Hasbro will drop the ball if they don't reveal a set of CW sweeps at Botcon with parts to form Galvatron's cannon. I love the idea of cyclonus hijacking bodies to combine with though.

One of the things I noticed that has made me pass on these Combiner Wars figures is they all seem to have most of there parts on their back, in other words (Back Packs ).
This is a easy way out in design, make most of the parts just flip up on the back like a shell in robot mode. >:oP

I don't like these designs and hope that the Constructicons are not so much this way. That is the set I am after.
To each his own, but my displays must be worthy.

You realise that most of the G1 combiner limbs were the same in regards to having "backpacks".

Blades looks sufficiently different from Alpha Bravo, which is a plus for me.

Were the G1 figures any different? Slide out/flip around legs, pull out arms, flip up the front, and you're done >:oP

Blades look pretty decent, can't wait to get him. Would be perfect if I found and bought him before any other limbs, since he's the very first Combiner limb I ever got.

First of, sorry, I tend to take everyone's opinion on the internet as that of an expert, super balanced person.

But Combiner Wars is by far one of the best Transformers lines ever. G1 characters, better than Cybertron posability yet still very stable solid figures with not to complex transformations.

To even compare this to non-transforming limbs & a "scout" sized team leader is simply :HEADHURTS:

Agreed with the he has to be Overlord but if they call him Overlord the fandom will once again :michaelbay:

Now my opinion, which is awesome, I like Cyclonus! A lot more than the flimsy Takara Henkei one which I ditched. Now he has the bulk he should have, that sniper pose is awesome :)

I am Really liking what Hasbro is doing here. I thought it could not be done, mega (voyager) sized teamleaders with deluxe limbs. But I lost my right to complain about anything Transformers HasTak sends out since Fall of Cybertron/Generations. They already have my full support till 2017 or something.

Great figure, both of them. Easily my favourite design of the line, not so sold on Blades head but i'm not going hardcore G1 on the line

These are not G1 figures (Transformers Generations Combiner Wars) and it's 2015. Is this the best we can do in design? :HEADHURTS:
Hell, G1 figures might have been blocky, but many didn't have back pack style designs. Also they stand the test of time and don't fall apart like the new China reissues of G1 figures or light weight crappy feeling plastic of today. Just saying !

What an odd quote to come from someone called G1collector. At first I was gonna defend the guy and say "come one Jelze, maybe he doesnt know G1", but yeah, cant say that. The traditional place for kibble is the front chest of the robot but since they need that spot to not be an obstacle to the combining gimick, it must be left free. I am just thankful they would a way around making it the heads that connect. That is a huge improvement that means not all heads have to have the same shape anymore.

When it comes to design, sometimes less is more. I actually appreciate the simplicity in design and transformation compared to the unnecessarily complex 3P offerings (I feel sick after saying 3P...). But whatever floats your boat :)

Sure , you can find G1 with some backpack style transformations, but most did not. Megatron, Blaster, Prime,Soudwave, I can't list them all here and everyone knows the deal with Blocky G1 figures.
My point is, this is 2015 and seems that they are just cutting corners big time in design by throwing so much crap on the backs of these bots. I love that they can combine, but it's not easy or cheap to come up with a design that can look good in all 3 modes, right. :BOOM:

I think you're suffering from nostalgia friend. Those guys you mention are great, but also not these characters. These are superior updates to the g1 figures. Honestly, they are. They are fun, simple and pretty posable. The g1 toys only got two of those and they were tiny to boot. You can buy what you want but youre missing out I think.

Reply to Optimizzy:

I agree, they are much, much better then the G1 figures, as I sold off the G1 sets of these guys of them being so poor in (Design) only. I was hopeful for better robot modes, so when I was in the store and see many of these on the pegs with every one having backpack parts, just made me think this way.
I hear what your saying and may give them a shot anyway. Thanks!

Oooh, just as predicted, Hasbro is making the fists/feet different by either mold or color!

I corrected the white balance. The "thumb connector" is white. It is otherwise the same as Alpha Bravo's all-black fist/foot.

While I like Blades' overall paint scheme better than Alpha Bravo's, especially the white stripe along the side to break up the red body, I just cannot get past the rescue markings on the figure and the ugly face (I understand it fits the character and he always had a blue face, but it's just not my cup of tea). Overall, AB wins the mold war so far. Looking forward to seeing what Vortex looks like as Bruticus is the only other combiner I'm planning on getting. I hope Hasbro releases the Combaticons in wave one next year.

First of, sorry, I tend to take everyone's opinion on the internet as that of an expert, super balanced person.

To even compare this to non-transforming limbs & a "scout" sized team leader is simply :HEADHURTS:

Welcome to the world of "opinion".

In my opinion the CW stuff is fun. It hearkens back to G1, which I prefer, and as you point out it has non-complex transforms.

But a lot of the transforms are pretty weak, with tons of bot-kibble in the alt modes, especially arms on the aerialbots. The limb-modes also are pretty kibble laden, with jet and car kibble dangling off the front of the legs and small arms sticking out of the arm-mode bots in many instances.

So, no, I don't agree this is one of the best lines ever.

But, Like I said, it is FUN. The simplified transforms bring back a lot of that G1 feel to Transformers that, frankly, I've missed.

Unlike a lot of closed minded collectors, I gave PCC a chance.
Pretty easy to do when they were on clearance for $7-10 a set, and the thing the lines share is they are both FUN with a combiner gimmick.

Do the PCC limb bots suck? Yes, but the multiple ways you can combine them for different looks for the shelf, is great. The simplified transforms of the torso bots has the same feel as the CW stuff, that you claim is a big plus.

For my combiner teams in my display, I've gone heavily 3P, and comparing the CW stuff to the 3P offerings side by side, down to the quality of the plastic used, the 3P stuff wins hands down. But, 3P combiners are expensive and often fiddly with the transforms, and while in my opinion they look 1000X better on the shelf, they aren't always as fun as the CW stuff.

So I don't know if I'm an expert, and I have no idea how balanced a person can be that is an adult toy collector, but that's where my comparison is coming from.

That works surprisingly well. Who would be the limbs for a Starscream gestalt? Skywarp and Thundercracker for sure, but we need two more. Acid Storm and Sun Storm? It would be odd to use the coneheads, as one of the trio would have to be left out, unless you made that one a target master, but still, that would feel odd having one undersized next to its full-sized "brothers."

The holes on my Dead End's fist/foot seem to be within tolerance; not too tight nor loose.

WOW, talk about putting all the right elements together to create a whole that just looks...off. I mean I like the headsculpt; G2#1 was what made the character for me. But maybe if it had been a bit narrower to make his shoulders look wider, or even if just the nose was thinner, it wouldn't look so odd. I try not to clamor for 3rd party upgrades for every little fix, but I'd buy a new head packaged with his "Get with the program" gun. That's look awesome next to G2 Sideswipe.

And because I'm getting so damn sick of every word acknowledging Alpha Bravo being pre-polarized one way or the other, I'm finally just gonna' say it:

I want, more than anything, so see him f%@# his mom, just like his namesake Johnny Bravo.

Now, any reaction to that sentence is going to paint it as negative, but I'm banking on there being enough Seibertronians with positive views on fictional wincest that it's a genuinely ambiguous statement; those views just won't get expressed on this type of site, understandably. If I can break up the stupid white-noise attached to Alpha Bravo by defender and detractor, it's well worth a warning. I genuinely want to see that happen.

...

...and getting back to Blades, the G2 homage makes his getting a new teammate named Rook a bit more interestin' donnit? Let's just hope Hot Spot doesn't have a secret suicide action feature that's triggered by attaching Viper to him!

Blades face is disturbingly angry looking, but that makes it sooooooo coooooool! He looks agitated and ready to beat that disgusted look right off your face! lol

I still think both Alpha Bravo and Blades make this mold beautiful. I hope this ends up as Vortex, and I agree he needs 4 rotors in that redeco.

On another note. I'm really digging the Protectobots face sculpts. Those who have eyes and mouths look intimidating (Rook, Blades, Streetwise) and those without still look like they'll kick your tailpipe (Hot Spot, First Aid). Then Groove is just there smiling away as the rest of the team reduces you to molten sludge.

P.S. Alpha Bravo Forever! :BOT:

I know how many of you feel... but I will let Grimlock verbalize it.

GRIMLOCK HERE.

BLADES OUT NOW AND YOU NO WANT ALPHA BRAVO NO MORE!

YOU. NO. WANT. HIM.

YOU NO WANT HIM BECAUSE HE LOOK JUST LIKE ALPHA NACHO!

HEH HEH HEH. AND THEY SAY GRIMLOCK NO LOOK BEFORE LEAP.
