The best thing I can say about these early release pics is that it has caused me to look at all the Scout and Deluxe figures still at the store that I passed up on the last toy line and think to myself "maybe I should get these before they get pulled and replaced with DotM figures".

I'm starting to agree with you. Disappointed that it isn't Longbow. I don't know why, But I just got a feeling it's Silverbolt.

I only collect Transformers from the movie lines, but Hasbro is really trying hard to convince me that my Hobby is stupid. With exception of the new Deluxe Ironhide, the new designs are a true step-back compared to the ROTF toy-line

Dear Primus no!
After the disappointment of learning that the upcoming Arcee and Starscream in Generations were from TF:Prime instead of G1 or WFC, this can only mean that Generations Warpath isn't that awesome tank after all! It's:
GO-BOTS WARPATH!!!!!!!!! No, No, No, No, No...
...Hmm, on second glance, it looks like his blades fold up to avoid that slicing-off-his-arms problem his predecessor had. Might be worth checking out.

I'm convinced the large hole on the side of the Mechtech weapon is where the rotor should be in robot mode, not still attached to his chest. If not, then I call mistransformation and his chest is facing the wrong way.

I completely agree with Xterminator. I only collect movieverse Transformers, but these new toys look like crap. The mech tech and the holes to attach them in vehicle mode is total fail. its almost like they are trying to ruin them on purpose.... or just cashing out one final time on this movie. Since there isnt going to be a Transformers 4 I dont think Hasbro is overly concerned with the quality this time around. There is no need to try and bring back the fans... we wont be getting another Movieverse toyline.
It really upsets me too, I think Transformers (minus the Human Transformers in 2) has been the greatest movie franchise of all time.

Green Nascar - I'll probably get this guy. Looks cool enough. Could use a lot more paint detail on the chest though. Shame.
Blue Nascar - What a mess. It's probably a no unless it turns out to be a homage to someone important like Mirage.

As for the Wreckers, I'm waiting for stock pictures from the chimpanzees at Hasbro PR department before judging them.
Now for a random thought. These toys are obviously designed simpler and with the kids in mind...much more so than the ROTF and a number of Generations and RTS figures. Could it be that we might see a Collector's Line of DOTM figures, more difficult, better articulated, and more accurate in the future? Or has this backlash from the supreme difficulty levels in the last few waves really forced Hasbro to take any adult collectors out of the thought process completely, leaving things in the hands of third party developers?

First-Aid wrote:What a phenomenal idea for the helicopter bot mode! I love the rotor-ammo belts idea! I can't agree though that this is Silverbolt though. At no point have we seen any helicopters on set (at least that I know of) so I'm going to assume that it's not him...they would at least have the copter on set. I'm leaning towards the trailer...it does appear to transform and separate in the trailer.
My notion for Silverbolt is the fact that there was never a full size F-22 Raptor on set for Starscream, they used a model of one for filming most of the scenes with him or they CG-ed it, so just because no helicopter has been on set does not discount the idea.
Also, where do you see the trailer disconnect and transform? It seems to just disappear like the G1 trailer always did... If it did transform, I figure it becomes a weapons base, not a robot. If the trailer was a robot (save for roller), then he couldn't drive around on his own in alt mode, which is pretty lame. Plus the backpack looks like the parts from Jetfire in ROTF, meaning Ratchet could have fashioned the Jetfire parts into the trailer so they could be easily transported.

I'm intrigued enough to look forward to seeing a Decepticon repaint/remold.

My guess is that the Human-Alliance sub-line will be used to fill that gap. Even though it's being expanded to include cheaper/smaller/simpler characters, I imagine that th $30 price point will persist with new runs of Bumblebee and Sideswipe, and the addition of the Ferrari, the 3 Nascars, and the Mercedes. That's a lot of HA figures. If they go up to a $40 point (unlikely) they could also do Ratchet, Ironhide, and the Dreads - wasn't there a rumor about a 'leader-class' Ironhide ages ago?

The helicopter is sort of cool, but I've got to wait on most of these figures to get a better idea of them - for instance; exactly how far out back do those blades extend beyond his chest? It might look odd.... Though I do like the design / aesthetics so far. I certainly hope he's in the film so I can see a better version.

Fires_Of_Inferno wrote:Why is everyone so off on the arms? If Blackouts' figure had accurate arms they would be slightly crooked at the elbow too. At least that's what I could figure from the CGI model. The way I figure, the less human their features are the better. S'why I loved Bonecrusher, Hightower, Mixmaster, Scalpel, and all the various little beastformers. Having funky elbows isn't so bad.
It makes them look feeble, like they could easily snap off in battle. I like the unique designs myself like the Arcee's and Demolishor, but those arms clash with the rest of the humanoid proportions.

I like how the rotor transforms for the copter-bot. Wonder if it can pop off and be used as a hand weapon.

Evil_the_Nub wrote:I think kirbenvost is right about the rotor on the chest. The blades in the alt mode pic look like they have tabs on them and wrap around the body. It's an interesting new idea and as long as it doesn't obstruct anything then there's no harm in it. I hope the arms are mistransformed, it looks like there's some hinge action going on in there so they'll fold in better. The nascar guys look pretty good, but not spectacular.
Yeah, I like kirbs' ammo belt plan too. Aside from that dumb gun I think the copter guy is all around nice looking, but I'm just not into the whole giant gun idea as of yet. We can apply any of the existing arguements to that opinion that we want to, but I think in all honesty, it's something I'm going to have to hold in my hand before I can solidify a thought. But coptrman, mmmm. He's going to end up on my shelf.

Gimme 5 seconds with it. Oh wait, did you mean "on purpose"? That I'm not sure of but my first inclination is to say that it probably doesn't. If it did they likely would not have gone to the trouble of hinging the blades but then again, you just can't tell with Hasbro these days.

I hope you're just messing around.
He's just an incredibly overrated auto racer, that's all.

It is different without being a crazy unicycle or bug bot like the last movie suffered from.
The cars are pretty weak though. The blue one will have to look VERY cool in store to sell me. The Green one is a lot better, but not a must-buy.

That said, he looks like an excellent TF, and one of the few DOTM figs I actually plan to buy. Funny how most of the good figs we've seen so far are actually the ones NOT featured in the movie.
As usual, I'm still holding out for leader class OP, Megs and Shockwave.

If we're lucky he'll be in the game, like Breakaway was for RoTF. Someone I really wished had made it in, if only for a second, just so he could be "in" the movie.

I've been waiting for a NASCAR Transformer, too. Hell, it might've happened years ago if Hasbro hadn't sold Winners Circle -the NASCAR-focused diecast car brand- in 2001, which was eventually mutilated so badly under a merger from '06-'10 that the new owner of it (Lionel LLC) has decided not to keep it in production. I'm glad to see Hasbro has ties with NASCAR again, though. It would be cool if the repaints of the Wreckers were of Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin, the other two of Hendrick Motorsports.
And actually, I thought Optimus Prime would've been cool in the movies as Jeff Gordon's hauler with his similar color scheme to the #24 car (at least through 2008), and he could've carried twin Autobot/drone stock cars in the trailer.

Besides that, they don't look bad, the Helicopter could make some decent kitbashes, Vortex maybe.
