Several different Seibertronians have sent us word that Machinima has officially announced two sequels to the Transformers: Combiner Wars series that ran throughout the months of August and September. These 2 sequels are to be titled 'Titans Return', as we figured it would, and the third series is to be titled 'Power of the Primes', which may be a clue as to what the third part of the Primes Wars Trilogy is to be titled. You can check out the press release HERE and catch a brief look as to what the articles says below from a press release sent to us!

MACHINIMA AND HASBRO ANNOUNCE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FINAL TWO CHAPTERS OF HIT TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED SERIES THE PRIME WARS SAGA

‘TITANS RETURN’ AND ‘POWER OF THE PRIMES’ WOULD FOLLOW THE GLOBAL SUCCESS OF ‘COMBINER WARS,’ WHICH GARNERED 122 MILLION GLOBALLY

Following the massive worldwide interest in Transformers: Combiner Wars, Machinima, the first Many2Many programming service focused on fandom and gamer culture, and Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAS), a global play and entertainment company, announced today that they will join forces to develop Titans Return and Power of the Primes, the final two installments of the animated Prime Wars trilogy. Since launching the trilogy’s first installment in August 2016, Transformers: Combiner Wars, has garnered more than 122 million global views on a wide variety of platforms, including go90 (United States), SkyQ (U.K.), AMC Iberia (Spain and Portugal), Sohu (China), and YouTube (rest of world).
The first sequel, The Titans Return, will take the action of the series to new “heights,” and feature return appearances from many fan-favorite Transformers characters as well as introduce a new set of Autobots and Decepticons. Set in the period following the excitement of The Combiner Wars, the depleted forces of Cybertron and a broken Council of Worlds must now face-off against a new threat that is larger than anything that has come before.

Combiner Wars Executive Producer and Showrunner Eric Calderon is returning to oversee the development of the final two installments.

Absolutely no friggin' clue what gimmick that could be though. Then again, not like the name Titans Return would immediately make you think Headmasters.

An off the cuff guess...probably a toy line focusing on the 13 primes. Many have never had an official toy representation, this might be Hasbro's way of introducing them. If that were the case though, that would kind of kill, or make very difficult the idea of the next line being beast Themed, what with the hinting of Onyx Prime in the IDW TF comic, aside from a figure of him himself. But a toy line consisting of all, or mostly primes would sure get cumbersome one would think...but who knows.

One thing is for sure, Machimina's Titans Return will show very few Titans if at all, and Power of the Primes will have almost no Primes appear, if they are consistent that is... ;)

I am mentally preparing for further damage to my psyche do to the characters making me wish for their agonizing demise. Hell I still want to see that version of windblade torn apart by energon bullhooks wielded to the wall and her spark ripped out of her body and crushed before her eyes in front of a giant mirror so she may watch herself die. but i would settle for character development that makes her likeable i guess

I just realised that the problem I have with this Windblade is the exact same problem I have with Live-action Optimus - a generally diplomatic Autobot who wants only peace but will fight as a last resort to protect what is important to them - all of which are interesting and likeable traits if done right; and have been enough to make G1 Optimus an icon and IDW Windblade very good - turned into nothing but a bloodthirsty murderer hellbent on slicing through their enemies' necks.

Yeah, I would guess it is the 13 Primes coming together, battling each other and then teaming up with their titans and combiners against Unicron. Lots of the comics interviews have said they have avoided Unicron on purpose, but someone has a great idea on how to use him. I am guessing Leader Class Primes, and some other characters in smaller formats.

Did they....did they read any of the major reviews?! Everything that I read from other sites (although I admit I didn't read much, to try and keep my reviews original and not copypastes.) was negative. Yes there were very definitely positives in the series but really?

I hope they at least consider fixing the biggest issues, or else this'll be a just as bad.

Ughhh.

How ironic considering I was just commenting on Youtube yesterday about how unlike the original series CW was. In fact I don't think it could have been any more dissimilar to the original series. Thankfully I'm not on facebook. Probably folks that haven't seen the series since it originally went off the air.

“The global fan base has really embraced this vision of the Transformers,” said Machinima CEO Chad Gutstein, “and we are thrilled to be working closely with Hasbro developing the next two installments of the series.”

If this series was aimed at older collectors/fans, and if we can agree that places like Seibertron, YouTube comments under the actual Combiner Wars videos, and other sites, like TFW2005, Allspark, etc are legitimate places for such fans to give their opinions, then it's completely untrue that "the global fan basws really embraced" the festering, half-@rsed dung-heap that this web "series"/episode really was.

Children, arguably, don't count, as it was implied, heavily, that this show was aimed at the older collector/fan. The term "global" doesn't really count, either, as it was geo-blocked in some countries, like Japan, where Transformers arguably CAME FROM.

What the idiots at Hasblow Marketing and the slowly dieing Machinima mistakenly believe is that "millions of YouTube views" equals "popularity". It's the same idiocy that's allowed their marketing department to prostitute the intro countless, disposable, irrelevant P2W mobile games.

Vote with your views, folks. Veto the next shows and episodes. In fact, if possible, we could convince Seibertron, and the other sites to veto news about the episodes when they are released, by not giving links or stories about them. If that were possible, without FORCING them to, how could we do it?

(Swypos and typos due to Seibertron not being mobile friendly)

I was going to point to where I called this on a podcast, but I didn't. It was while hanging out with friends and I was going to run through my thoughts on the next comic only show >< Ah well.

So yeah, as you point out, the IDW books have been putting out some smoke signals that something like this is on the way. There's Onyx as you mentioned, plus A3 who's been around awhile and was on a journey in Metroplex with a map at one point of an as-yet-unresolved story. Nexus is dead but has been mentioned, Micronus is an in-universe thing now, the Camiens descend from Solus, the OP book seems to be hinting at Quintus through covers/solicits, based on the Luna 1 material I'd say Liege Maximo is going to matter for Lost Light, Prima and Megatronus write themselves, Amalgamous can be literally anything, then of course there's OP if they go full bore Aligned and have him be Thirteen. Vector Prime can also come from wherever whenever (how great would it be if he was in a briefcase?), and that just leaves Alchemist who is of course the one I always forget and have to look up.

Phew.

Of course this show will probably make 3/4ths of them dead on arrival, have two just be energy blobs and have like one actual appearance of some Prime that's four seconds long in which said Prime will be super angsty and kill some other character because it'll be garbage. Hopefully Hasbro gives the folks working on it a budget where they can show what they're really capable of.

Sorry, but we'll be covering this to every reasonable extent in the timeliest manner possible (within the real life time constraints of our hard working news team) as it is an official Hasbro Transformers media project.

Put another way, we're still covering Revolution, and that's some bad material. It's officially relevant to the Transformers brand for better or worse though, so in the news cycle it remains.

I am serious. IF enough people could convince the various news sites, possibly together, to limit or veto the news about these videos, then possibly it would affect viewing figures. One possible solution would be to report tube news, but not provide links to the videos themselves. The news sites are covered, but the videos don't get hotlinked. That's perfectly reasonable, providing enough people voiced their desire for such a method, or similar, to be employed.

Not going to happen. You'll find that most sites have long established good relations with Hasbro, suddenly deciding to not run news on a particular subject because "the entire fandom hated it" (which let's be honest, like the movies it's a vocal minority).

Oh and your signature is too large as per our site guidelines. I can fix it for ya if you like but most people don't like what I give them. :-P

G1 is camp fun but a lot of people treat it as the be-all end-all of Transformers fiction, placing it on an impossible pedestal and refusing to acknowledge its flaws or recognize any other iteration of the franchise as contributing anything positive or having any noteworthy attributes. It's the plot and the animation that is garbage not the design of the show which is ok but it's not even original which to be honest due to people like the Facebook fans we will most likely never see an original Transformers project again after Rid is done besides the Bay movies which a vocal minority and the hard core G1 fans dislike because it has to be G1 only because everything else is a turd and my childhood was raped thanks Obama Bay.

Back to the theory of what Power of the Primes entails I'm thinking we'll see each figure in the line representing one of the Thirteen Primes' institutions. So that would mean Minicons representing Micronus Prime, beasts representing Onyx Prime, Combiners representing Nexus Prime and so on as well as some of the actual Thirteen. Could end up being a lot of variety if done this way, like mini factions.

This is what I'm hoping for. I would love a Nexus Prime toy done in the style of the Combiner Wars combiners, Hasbro could even be lazy and repaint the Combaticons if they wanted, seeing as the original Nexus Prime was a repaint of Energon Bruticus Maximus. I think Mini-Cons are likely to be involved in some way, Robots in Disguise has been Mini-Con heavy since it started, so I can see Hasbro wanting to add them to other areas and make them even more prominent.

I can partially agree with this. Yeah, there was some good voice acting (Jon 3.0) but it was overshadowed by some incredibly terrible voice acting (whoever did Starscream)

The voice of Megatron was also a win. Man I loved that Megatron

Actually, Nexus Prime replaced one of the tanks and one of the helicopters with two aerialbots.
It'd still be really cool though and I feel it's been a missed opportunity, especially by Botcon/the club. Air Raid, Slingshot, Blades, Onslaught, Brawl... would've been so easy. Just needed a new combiner head too.

Funny thing: that is almost the exact same molding as CW Bruticus used, just with the Air Raid replacing Swindle mold. So, I don't think I'm that disappointed in how it turned out there. Maybe we'll get some new molds and a better tank mold for a Nexus Prime

Well the tone of the comment made me think otherwise, but yeah I'm a big G1 fan myself and thought it wasn't very good it was more like a bad fan made YouTube video
The only thing it had going for it was the likeness of the characters
My thought is the devestaion game made a better G1 cartoon than that :-?

I'd say that the only one whose acting was really bad was the Mistress of Flame, while the only one who was royally miscast was Menasor. To me, the rest of the characters both had voices that were decent and acting that range from passable to really good (Megatron takes the cake for having the best acting and best voice).

For Starscream, though, I felt Frank Todaro gave two kinds of performances. His first performance was as Starscream before he turned into a screaming star. That performance was, IMO, really good. I dug his more mature, grown-up take on Starscream before we learned that it was all a lie. Which leads me to his second performance, in which Starscream went completely bonkers in the end. THAT performance was abysmal. Not just for its ruining the meaningful essence of the first performance, but also in that it was just plain awful to listen to, with Screamer yelling everything in the most annoying way possible.

That's my point, though. The nutcases on Facebook blindly praised this show because of its using G1 likenesses. Had it used the likenesses of, say, the 2001 Robots in Disguise cartoon, I doubt all of those people would have given it as much praise as they did. The fact that the show used G1 likenesses is how it garnered such a following on Facebook, since all those people want to see G1 likenesses ("not the stupid Bayformers or RID kiddie crud!") and this show gave them what they wanted, even if the show itself turned out to be garbage.

Oh and your signature is too large as per our site guidelines. I can fix it for ya if you like but most people don't like what I give them. :-P

That's interesting. Reminds me of "Future Publishing", which went up against the video games industry (well, Sega) and have a game a bad review, so Sega blacklisted the offending magazine. A precursor to the death of videogames magazines due, partly, to "corruption". Then "we" all got out news online and on YouTube and then..

Anyway, it was just an idea. The main thing is for fans to not watch the new shoes. If enough people don't watch the shows, the drop in views might convince Hasbro to at least avoid making "for da fans" shows. But sad, but then they can leave them to the experts, which are the fans themselves.

As for the sig, go ahead. I already reduced the size once, but anything is much appreciated. Thanks for the kind offer. Most sites, quite rightly, would just remove it and/or offer a warning, etc, so beggars can't be choosers! If i don't like it, i can always make a different one, that's hopefully smaller!

Yeah, the Facebook fans are pretty terrible. I'm convinced that a lot of them didn't actually watch the Combiner Wars series, and just praised it solely because it had that G1 aesthetic. In fact, I'm completely convinced that they're the reason that we don't often see product images posted on Facebook anymore because they trashed ANYTHING that WASN'T Generations. They're a little too vocal and hostile to change for my taste, frankly.

Going back through the same Facebook page to the posts for each individual episode when they aired reveals even more disturbing comments of foolish praise.

When Episode 1 aired:

"I didn't think it was bad. It's better than Bayformers. I just wish they could've gotten a different voice actor for Menasor. I can live with this Computron's voice. As someone who is really, really big on the G1 cartoon it would've been cooler if they got surviving actors to reprise their roles."

The post for Episode 2 seems to have disappeared. Oh well.

When Episode 3 aired:

"Pretty dope, but Optimus has the personality of a horse fly, not digging his voice at all, other than that nice action and animation."

"Its brilliant ut im left wanting to know more. I think after hte eight episodes I think it is. They will see how it goes and maybe make a proper series. thats pure guess work."

Huh, no comments got posted for when Episode 4 aired. Weird.

When episode 5 aired:

"Not bad. Just needs Peter Cullen and Frank Welker."

"I wish these episodes were longer. Maybe it will do like clone wars and get a full treatment after this."

When Episode 6 aired:

"When's the next one ???"

" ;)^ ;)^ ;)^ how long the series going to run ?? It's good"

"Yo go to the go90 site by verizon. They way they are making these is reminiscent of the 80's transformers. Episodes are only 5 minutes long tho. Still good"

"This episode is what #CombinerWars is all about smh #fistpump #excellent all around"

"Not bad gonna be an interesting fight especially if fort max appears"

"I would love to see this as a movie, in theaters, in the next little while....."

"Excelente que bien va está serie"

"It's awesome. I'm anxiously awaiting next episode"

When Episode 7 aired... only two posts were made and neither contained an opinion of any kind.

When Episode 8 aired:

"This was a very well done series. The ending revealing the "Titans Return" launch was surprising. SO WAS MEGATRONS LAST TRANSFORMATION! I DO HOPE THAT THEY MAKE A TOY OF THIS! I want to see Metroplex, and Fortress Maximus, and Trypticon, Omega Supreme, Scorponok, and dare I hope for it...Overlord, in action! I would also like to see....Piranacon, Monstructor, Raiden, Predaking, Defensor, Superion, and Abominus."

"Such a shame they dont broadcast it in uk yet"

"Buuh, only 8 episodes? I want more!"

"It was awesome. I liked every episode ."

"Will there be a Titans Return to on as well?" "I hope so. I want to actually see Metroplex in action" "...and Fort Max"

"Yea it was great IMO left me wanting more , just hope it garnered enough support for HASTAK to develop a full series ."

It's THESE kinds of people who wanted more of this travesty.
