes perfect sense. hasbro already has a lot of peoples money for AB. and a large amount of them will buy a fifth limb if its the correct one. also dont discount the fact that IDW has generated an actual fanbase for these new characters. some have already stated that its nice to have a proper(ish) slingshot, but theyre perfectly happy with AB.

Ratbat is not Serpentor and Eject is not Rumble/Frenzy. If you were going that route I could argue that Serpentor is really Scourge.

So, that example is not comparable. If you have an apples to apples comparison, let me know.

shockblast2 wrote:They do not do that historically. Did we see Senator Rat Bat? Prime Ironhide? AOE Stinger? DOTM Soundwave? RTS Rumble & Frenzy? Scores of others. Again, doesn't make sense.
However, all of those molds were made by Hasbro, even if some of them weren't released by Hasbro or weren't released in those particular decos.

We got Ratbat's mold when it was first released as Scourge, and we'll be getting the Ratbat head a TFSS Serpent O.R.
We got Prime Ironhide's mold when it was first released as Prime Sergeant Kup.
DOTM Soundwave did get released in Hasbro's Asian markets.
The Rumble/Frenzy mold was going to be released at the end of the Reveal the Shield line a "Demolition Rumble", but it got canceled even though the mold was completed. But, we did get it as TFSS Revwind and Eject (with remolded heads).

Takara might have released them, but only because Hasbro had already made them.

Thus far, Takara hasn't made any new molds or remolds for their counterpart lines of Hasbro's Generations line (meaning United, Japanese Generations, or Legends), so it's likely that Takara's Unite Warriors release of Sling will just be a straight redeco of Hasbro's Generations Firefly. But if it does have a new head, then chances are Hasbro's will as well since Hasbro (not Takara) seems to be the brains behind the Generations molds and remolds.

And who knows? Hasbro's Slingshot might just be the Firefly mold too.

You harping that a dead line is still alive and well AND trying to claim that every Generations release is some sort of classics redux is getting old. Pathetically old.

Slingshot is dead and Wildrider doesn't exist in IDW, so that point is irrelevant.

That is irrelevant Sabre. Ratbat was never released in the US. Nor was any of the other characters you mentioned. Doesn't matter if the mold was used here. The suggestion is that because Takara potentially is rumored to release Slingshot and Wildrider in their line, that they will release it here. And yet, there is not one single example that backs this up historically as fact. If you can come up with an example of a Generations, Prime, AOE, or DOTM figure that was released over there and then here as a exclusive, then that would be a good point. Reaching by pulling examples that use the same mold, but a different character, is irrelevant to the point I made.

Well, I don't know about Hasbro putting out Slingshot and Wildwider as exclusives (I'd figure they'd just wanna put them out in the main line at mass retail), but should Hasbro put them out, I wouldn't expect that to happen based solely on Takara releasing their own, but more on longterm planning on Hasbro's part. I'd imagine that Hasbro if Hasbro were to release their own, they would so because they wanted to, not because of Takara making their own.

So, where'd the notion of "Hasbro might do it because Takara is doing it" that you're arguing against (and on which I don't disagree with you) come from?

And here I was thinking the news would be well-received. Tell me, what would be inherently wrong with Hasbro releasing Slingshot and Wildrider, even if they end up as straight redecos with new heads and as exclusives (I will admit Wildrider would be hard to swallow as such though)?

Short and to the point answers please. :???:

Nothing JeLze. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. More options means more combining fun. I think it's great. More toys and options for everyone! :D

Edit: On his own, Alpha Bravo is a really great figure. It will be cool to have Slingshot for tradition, and AB to mix it up.

Some of the members are using this rumor as concrete proof that they are going to release Slingshot and Wildrider as either regular line figures or TRU exclusives because Taraka is probably going to. Which has never happened in the past. Now, I am not saying 100%, because anything is possible of course, but I find it highly unlikely just based on mathematical probability. Its not logical based on past sales and/or releases. And I agree with your deduction. IF these are released they will be mainline figures.

have i been harping that G1 is alive and well? i sure dont recall. maybe the last time said anything on the subject was in regards to your completely made up G3 notion. i might add theres many more supporters on my side BTW.

every iteration of transformers has G1 influence. some of them (like the classics/generations lines) are HEAVILY based on G1. how you can look at CW/classics/generations and claim theyre not a redux of sorts is beyond me.

we all get it. the G1 line i long finished.
but G1 is still very much alive.

Nothing. I just do not agree with the ideology that just because Taraka is releasing it means that we will see it here. And that is based on the fact that it has never happened. Of course it could, and that is why I wouldn't say 100%, but it is highly unlikely. If it does, then great. As another member said, it just adds to the combinations one can make. But, I like the IDW ideology that Slingshot is dead and replaced with AB, and Wildrider does not exist in favor of Off-road. Makes it distinctively different than geewun, as it should be. Because G1 ended in the early 90's. This is easy for me to accept. Not sure why some others are clinging on to something that ended 25 years ago?

I see where you are going with this Sabrblade. Slingshot and Wildrider may be hasbro molds (as the TRU listing hints to) and Takara simply releases it first, or at least releases info on it first.

Name ONE Generations figure since FOC ended, besides Arcee, that looks just like its geewun counterpart? Your ideology is akin to saying that ROTF Hoist is geewun. Just because it shares the name and coloring does not mean it is the same. Is Rescue Bot Hoist Geewun Hoist?? NO.

So, if you have an example, bring it. Yes, the "spirit" of G1 is alive. Of course, because if not, then Transformers itself would be long dead and buried. These are new incarnations of them. But, they are not the same entities that existed in G1. If so, Jhaxis would not be present, nor would Ratbat, Waspinator, Rhinox, or even the new Starscream, which is EXCELLENT example of the spirit of this new line.

I can make you a Slingshot figure right now if you like. Let me have your Firefly figure. I will douse it in gasoline, light it on fire, stomp on it to put it out, and then rip its arm off. Then, you will have an accurate IDW Slingshot figure. :D
