We've already seen a number of the 'Leaked from Cybertron' mini clips, showing a quick carousel of images for figures from the line - usually schematics, prototypes and the final stock image of the toy - including the whole collection of Dinobots from the first waves: Swoop, Snarl, Sludge, Slash (plus Studio Series Blackout and Grimlock).

But today we bring you the core element of new Dinobot combiner Volcanicus, and the figure doing the crunches: Power of the Primes voyager Grimlock! Check out the three rotating images below, and join the discussion in the Energon Pub - have you formed the new gestalt yet? Is there anything else you'd like to see from the line?

Looking at the concept sketches, and the final version, my first thought is, 'What went wrong?' The forelegs and the toe claws looked SO much better in concept. The final version has those dinky little stubs on the toes, and them gargantuan thighs. I know sacrifices had to be made for a gestalt mode, but it still feels like they phoned it in.

will the retailer stores skip waves like they did last year in favor of bayformer toys? because I have never seen wave 2 of the deluxes of transformers power of the prime toys. last year never saw twin twist, overlord, misfire, etc. I barely saw sixshot and trypticon. distribution shouldn't be this bad but unfortunately it is. i'm wondering if i'll ever see either sludge and snarl on the shelves?

If it hasn't already been discussed, Amazon US has a listing up for Counterpunch: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077ZBCPDV?tag=seibertron07-20&
While Amazon Canada has a listing for Repugnus: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0785P78QD?tag=seibertron0b-20&

Found a Hun-Gurr and Elita-1 at the local Wal-Mart. Didn't buy either for now but it's good to see they have indeed appeared at retail.

Yeah, we've debated just what these figures will actually be earlier this year when they were listed on other stores. They're expected to be part of May Mayhem, but Hasbro is being ridiculously silent on that. I'm still hoping Repugnus is a Titan Return mold to go with the other two Monsterbots, but not everyone is convinced.

When does the Mayhem usually start? Been refreshing the listings every day just to see when they go live. I've missed the last couple years and want a jump for this year...

Typically the end of the month, but Hasbro usually announces them in late March/early April so we're a little clueless. I can't remember if we've actually seen proof of May Mayhem happening this year or if we just assumed it is because of all the exclusives being listed around the same time. 2016 was a mess with the bulk of the Grooves coming in October, but 2015 wasn't terribly hard to get in the first week if you shopped around. They're limited and online-only, but they're not exclusive, they're sold at most retailers that sell Transformers.

Retailers did not skip generations toys in favour of movie toys. In fact, every single titans return toy was found in the US, albeit some in very small quantities. However, some movie toys have never ever been found in the US. To this day all US retailers have skipped the final wave of transformers the last night deluxe toys and legion class toys. So it is movie toys that got a bigger shaft than the generations toys.

It's either :

There are bands of scalpers gobbling up all the "we want figs" or Hb did another clusterfrack in distribution!

Or he's just another figure that's not selling as well as his wavemates - those happen all the time (Twinferno is probably a good recent example). I don't think there's really any way Hasbro could've reasonably packed less of him per case than they were already doing, and still actually distributed the toy.

Now as for whether it was a good call putting him in Wave 1 - the wave that almost certainly every store will get in large amounts - that's definitely up for debate, but I don't think this is exactly a distribution disaster on par with TLK or anything like that.

Nope! This happened already when Takara miscalculated the popularity of a figure and over manufactured.

1. 2001/2002 Godginrai gift set.
2. 2005 Starconvoy (though this one would have been remedied if Grandus and Skygarry was also released to complete the Battlestars)
3. TFC Stepper

Gg was one of the popular me want ones for collectors. Same with Starconvoy. Also, Stepper.

So Starscream (Not popular? Really?) Compared to Twinferno, he's not even close to holding Starscream's boot straps! Too bad though (Elita is a better one of the mold though)

Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Munkky, we have additional confirmation of two potential Transformers Power of the Primes exclusives found on online retailer Amazon - one for the Canadian site, one for the US one: Repugnus, and Counterpunch respectively.

The figures have been discussed previously, as Seibertronian Emerje points out below, as they appeared on other retailers as listings, but the Amazon appearance may be giving more of a solid base to the idea of either May Mayhem or San Diego Comic Con (or even New York Comic Con) bringing two new molds to the fray. We have no images or specific descriptions yet either, so stay tuned to find out more!

Y.E.S it's about time these two got new full figure toys! Counterpunch especially Repugnus is Cool but Counterpunch is where it's at man! He better be a new Punch/Counterpunch with two new robot modes with a relatively simple conversion from one to the other

All you need is that TFCC Punch/Counterpunch. That sunstreaker mold pulls it off so well who needs a new figure? Gimmie a repugnus please. And as much as I hate the idea, make him a stinking headmaster to make the trio on the same page.

No, that's all you needed. I've never been all that psyched with that Sunstreaker mold. Sunstreaker, Sideswipe and Redlert could all use a decent new mold IMO. So I'm not about to pay some ridiculous price for a TFCC version or Counterpunch on eBAY. So here's to hopes that this new Counterpunch looks better and cheaper if the rumor is even true.

That Repugnus character has always been Meh to me. So if I do buy a new one it'll only be based off impulse.

I have a suspicion that Counterpunch may be another case of Timelines/Classics Thundercracker. He'll just be TFCC CW Counterpunch with a slightly adjusted deco and maybe new accessory to tie into the PotP line. Of course, I hope I'm wrong and we get something new.

He's been in the Marvel G1 comics, the BotCon Classics comics, Regeneration One, parts of IDW G1, and a few minor things.

In fact, he was the longest-running host of the Marvel UK letters pages, from issues 184 to 299, a whopping 116 issues, with Grimlock being second only to him, having hosted the letters pages from 75 to 182 (108 issues). During his tenure of "Dread Tidings", Dreadwind would refer to humans as "humes", made the first indirect reference in the West to Super-God Masterforce airing in Malaysia, and even starred in his own Christmas text story that was a parody of A Christmas Carol.
they were fun to watch on masterforce
That was Buster, not Dreadwind.

True, but wasn't he referred to as Dreadwind in the Omni Productions English dub?

You mean the dub that no sane person should take at face value? Which also called every human character by the robot names of their Hasbro toy counterparts (e.g. - Ginrai was a human named "Optimus Prime", so Buster was a human named "Dreadwind")? ;)

Ah ha! I see what you did there. ;)
I'm sure Counterpunch will double cross more than your fingers.

I'm hoping Repugnus is a TR mold too. I'd think they would retool the same base mold used for Twinferno and Grotusque. I'd be fine with that.
The only other logicall option I could see is a retool of Ripper Snapper. That would be ok, but I'd prefer the TR option.

I share your preference, but it seems unlikely that he'll be anything but a combiner limb. Hasbro has been very strict about not breaking from play patterns in the Prime Wars Trilogy. The fact that Blastoff is apparently coming with a HFG instead of Prime Armor is already a huge deviation from the norm.

Hey I never said it was good, just referencing it. I mean I don't know what harm it could do? Getting back on topic though, I think it's cool that every PotP Leader Class Figure comes with it's own Power Pack. ;)

Also I need to check the subs on the S!F Masterforce DVD. Not sure if they refer to him as Buster or Dreadwind.

Great, another case of having a ten minute window at a random time to hopefully be able to purchase a highly sought after figure or pay an inflated price on eBay from a scalper! Hopefully, they will be available through Hasbro Toy Shop so we will at least know which day we can make a mad scramble to purchase them.

initially I was torn about what I wanted Repugnus to be, but I'm going to change my attitude to win/win.

If Repugnus is a TR based Deluxe, he will have symmetry with the other two Monsterbots= Win
If Repugnus is a CW/PotP limb, then I'll have an added limb for some combiners that are very much needed= Win

As for Counterpunch. If he's basically the same as the TFSS deco, I already have it, and there's no reason for me to get it. But if its a completely new design, (maybe a repaint of another deluxe Automobile based limb), I may Get it. I have no plans to get Shuttle Blast Off since I already have the UW one, but I wonder why a listing for him has been on Amazon for months, but these two just popped up...??

I keep racking my noodle trying to think who P/CP could be a retool of (sad that I can't fathom him being a new mold, right?), but I just had an idea. Big fat what if, but what if he were a retool of TLK Cogman that came with two "Titan Master" style mini figs that represented his two faces? Then they could both ride in the cabin when in alt mode because he was a two seater.

Just speculation of course, but I could go for that. ;)^

Yeah, I think Amazon is the best bet for everyone. International fans can purchase from there and I cant recall a TF amazon exclusive that sold out within hours and never got back in stock.

What other exclusive has Amazon had? I normally only collect what's at retail but I have dived into ordering online.
The tlk Cogman idea for Punch/Counterpunch sounds like the logical(easy) way for Hasbro to go.

Even if Repugnus is a retool of PotP Rippersnapper, there is a chance he'd still be TR compatible. They could retool the combiner post in the chest to instead be a cockpit for a Titan Master to sit inside. Then just put a little Titan Master head port on what used to be the joint of the post, and voila!

A ton. There was that Optimus Primal YOTM exclusive, the TR exclusive Orion Pax, the movie bumblebee 3 pack, One Shall Stand One Shall Fall set, the triple changer platinum set, and they had the previous may mayhem online exclusives (among other retailers). I and many others got their CW deluxe Groove from there.

He's still coming. We have several exclusives now in the works but not available yet:

Nemesis Prime (amazon)
Wreck-Gar (Walgreens)
shuttle Blastoff (Amazon)
Punch/Counterpunch (Amazon)
Repugnus (amazon)

so lots of potential specials here. Most likely not all May Mayhem, but still coming in some form.

I'm also hopeful for the $80 MPM5 Barricade on Amazon.

I really hope they do Punch/Counterpunch justice. He is a figure I really want to see. The club one was a cool idea but I haven't heard much good about the mold, hence why I am still Sideswipeless and CW Sunstreaker is my Sunstreaker.

Cogman would be awesome, if very out of left field. But still totally down for that

a punch/counterpunch is one of the few besides the club exclusive that hasn't had an official update and would like to see something new come out of it but i have a feeling it will be either a combiner limb or a TR deluxe headmaster mold making use of existing molds like we have had before

We got a repaint of Nitro, so no reason they couldn't work the Cogman mold right into CHUG.
I did the Thunderwing head swap on my Nitro with the Reprolabels set and enjoyed how it came out.
Seems like these 2 were destined to be utilized beyond their original intention.

Two heads would be awesome -- I'd want it to be the Pretender Doubleheader!

Good to know the BB toys wont be another separate line. Also, we both agree Movie toys sold terribly, and were overproduced. The only difference is that there were 3 years between AoE and TLK, and there were only 2 years between the previous films, so obviously there was more spillover. Also I think more affirmative clearance was done by the last 2 movie lines to try to get them out of the stores, but like I said, TLK toys are still around. Also the other movie lines had additional assortments even after the movie was long gone, not so for AoE & TLK, those toys were bad enough, didn't need more of them.

Movie toys definitely sold better than you guys are making it sound.

According to a listing on Chinese online retailer Tmall, there will be a Hasbro Asia box set release of sorts coming for the Transformers Power of the Primes Volcanicus members - meaning that dinobots Grimlock, Slug, Sludge, Swoop, and Snarl will all be collected in one box. Literally.

Going by the imagery in the listing (which prices the set at 1235 Yuan / 193 USD), the figures will be individually packaged and grouped together in a bigger box, sporting some nice Volcanicus art, plus an added notebook featuring the new dinobot combiner and the Power of the Primes logo. Check out the images below, and let us know what you think of this new take on the 'box set' idea in the Energon Pub Discussion Boards!

We know thanks to listings from ACD Distribution that Repugnus and Blast Off won't be exclusive to any one store. They're probably the closest to May Mayhem we're getting in this block of exclusives.

I'm also hoping for the best with Punch/Counterpunch. Heres to having my fingers double-crossed......

He will probably be double crossing my wallet lil.....

Is Blastoff the only one of the Combaticons coming in this line? I have seen or heard nothing about the others myself unless I missed it on the board....

Our luck he's gonna be harder. I got Grotesque from TRU so that's self explanatory

Blast Off is the only one, as he was "the wrong vehicle" back in Combiner Wars, and this is Hasbro's offer to rectify that. The rest of Combaticons will not see a re-release, which is a shame. A perfect opportunity to fix Brawl

The Rook mold (Specifically the Nosecode retool) would have made an awesome Brawl. Would we have cared about the mold reuse though?

Wow. The idea of Doubleheader with two titan masters is a really cool idea.

We still need to see a Doubledealer cranked out for this line, too. My hopes aren't high, though.

Counterpunch would be fine with a cool "new twist" of two titan masters... but I hope they at least find some figure where you can change the look by flipping front to back. After two flawed versions, it would be nice to have one version knocked out of the park.

I think troop builders are the other missed opportunity for titan masters.... like, Wreck Gar could come with two or three heads or they could be included as an on-the-shelf single pack titan master. The could even do a rolling paint or plastic color change through the wave, or some add on weapons or armor that would change the look of the figure enough to display differently on the shelf and encourage multiple purchases.

Takara found a way to let us troop build sweeps, but I wish we could see that stateside to cut down costs. (That's kind of the point with troop building.)
