Thanks to Seibertronian JelZe Goldrabbit, we have news that there is now a Japanese language review for the upcoming Transformers Generations Selects Star Convoy.

This video review covers the new selects toy, which is a retooling of the Power of the Primes Optimus Prime mold. The inner robot mode is now based on his G1 Action Master toy, complete with yellow eyes and all, while the outer robot is a modified version of the original Star Convoy design. The alt mode is identical tooling wise to the original molding. The review also shows a comparison to the Siege Optimus Prime figure.

You can check out the video review below, and stay tuned, as Star Convoy is due out in approximately 1 months time!

And Tentakil sharing the same engineering as Moonracer is freaking amazing. This is some TR A3/Broadside stuff, man. :P

Its also neat because its a fembot mold...and it just so happen Tentakil's retool in BW2 was female.

That Tentakil is just feminine enough to be what I want out of a Tentakil! I look forward to this set!

Redeco, you mean. Scylla wasn't a retool.

Thanks to the TFWiki Twitter page, we have some new official images to share with you for the upcoming Transformers Generations Selects Hot Shot and Cromar!

These new images give us a nice clear look at these 2 new Selects releases. Hot Shot is a new head retool of the Wave 1 Hound figure, and is based on his Cybertron Defense body from Transformers Cybertron. Cromar is a new head retool of the Wave 2 Sixgun figure, and is the final of the 3 Powerdashers to receive official images.

Both of these figures will be available from the Entertainment Earth booth during New York Comic Con this coming weekend, and will presumably go up for sale following the Con as well.

Check out the images below, and let us know what you think of them in the comments section below!

I’m hyped for Cromar. Hot Shot looks oddly appealing too, but the original’s probably better, right?

Right?

Better by far. So is Star Convoy delayed overall or just from BBTS.

IDK, I like the overall design of the original toy for Cybertron Defense Hot Shot, but it was nowhere near as poseable as this new one is. Best of both worlds we'd get an update directly of the original design with modern articulation and engineering, but for now I'll happily take this new one.

And their HasLab Unicron preorder (in one's Order Stack, at least) says that that figure is coming "January 2020", but that ain't right. ;)

Way back when the Seacons were first announced I made up my mind to get them all at once instead of 1 or 2 at a time. I wonder if that was a mistake financially...will the whole set demand a higher price on the aftermarket, or will they be released as a set as well, perhaps as a redeco, like the G2 versions of the other combiners were?

And I would love it if Selects did an actual blue Bluestreak.

Like most Combiners you're probably better off buying ASAP because these aren't likely to become cheaper. It's doubtful that a box set is coming later for this team though I wouldn't rule one out for the potential God Neptune team.

Yeah, but I guess I just personally need at least a certain baseline amount of articulation to get a figure, and the original CD Hot Shot does not do it for me (and I say that as someone who has the figure).

Then I guess you will be ignoring this line altogether since Selects is nothing but redecos and retools, being the spiritual successor to the BotCon/TCC exclusives.

The seacons look nice enough to overcome the fact that "fish with legs" is an inherently dumb alt-mode, but I really hope they're available for normal ordering at some point since I'd like to see a review or two before I pay that much.

I'm hoping TFsource puts up a pre-order for the last 2. I have the previous 4 on pre-order, and I'd like to get all 6 at the same time.

Plus, in my recent experiences, Pulse is a joke. I'd rather not try to deal with it for these

ok so many sites now have preorders for Hotshot and Cromar. BBTS says estimated arrival as Q4 2020...??? So EE has these at the Convention NOW, but BBTS wont have them for another year??? I'm hoping that was a typo. Would be nice to get Lancer and Cromar together in the same shipment in December.

I just placed an order for Lancer from Action Robo, and based on my previous order of Red Wing from them, I should probably have her in about seven or eight days if this order ships as quick as Red Wing did.

It looks like Selects Hot Shot may be an Entertainment Earth exclusive in the US. Hasbro Pulse has put Cromar up and in stock, but no signs of Hot Shot. I pre-ordered both from Entertainment earth just to make sure I wouldn't miss out, but was hoping to cancel and go with Pulse instead if they had both. If I'm going to have to pay for shipping from EE for Hot Shot anyway, I might as well get them both there.

So, since tfsource is the only site to have pre-orders up for the last two seacons, am I right in assuming they're gong for the cash grab with what they assume will be the price, etc., or are they exclusive to them this time 'round?

I'm assuming they are going for the cash. It would make zero sense for Hasbro Pulse to not carry these. I think TFSource just wanted to get the jump on the other sites.

With Transformers Generations Selects WFC-GS004 Powerdasher Cromar being available to order now, he was officially launched in Canada as well, along with Hotshot. Oddly enough, this exclusive looking toy is far from exclusive in Canada. Not only can he be picked up at Toysrus (where I got him) but he is also available at EB Games stores, along with Hotshot. Both are $29.99 CAD but getting him at Toysrus with an R Card means you now have a 90 minute return/price match window if ever they have a sale on Transformers (which they always do). Since I got him today, I thought of doing a quick pictorial review, comparing him to fellow Weaponizer Sixgun.

The only difference is the deco with a new head, which is standard for the Generations Selects line as it is made to replace the Collector's Club which also had similar constraints (leaving new molds for the main line). That head though, is something else. It has a Gobot like aestehtic, looking almost like a clown. You can see a detailed shot below. The paint on that headsculpt is well handled and quite detailed.

He does look plain at first, similar to Sixgun. However, there are some subtle paint apps and there is even some large painted areas, but the result still looks (intentionally?) basic. He has darker paint highlights, which are as subtle in real life as they are on camera. You can find those on the gun tips, feet and on the protruding knee details. His main torso and pelvis pieces are actually fully painted in black over red plastic (due to those parts being on red sprues). So a lot of paint is given there.

I really love the silver paint used for details on the figure against the black. The sculpted details just pop so much more than on Sixgun where those same parts were painted black instead.

As with Sixgun, the legs come off rather easily but he can still hold a pose without a problem. Every other part is solid. Also, yes I did reverse the box in the images for the alternate design.

Smokescreen's red is a bit darker and more muted than I thought it would be. But the paint work looks pretty dang good so far

Messing around with Smokescreen today, and wow he is an improvement on Prowl. The race car aesthetic works so much better for this mold, and the paint work is fantastic.

Also, thinking about it and then looking at the list of Autobots, I've now realized that from the entire 1984-85 Autobot tv show cast, the only bot I do not have a toy of at all is Smoke's moldmate Bluestreak. I have everyone else in some capacity, and while some are purely combiners, I feel like very soon I fill have them as individuals too.

Check out Smoke!
