Masterpiece Optimus Primal New Color Images

That is stunning in colour. The light up eyes are going to genuinely look alive.

The paint is absolutely stunning!

Well I absolutely want one of those.

i want to see a side by side comparison with the 10th anniversary beast wars optimus primal!

ooooo yeah, they decided to have the cg model come to life and thus have the fur still there but simply as deco over a smooth surface. Love you Takara, never change!

Extremely cool. But I was always more impressed with the gorilla mode since that was the initial selling point a year ago and the place where the update was more needed. I cant wait to see that mode in colour.

And that is precisely why I needed a cartoon accurate beast head; He looks absolutely glorious, it just can't be done justice, it's beautiful, thank you TT

Kinda wish that had had the beast mode colored, but at least now we have a good idea what it will look like with that paint detail on the fur in robot mode

My only complaint is the back of his beast mode feet. No one has complained since these images surfaced.

If anything, this shows us just how good he is coming out and how lucky we are that he is this good so far

He looks amazing. I can practically hear Garry Chalks voice coming from him. I hope we get a release date for him soon because I can't wait.

I couldn't find it here, but Cyberpath gave some release dates. I think Summertime around June

I know I did this same five-video reaction for Transmetal 3 Megatron, but I feel it is equally appropriate for MP-31 Convoy (Beast Wars):

Wow. He looks like he stepped right off the screen in robot mode. Obviously the beast mode had to suffer a little bit in the legs department, but short of the weird heel spurs and the robot parts on the tops of the thighs, even the beast mode looks amazing. I love the upright stance of the beast mode, really captures the character a lot. This will be my first MP in a while, and I am not hesitating at all on it. He looks phenomenal!

My only complaint is that they couldn't find a way to fit the swords into the beast mode. They should have been able to do something. Minor issue since he didn't use the swords all that much anyway. The forearm guns and shoulder cannons both looks great.

That is simply amazing. I've never looked forward to an MP figure as i have with this one.

Yeah I think a simple 3rd party foot mod will get me on board for this. Looks much better in color.

big waste of money and a totally unnecessary mold. looks so much like others that came before it. and with so few improvements its a joke of a masterpiece figure. now we can look forward to 3 or 4 more repaints of it.

The alt mode looks like all the other we have seen before? We are not looking at the same figure.

Think I would be onboard with it if I knew they were going to make a masterpiece BW Megatron T-Rex. Then I'd be all in without a doubt! Having those two in MP form would be the perfect centerpiece for me.

To me it doesn't look like a masterpiece, so much as a logical progression given improvements in toy design - like thrilling 30 Rhinox and Rattrap.

That's not a complaint, mind you - it's just the Beast Wars toys were much better than G1 toys and the animation models closer to the show, so while this is perfect, or close to it, it doesn't seem like the feat of engineering some of the masterpiece figures do.

It seems like a really great voyager class figure, like Thrilling 30 Springer; there's a lot of care and creativity evident in its design, but the level of complexity that was necessary to achieve perfection, and thus the manufacturing cost to produce it, don't seem like they would warrant the normal masterpiece price tag.

I would have been totally fine with them sacrificing the LEDs if it dropped the price.

We're used to G1 Masterpiece perfection, but the problem is those are turning a static blocky altmode into a blocky robot. The Beast Wars designs are fundamentally different.

The biggest, biggest difference is that there are no hidden sides of a Beast Mode. A car or truckformer can stuff loads of junk on its underside, but what can an apeformer do?

That and panel lines + joints are always going to look awkward on a beastmode (well, maybe it can be circumvented on those w/ plated bodies, but an Ape ain't one of those).

Optimus Primal has the same amount of care and engineering in his design as every other Masterpiece; it's just that he's a tougher subject to portray.

In a scale of 1 to 5, my love for G1 is 6!

For BW, it's like 3. But this "munkey" is gonna be mine! You don't ignore a "masterpiece" such as this.

Depending on where and for how much the orders show up, I may just have to buy my first Masterpiece figure. This guy is almost too gorgeous for me to actually pass up....

Still, this figure can consider itself bought.

His jets didn't really deploy, they were just sorta always there at the base of his backpack.

But ooohhhh, I hadn't thought about a flight stand......

I am guessing these are your exact same thoughts on MP Shockwave right?

This is a beautiful toy, it really is. I love that the beast mode can stand upright as well as hunched over, but I must say, with this being a masterpiece and all, I was really hoping for some kind of miracle of engineering that would have given him knees in beast mode. I'm impressed at how close it is to the animation model in both modes! But I think I might be holding out for the inevitable toy-accurate version with white feet, some slight paint alterations and a full faceplate, and now I think about it, a toy-accurate version should really have a wonderfully detailed mutant head as well. The first wave toys and their packaging bios hold a whole other interesting Beast Wars continuity I would like to see revisited for the anniversary. Perhaps a 3rd party will make an upgrade kit with white feet and a new head...

This one comes with the faceplated face.

I'll be interested to see how they compare in terms of size and metal content, but, yeah I could see the same thing being true for Shockwave.
