The toy is heavily retooled from Titans Returns Galvatron, with only the legs being instantly recognisable from the molds previous user.

It's still kinda weird to me that this is an actual thing. They announced it on April 1st, so of course I didn't think it was real. Why would they use a design that, for the longest time, I thought was just concept art? I mean, where does this design even come from? What series? I love it, and I want it, but I don't know where it came from other than from ONE picture that I saw years ago. Why does it have TLK Megatron's battle mask? Again, I love it, but why?
And how many Sir Robert Bordens will it cost me?

They announced it on April 5, 2019 Japan Time (which was April 4, 2019 U.S. Time).Fires_Of_Inferno wrote:Man they just keep going with this April Fools prank, don't they?

It's not concept art as back in 1991-2, it was never going to be a toy. This was how super Megatron looked in the Return of Convoy art that was produced for the story pages.
As for the battle mask, I'd say that was a fun homage to the last bay movie.
I'm curious as to why you think it was an April Fools given that it was revealed after then. Plus they've been teasing it since last year, when we learned of Star Convoy... If memory serves.

Oh, didn't even know that. My only knowledge of it was this article. https://www.seibertron.com/transformers ... led/44683/
My fault for being too lazy to read a single paragraph at the time. I dun played myself. I mean, almost a week afterwords I was like "oh this is real" but that's still an embarrassingly long time.

You're not alone. I too, never knew that Megs was a thing.
I feel I should preorder it. Even then, maybe it will be at a better price at Mandarake. Since when it will come out, Corona Chan should have calmed her tits by then, no?

Wait.
It IS Animated Megs, but improved and more dangerous than ever!
This make me want him even more.

The only thing "overpriced" about him is the "exclusivity tax". But with all the added parts compared to the TR Galvatron original, the added parts make him at least jump into the Leader bracket.
Too bad about the horrible exchange rate for me though...

I guess eventually everything on TFWiki with a G1 tag will get a Generations or Takara release?

That was the big let down with mine. Dai Atlas just doesn't like to stay together. his mid-torso connection is crap

you could just give him some 3rd party swords to complete the look yes i believe animated megatron got some inspiration from super megatron especially in the helmet area

Likewise, Animated Optimus took some inspiration from Star Convoy's torso.Ultra Markus wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:You could argue that this is a generations take on Animated Megatron, just without the helicopter alt

Then, Hasbro made that Activator redeco with Star Convoy's little yellow chest crest to make the homage even more acute.

Exactly so!
Hopefully there are no major QC issues when we see a review this Megatron. IMO the tip of his megatron cannon should have been dark to match the dark paint used and not red. Ya hear that Toyhax???

Like how Earthrise Optimus almost had gray hands instead of blue?

Also I can remember the activators prime now that you've mentioned it Shame Animated didn't go further, they might have used that deco on a voyager classed prime (though I do know they wanted powermaster Prime for the fourth season. Was there ever any designs for that?)

YRQRM0 wrote:Even though I have no context for the design it looks like a really fun Megatron toy. I wish I had experience with TR Galvatron to get a better idea of if I actually want this
I wouldn't worry too much, there isn't much actual real world context to go off of anyways besides a single manga issue from the late 80s. (Which I believe will be re-released in the Manga Vol 3 later this year, so theres that). I think the simple version of it is that this is G1 Megatron after he was Galvatron. I think.
But who needs context when he's this badass looking

Not only that, but this Megs look like he can have 12 robot modes alone. And I'm pretty sure we could pull off a few extra vehicle modes as well. He's the new RID Dragon Megatron.

ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:I imagine if it did exist, it would be a shadow of the original.
In many aspects yes but I imagine the core transformation could be redone fairly easily. The issue is that figures have gotten cheaper with the plastic compared to the late Beast-era engineering of the Gigatron figure. However for people like me who can't get their hands on the original, a remake would be 'decent enough'.

If it's organs you're selling, you might as well opt for them to go the full mile of just making a straight reissue of the original, since it's still a phenomenal figure by today's standards.Skritz wrote:RID Megatron/Gigatron, now there's a figure I'd sell a few organs for a CHUG remake. Heck, if you're selling organs you could easily afford one off eBay.Sabrblade wrote:If it's organs you're selling, you might as well opt for them to go the full mile of just making a straight reissue of the original, since it's still a phenomenal figure by today's standards.Skritz wrote:RID Megatron/Gigatron, now there's a figure I'd sell a few organs for a CHUG remake. An Encore reissue would be nice. And since he doesn't have electronics, there wouldn't be a risk of new voice clips from the show VA for Takara to get so caught up in hyping that they didn't attend to quality control.
On a somewhat related note... How well do resin-cast and 3D-printed ball joints hold up? I have an RiD Galvatron with only one foot/dragon head, so I've been considering duplicating the existing one in resin.

Honestly if I was really selling organs I'd get the Botcon 2016 BW Megatron retool.

Isn't the ship time greater than the length of time the virus can live on a surface? I mean, I've gotten a few figures on Ebay from China and they've always taken at least three weeks to show up. Now someone infected could cough all over the box when it hits our port, but I think the imported germs would be dead.Skritz wrote:-Kanrabat- wrote:Sarahthecutevixen wrote:It was January 13th
