Nah, not keen on it. Doesn't help when the first photo shows the far superior Leader Class Megatron.

If Hasbro Customer Service hadn't given me a free CW G1 Megatron I would definitely be going after this. Nice rendition of the character.

Yeah, for real.

The only thing these pictures make me want is that barrel part for Leader Megatron. These things look like cheap Easter basket KOs.

While that is true, that does not mean that a person has to like it, or is not allowed to comment on it. It's actually alright to have an opinion on something, even if it's not 'meant for you.' So, get over yourself as well.

It's funny, it's toally okay to be critical and have a negative opinion on Hasbro and Takara because they don't have an automatic response. The second a person does it to another person "RUDE! BULLYING! BULLYING YOURE BEING MEAN TO ME!"

Shut up and play with the toys you have. You don't like it don't buy it. Just shut up and stop acting like it matters. Don't need need to own every toy. Just because your adult that has a children's hobby doesnt mean you gotta act like a child.

Looks like a nice solid figure, poseable and simple, yet satisfying, unlike the bricks from the rid15 line; seriously wish we had gotten these as a 'simple' tf line in lieu of the easy crap bricks :-x

I think he needs to work out more, lose the man-breast-like chest and have a flatter torso like Leader Megs. Was never fond of those TF figures where the front of the vehicle sticks right out the chest area like that (same goes for many Autobot cars)

Huh, cause that's not what I said at all. You're probably right though, there's certainly no place on a discussion board for a person's opinion. I should follow you "adult" lead.

Ok, now THIS is a figure I buy for a kid.
Decent size, articulation, and while simple it's not a one-step and not a gigantic brick. Seriously, as a kid the jump-starters were interesting for about 5 minutes. My g1 Repugnus? Transformed him so many times he fell apart. He wasn't complicated at all, but he looked amazing and had great articulation for a g1 figure. This Megatron is a step in the right direction for the younger crowd
Re: In-Hand Images - Transformers Generations Cyber Series Megatron (1706194)
Posted by primalxconvoy on July 4th, 2015 @ 7:45pm CDT
I really like these. Both these "G1" upscaled legends, and the ones that came out for "TF: Prime" (especially Predaking) show that Hasbro is listening to the fans and customers alike. They are possibly experimenting (hence the limited soft launch in Brazil) with child-friendly, parent-wallet friendly toys that are large, articulated just enough not to be bricks, with a level of detail and design to not insult kids, while presented in an aesthetic that appeals to fans.

If some fans complain, then that's fine, but would those same fans rather the non-G1 aesthetics of the RID Titan "shampoo bottles" or movie "one step backwards" kiddie toys?

As a collector, I can't wait for Takara to do some premium paint jobs on these and I'll buy them all and probably mod them to have better articulation. I mighteven repaint Megatron and mod him into "Reverse Convoy". In that sense, these remind me of Hasbro's "Titan Hulkbuster Iron Man". As a toy, it's a hollow brick, but as a model, it's a custom painter's heaven. It's miles chapter than most official collectors' versions, and fairly easy to paint.

Yes, Megatron is sad, mostly because Grimlock is also reading this and PO'd him off because of his hollowness.

Meg's only have hollow arms. Even Grimmy's hollow parts are not too bad.

Depending on the price, these hollow parts are certainly not a deal breaker.

-Kanrabat- wrote:Meg's only have hollow arms. Even Grimmy's hollow parts are not too bad.

Meg's lower legs are hollow as well, just like CW Hot Spot, DOTM Shockwave, FoC Optimus Prime (And you have to deal with them because it's required for the transformation; same for Cyber Megs), CW Silverbolt, Both PRID Voyagers Predaking (Ok, they can "unhollow the legs" thanks to "parts-filling/covering the hollow parts"), BWII Galvatron (For me, Cyber Megs and BWII Galvs lower legs are "the same", the former just don't have "origamiforming transformation" for them)...

Grimlock's arms needed to be hollow due to the transformation (Just like FoC Grimlock), but then he gained a pretty nice shoulder/transformation joint combo for posability, so it's ok.

-Kanrabat- wrote:Depending on the price, these hollow parts are certainly not a deal breaker.

They cost a little bit cheaper than deluxes here in Brazil... and US$13,90 in Robotkingdom.
So yeah, for me it's "hollow megs and grimmy" for kids over all and every "low-cost TF toys BS" at any time! ;)

Woah, that sure is cheap! Having to import them WOULD be a deal breaker because I'd have to pay double the price just because of the shipping costs. Let's hope Hasbro Wize-up and put that line to mass retail everywhere!

I secound that. And that Hasbro just stop doing all those "few-step unfolders" and "shampoo titans" and "dino jousters" and the like, when they can do this kind of cheap and (believe or not) fun toys! :KREMZEEK:

No! You'll pose him as such
11402864_1422025634789263_7805330209625892013_o.jpg
So that all the "hollowed nightmare" in their bodies can be seen all over the place and make them a complete DEAL BREAKER! Oh yeah, just ignore the "FoC Designs/AoE Colors/RiD15 visuals custom Grimlock" beating the living spark out of a "wrong colored G2 Megatron"...

Not gonna lie, those ones aren't exactly "rivals" for the Generations toys, but for the price, size, customization potential and a TRUE OFFICIAL ALTERNATIVE for cheap transformers that ACTUALLY TRANSFORM and have a basic ammout of joints for nice posability, these two are pure win.

That Megs looks pretty damn cool to me. He would look nice in G2 colors but that silver job does him pretty good justice :BOT:
Re: In-Hand Images - Transformers Generations Cyber Series Megatron (1706951)
Posted by KillerOh on July 7th, 2015 @ 12:10pm CDT
Yeah, sometimes it looks like Hasbro just painted them wrong...ish. :P

I'm not sure if kids would like a "Cyber Battalion G2 Megatron", being "neon-green" and all...
Image
Maybe him being silver works better after all...
Image
But seriously, this Cyber Megs just screams for a "Shoulder cannon", his G2 appearance just screams for it. Hell, the cannon is already a "partsforming process"! But no, we have to drill a hole in his shoulder joint to make it not so visible in both modes... Damnit Hasbro, you could have done that! Look at the lost potential just because of a hole! #-o

Now, a "RiD15-deco" (and, if possible, some retool in the shoulders and T-Rex mode head) for that Grimlock would be way nicier! :KREMZEEK:
...and maybe RiD15 Grimlock would be shelfwarming as well. :michaelbay:

In vehicle mode, Optimus Prime looks like a combination of his Armada and RID (2015) counterparts. But in robot mode, he looks more like his G1 self. I've noticed that recently, Hasbro is taking a lot of inspiration from previous Transformers designs.

Fresh off our look at Optimus Prime yesterday, Seibertronian Autobot Roadburn brings us word that the entire line of Transformers Generations Cyber Battalion toys are in stock for shipping now at site sponsor BigBadToyStore. Regular Cyber Battalion figures are $24.99 each, and the larger Cyber Commander figures are $34.99 each.

Here are links for each figure:

Sheesh...Big Bad Toy Store is really scamming us on the price of these =; =; =; . I cannot pay $34.99 plus shipping for that Prime when Hasbro MSRP is $19.99. I'll wait and see if this fig makes it onto Hasbro site or I'll get it off Ebay later. The fact that the fig has no knee articulation pretty much kills paying a premium for it.

I was only able to order Starscream but it'll have to sit in my POL for a little bit. BBTS probably had to get these through a second party thus why the prices are higher. Right now besides Robot Kingdom, who are almost sold out, they are the only way to get these figures easily.

The big news today was that the elusive Transformers Cyber Series (which are GIANT simpler transforming figures) are now available at a US e-tailer. However, the price of importing them does make them over the Hasbro MSRP so people aren't sure to go all in or not, understandably. So, to help out those on the fence, here is a review of the Optimus Prime (who we also just got some new pics of).

Neonkiwi sent this bot toys video review our way. Enjoy!

It's not scamming, it's supply and demand, it's importing, it's all sorts of factors. You're much more likely to get scammed by getting it "off Ebay later".

"Scamming" was a poor word choice on my part. I know it's supply and demand. I just don't think BBTS should have had to pay a premium and then pass it on to us. I bet they will be pricey on Ebay later unless demand wanes in the future. Maybe we will see these at TJ Maxx down the line.

The transformation of that Cyber Commander Optimus is very similar to the Superme Class Beast Hunters Optimus Prime. Interesting, but only if I could find it live and on sale.

Starscream would be a sure buy, but only if found locally.

So these came in stock at Robot Kingdom earlier this week/late last week (don't remember exactly), and they came in early. Weren't expected until August after being delayed from May. I found that out by cruising through my Twitter feed, where literally tens (ok, probably more like five) of the random Japanese TF fan accounts that I follow, plus their retweets, contained pictures of these in-hand. As these are "GDO" figures, aka probably not intended to ever hit the US, I wondered where they got them from, but immediately checked RK. There they were, except there was only Grimlock (thank goodness!) and the big Bee. Got 'em ordered, and once NYC customs processes it they'll be on their merry way down here to NC.

Then they hit BBTS today. I didn't think anything about it at first. They have a direct Hasbro account and can probably order whatever they want. But then they sold out of some of them really, really quick. Just like RK did.

These can't be in that much of demand, right? If so, Hasbro needs to take note and get their money printers going (aka, these molds) and get them on shelves here pronto. If not, and these are only at this level of popularity due to lack of availability (you know this amplifies demand, it's just how things go and I'm super guilty of this myself so, you know, not knockin' it), then, well, I realized something.

I think BBTS got their stock from RK and is re-selling it at a markup (which, honestly, with international shipping and what they're charging, it'd be a tiny markup, so that's probably the biggest hole in this theory). I ain't mad, and I have no proof of this, but I'm just sayin'.

Doesn't matter really, got 'em all on the way to me and I'm going to have fun, so cheers to that and I'm glad that they weren't a total headache to get!

Since he's grey and a tank I get a bit of a mild WFC/War within vibe from Megatron.

I think Hasbro is being a bit sneaky as most of those have built in repaint potential.

Green or G1 colour Grimlock
Green or Purple Megatron
Perhaps a reverse colour scheme Optimus or Nemesis Prime (and boy would that larger Optimus make one heck of a cool Nemesis Prime)
They might be more tempted to repaint the smaller one as Nemesis Prime and simply reissue the other one with Black legs and some white stripes or something like that.

I think the larger Bumblebee is OK as a stand alone but other wise a little silly The smaller One is Ok - either could be done in black deco.

I think the best looking one is Megatron as he's got reasonable articulation and is just sort of interesting looking.

Starscream isn't to bad but I feel he is lacking because of not having any knees. Lots of repaint potential there obviously.

The smaller Optimus doesn't especially thrill me. I hear the Grimlock has some structural weakness in it that causes it to break unfortunately.

I'd buy the bigger Optimus if I can find one though - I do like that quite a lot.

Crap, for real? Do you know what the issue is? Really don't want to break mine when it comes in.
