S250 provides this in package image of Walmart Exclusive Universe Hardhead. Hardhead is a repaint of Transformers Universe Onslaught. This is the first ever repaint of this Ultra class Universe mold, and has been long predicted by community members. However, at this point, there appears to be no remolding in the character, only repainting to be similar in color to G1 Hardhead.
The toy is expected to hit WalMart stores in the month of October 2009.

Don't you dare destroy the Silverbolt mold. I think it's great and have each variant thus far. Looking forward to the Skyfall. As for Hardhead, I think Hasbro picked a decent figure to homage, less the headmaster thing. Colors are right, it's a miltary-like vehicle, and the face-mask fits in with original G1. I'll be picking this one up.

Ok Ok i wont destroy it, but i wish hasbro would do something really different with that mold and its getting old too. I have Silverbolt and Darkwind, and i would say i MIGHT get Skyfall, but i will have to see him on the shelf to make the decision... I guess i see it this way, hasbro has money, alot of money and im sure they can come up with new dies and molds for us and I'm sure everyone would agree. right?

At least it's not a completely new figure that's exclusive to a certain store, that would only add to the frustration
I don't have Onslaught, so I'll be getting him... Or ask my in-laws to get him for me if I have the guts

I will now state the obvious: Unfortunately, Hasbro is just a business with the goal to become as profitable as possible. If they can convince us to buy 10 repaints of each mold, then they would have no problem doing it. Sometimes through clever marketing they are successful. That is why I need to have at least three repaints (Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp) of each Seeker mold (encore, classics, masterpiece, titanium, WST) because my inner 10 year old thinks that is badass. Hasbro's marketing from 25 years ago still has an effect on me.
Hasbro will try to get away with as many repaints as possible.
I personally have a hard time buying a repaint of the same mold but for a different faction. I can see bots from the same faction being similar, but across factions it seems a bit contrived.

Back on subject, I just bought Onslaught from Big Bad Toy Store as I really, really like the mold, never had the money when he was in stores and got a killer deal on an Universe Ultra case on clearance.
I'll have to see more pics to make a final decision though.
As for Roadbuster, he was already released in a two pack with Dirge as a Target exclusive, so don't hold your breath on that.

For some reason, I'd prefer Hardhead from the Wreckage or Universe Tank Megatron mold.

Wow. This is amazing. I have no experience with Hardhead, but he looks cool. I don't know who he is or what he does, but thaqt anti-Decepticon symbol won me over. Just like the original cartoon G.I.Joe movie, when Sgt. Slaughter's men had anti-Cobra symbols.
Iloveitiloveitiloveit.

Why? It makes about as much sense for G1 Jeep Roadbuster to become an APC as it does for G1 Future Tank Hardhead to become one, in fact Hardhead as a transition is actually a fair bit more sensible.

Well If you read the IDW comics this is similar to Hardhead's Earth alt mode. With a little modding we could have a single cannon on there instead of two......

buddhaquest wrote:a while back someone noted that this mold should be repainted as Snaptrap...
Oh, wow, yes, Snaptrap's colour scheme would work great with this mold, especially with the similarity of shape and twin cannons. I'm liking this. It'll be like an Alternator Snaptrap.

I might very well pick this one up, anyway, just because it's Hardhead and the U2.0 Onslaught mold wasn't that bad. (Not sorry I passed on it, though, just because Hasbro ended up coming up with this...)

I'm with you. Same goes for TFCC Nightbeat. What good is an updated Headmaster without a Headmaster head?
(Still getting it. I'm a sucker.)

Very true. Nightbeat went from a Headmaster to an Energon "combat class" figure (able to combine with other deluxe and ultra class Autobot figures from Energon, though it doesn't really work so well with the ultra class). Should still be a Headmaster though.
I do think I'll pick this one up though.
DevastaTTor wrote:I was actually really disappointed in Onslaught-and I don't even know why. Just one of those figures that didn't work for me. I do like this repaint a lot though. The shield is priceless.
Pretty much why I passed on Onslaught. Just one of those things where I'm not sure why not, but I just couldn't be bothered with picking it up when I saw it.

Mkall wrote:Only thing that really annoys me about this mold is the lack of a respectible blaster. THat flip-out one just doesn't cut it. Now I'll have to find something else...
This is my main criticism of the figure. I think it's a great mold, it really captures the essence of Onslaught and brings it into a contemporary design BUT the lack of an impressive sidearm is odd when you consider its stature, the double cannons on its back, and its riot shield accessory. I mean, it's basically a design concept all about going into heavy duty battle except that it lacks a BFG.
That being said, I picked up a loose & complete Universe 2.0 Onslaught on eBay for $17.00 including shipping and I can't wait for it.
Just to stray slightly from the topic, does anyone have the Takara repaint of Onslaught? From photos and seeing the Hasbro Onslaught in person, I prefer the less G1 accurate colours because they seem less garish. The more muted colours of the Hasbro Onslaught works better in my eyes for the alt mode as it makes it more convincing as a heavy duty vehicle.

I've been passing on the Hasbro version for months and picked up the USA Edition at Auto Assembly last week (along with Silverbolt). It blows the Hasbro version out of the water, lovely shiny finish, flawless paint aps, proper colours. The only USA Edition that I've passed on is Powerglide, and that's only because I'm waiting for the Hasbro repaint now that it's confirmed that it's got the light grey arms.

Rumor: Reprolabels will release an upgrade kit which will change the shield to a 'No Fat Chicks' symbol.

Hmm, good thing I got the North American paint job Onslaught on the cheap then. I think that once I get it, if I really like the mold in person, I'll look for the Takara version.
I think I could display US Onslaught with a more contemporary grouping of my Transformers since his paint job is more convincing for a "realistic" alt vehicle mode. I then could display Takara Onslaught with a more G1 inspired grouping of figures. Now to find the space...

Haha, then caption a photo with Hardhead turning any of the wide hips Arcee prototypes away from a nightclub.
"No fatties. Move along."
I kid, I kid. I love Arcee. She's all woman. And robot.

metal-lifter wrote:I have Onslaught already and I have to say he's......"alright". The shield part is probably the best part on him. Personally I don't see whats so great about the repaint, but to each his own right?
Truth be told, my immediate reaction to seeing the two versions of Onslaught side by side is that I prefer the Hasbro version because I like the colour scheme for the more contemporary look and concept of the Universe/Classics lines. The colours still homage G1 Onslaught, just not in the same brighter shade.
On the other hand, I'm a big G1 fan so I really like the Takara paint job too.
I'm looking to find a suitable gun for Onslaught as he has just an arm mounted pea shooter. I may have to see if there are any flea markets or garage sales going on in the area on the weekend to see if I can scavenge some spare parts.

As we made known before, Hardhead is the repaint of the Universe Onslaught.
In the toy listing, we manage to take a look on the front & back view of Hardhead toy box.
It is unfortunate that we could not read his combat biography clearly from the image, however it is confirmed that this toy does not receive any retooling except the paint job.

Yeah, it has 11 crossed out Autobot symbols. It's on the right side of the front section of the tank.
I like Hardhead's bio. Nothing subtle about the guy, huh?
