I wonder why Mirage has 62 instead of 26 as his number? Bucking any copy right infringement?

I don't get why they made two Combiner Wars Optimus Prime figures. I'm sure people will say $, but it just seems odd to me. I do like this redeco, though. Pretty cool looking.

Pretty much this. Menasor looks great, but he's structurally flawed. And that's a big, floppy shame. I see no reason to get this mold a third time. Not even his sweet headcrest can persuade me.

He's pretty damn cool by himself. He has sharp colors, the vehicle mode is really nice, and there aren't many (if any) small Rodimus figures out there. The only problem is the ax can't be attached to his back in robot mode, unless you mod the figure. A great addition to a Rodimus collection. Then again, I may be a bit biased.ZeroWolf wrote:Poor rodimus, to be comic accurate you don't need to bother with him, and if that's not what you want...well he doesn't seem to add much to the combined mode

Not being able to attach that axe/spoiler thing is just stupid on Hasbro/Takara's behalf. They had all the ingredients and yet they made no apple pie.

Rated X wrote:The molds just dont work for those characters. Prowl looks ok but the other 3 are hideous. The fact that these repaints even appear in a comic to justify their existance is Hasbro really scraping the crud off the bottom of the barrel. I think they should have just stuck to Victorion and the G2 repaints. These lazy repaints are more of an insult to the characters rather than a homage. If they wanted to reissue the characters they should have dusted off the original classics molds and given the US more cartoon accurate decos than the first time around. They could just slap the "Combiner Wars" monkier on the packages like they did with Armada Megatron, Huffer, and other figures shoehorned into the line. That would have been so much better than giving the characters a downgrade.
I only don't like Ironhide. They are only doing these repaints for us older fans. Since these are already made, might as well get more use out of them right?

I'm definitely getting Mirage. I think he looks good, I like the mold and I don't have a Mirage in my collection. Thinking about Sunstreaker, but I'm not a fan of the Breakdown mold. I'm on the fence about Prowl. I already have three of this mold and I like my Prowl to have been drinking red bull.
Posted by Stormtalon on July 17th, 2015 @ 10:26am CDT
Sunstreak = repaint of Breakdown. The best. The foot piece as an engine is a really clever bit.
BC Optimus = Shame they couldn't work in Ultra Magnus as this one. Since we have Ultra Prime, Ultra Magnus would have worked.

You mean Universe Mirage right? The first classics mold to come out? I highly suggest you get that mold instead of this one just to have some variety in your collection, giving Dragstrip and Mirage two distinctive molds as opposed to them just being redecos. Universe Mirage is also an amazing mold by the way.

I agree with the both of you and I thought this toy was a huge missed opportunity on Hasbro's part. Do we really need yet another version of an Optimus Prime toy in this line? It could have easily been an Ultra Magnus toy. I also thought the choices for the limbs were poor. Ironhide could have easily been given First Aid's mold to make it closer to his incarnation from the classics or, better still, he could had been remolded to look like the Bayverse Ironhide with the two cannons - I would have bought that in a heartbeat.
The choice of Sunstreaker is also WTF. I would rather have the deluxe Groove figure from Takara's United Warriors as part of the limb. Heck, it would had been great if we get Groove recolored or redecoed as Wreck-Gar or Highwire - that way, at least North American fans can get their hands on this mold instead of yet another remold of the Dead End/Breakdown buck.
With Breakdown, Dead End, Streetwise, Dustup, Jumpstream, Sunstreaker, and Brake-Neck, sharing more or less the same mold, there was no reason not to use Rook's mold and give it to Ironhide, either, and give the police SUV to Prowl instead of the car buck for the eighth time. Heck, why even make it G1 Prowl? Could have been nice if this was RID Prowl or even Steeljaw.
Mirage is probably the only one that made sense in that group because they haven't reused the Drag Strip mold, so it makes financial sense for Hasbro to have this fig. Personally, I would like to see another new mold (besides Groove), but it's a nice repaint nonetheless.
Having a combiner made from components from across Transformers' history in the past 30 years would had been better than this - I know it's supposed to follow IDW continuity, but it would have been great if they did something different to make this figure less bleh. A RID (2001) combiner consists of Optimus (Hot Spot), Skidz (Mirage), X-Brawn (First Aid), Prowl (Streetwise), and Sideburn (Dead End) would have been awesome as well.

Aha, yes! I own the Dragstrip version of the mold which came out in the universe line, hence my mistake.

I have the hardest time with the hips getting him back into alt mode. I also find that he doesn't make a very good arm.

Interesting observation. The iconic "loner" turning out to be a crucial "team player." Good eye.

Ironhide was right there with him on Magnaboss. Maybe they just make a good team that way.
carytheone wrote:I have the hardest time with the hips getting him back into alt mode. I also find that he doesn't make a very good arm.
I use him as an arm simply because I hate him even more as a leg. I do not like those front flaps being inside out on the leg right there front and center. It doesnt look good. And I must say getting his hips back in alt mode can be very easy. I hate that it can be done since it shows how loose the tabs are, but you just tab his robot legs to eachother (like arm mode) and then lift the outer leg shells to connect them to the car body. They are so loose that you dont have to worry about the legs disconnecting. It's fun to do and works well but it is totally indicative of how loose those outer leg panels are.

The Breakdown/Sunstreaker mold is definitely the worst of the Menasor/Optimus Maximus set.

That's just it, isn't it? They didn't have too; they could have come up with inventive re-uses of micromaster figures that have never seen an update, or other semi-obscure characters, there's hundreds of them, I'm sure. This isn't even a proper throwback because the masquerade team isn't even correct; and please another worthless reuse of the crappy o/p torso
This entire team just screams lazy to me. Now maybe these characters haven't been re-released for a while, and maybe buying them online now is an expensive pain, but these figures really don't do them any justice, and it took away 6 slots from cooler more interesting figures; I bet Sabrblade or Jelze could pound out a team roster based on micromasters in about 10 seconds, and I know it would be more appealing than this team. I will get them, but only because I like the molds, and I need a set of limbs for skyreign; but I will never love them like any of the other teams

Epic I already care more for this set than the '84 teams combined; I particularly like Stakeout's color scheme, blue not seen enough in these combiners, one of the many reasons that I like Offroad so much - that teal
Now, how about some ?
