The set will be priced ¥16,200 (approx. $135 USD), and available at retail in February 2016, with preorders late September/early October. There are some interesting deco changes in the figures, especially Optimus, so take a look below at the mirrored images!

Funny how much difference just painting OP's combiner chest grey makes.

Yeah dat Hasbro Streaker deco is boss. I already have 3/5 hasbro release, so I'll wait for a restock in my area for him and Ironhide. Tak has done a great job.

Why would Brawn be red, though? They need a red arm for the Grand Convoy homage.RiddlerJ wrote:They should've used Brawn for the Offroad redeco. He changes into a truck too, and already has the kibble behind his head. Plus no really distinctive chest details to get ruinud by the combiner peg (unlike Ironhide and his windshield chest) It also would've given us a classics Brawn that's bigger than a legends

I'm no fan of these toys but I do agree with this statement. The obvious pegs were one of the things I disliked most about this toyline but the Takara repaints here go a long way to making them much less noticable as you say. If I wanted to buy these I'd definitely go Takara.

Actually if they wanted to do that Ironhide would have been orange. Also, Why didn't they paint the center chest area?

So am I, this ends up being pretty much the same thing as the Hasbro version but with slightly better deco in some places (Mirage and Prowl for instance, Hasbro's sunstreaker is more to my taste).
The fact that they didnt colour the chest blows hard. And yes, that fact alone has swayed me into no longer being interested in acquiring this version.

That price is a bad sign, that's the price Defensor was at due to him having to be acquired from Hong Kong and not Japan. That probably means he wont be at amiami or other japan e-tailers offering discounts.

I am at least glad that they did paint what they could on the Combiner Mode torso to bring out as much of the Grand Convoy homage in the mold as possible.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I'm a little saddened that Takara didn't go all out on the Grand Convoy homage with Optimus's deco.

Ya, paint doesn't hold so well on the more rubbery plastics. Also there might be a risk of scrapping as that piece rotates in and out of the chest cavity.Sabrblade wrote:It's probably unpaintable plastic.Railbomb wrote:Also, Why didn't they paint the center chest area?

He's a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive, so AmiAmi and HLJ won't carry them.
So Hasbro Asia probably charges more knowing they are exclusive in Japan. Hasbro Asia supplies most of BBTS's Transformers.

What is a "real" combiner?
Meaning the one in classic canon, not from a 12yo fanfic. I mean, it's funny to see Optimus and Co combine, but they were never meant as a combiner. There's still so many combiners to come out yet without having to pull some out of our asses. Sure some classic characters need to come out in the Generations line, but most collectors already have them so they are kinda pointless... Except for the newcomers to the franshise, of course.
Still, if for some reason they decide to make some seeker limbs, I'm not sure I will be able to resist.
Anyway, there's still many classic combiners to come out, many that will need brand new molds. Bruticus is already announced, but there's still Predaking, King Poseidon, Computron, and some others I may not know.
Speaking of Combiner OC, why not make a DINOBOTS combiner? A Grimlock torso and 4 limbs. If Optimus can combine, so can they. And people have been asking for one since forever. We ALMOST had it with PCC.

I agree that we need all of those combiners you mentioned, but aren't you getting Devastator? I am getting the UW version cuz it's the most g1 accurate, but Devastator was the ORIGINAL combiner. Even though he may be bigger, he still belongs in everyone's G1 cannon collection.
I also think Bruticus is a must have for me, especially since I don't have Defensor. I like Bruticus better than Defensor.

Oh, rest assured that I have Devastator as well. I pre-ordered it from TrU a month in advance and paid lamost 220$CAN. HOWEVAH, one month later, TrU make a sale. 30% off any TFs at 20$+. Sure, Devy sold out fast. Thanks to TrU's sale policies, I could have almost 60$CAN refunded!

Pretty cool! Like I said I'm waiting for the Unite Warriors version, which means I'll probably get em about Christmas time. I gotta say, the UW version is pretty damn close to MP as far as I can tell. I hope the UW version fixes some of the tolerances, especially the tab connections and Bonecrusher's crotch piece connections (I tried to make it not sound weird).

P.S. I'll be using Optimus Maximus as his proper US counterpart as that's the full proper giant, rendering the regular Optimus Prime as an extra torso like Cyclonus.

Licensing usually only applies to names and models, not actual race car numbers. The number "26" was able to be used on all Mirage toys up to Combiner Wars, in fact Smokescreen is still sporting his signature "38" on his upcoming CW toy:

1: If Takara or Hasbro were to redeco the aerialbots into 4 seekers (SW, TC, AS, SunStorm) with new heads (the same one), would that recieve more cheers than groans?
2: Predaking is probably being kept for a Titan Class release, since he wasnt scramble city.
3: Of course, you are referring to dinosaur molds right? because people were throwing out the idea of recolouring the stunticons in dinobot colours and I know that would have pissed me off to no end. I would rather have redeco'd dino molds with new heads than just vehicles pretending this is their "before earth" modes.

Recolored arealbots as seekers would NEVER work. It would need a new mold or some major retooling.
And yes, I want ANIMALS in my CW.
A TITANT class Predaking....
YES PLEASE!
But it will never happen.

I beg to differ. I am actually certain it will happen and it not being done for CW tells me it will. Hasbro said they plan on doing one Titan Class toy a year from now on and there arent that many in the Western fiction that are well known. We already got Metroplex and Devy. Next up would probably be Fort Max, and from there all we have left is Unicron, Pimus, Omega Supreme and Predaking. So yeah, if a Predaking isnt released for CW, then we will surely see one within the next 5 years.

Is it possible that they could be referring to the possible complexity of getting a machine to paint the details on the concave surfaces?
Or was everyone referencing the spark-looking thing?
Also, I would buy that, slap the 'nemesis' look onto any figure, I would consider getting it
