It's widely agreed that whoever priced the insecticons was high as a kite. That said, I'll be waiting for them to go on clearance.

Totally with you on that one. Not just that, but you could get the G1 insecticons (second hand without accessories) for at most 20$ each shipped and all. I still find it very expensive at 33% off.

I said I'd BUY them at 33% off because at 50%, the scalpers would be all over that shit and clear out the shelves in 10 seconds flat.

I "might" have been able to justify buying the Insecticons at a high markup if they were like eHobby and recolored to be the Diaclone colors. But just standard reissues of figures that--and let's face it guys--we can find in decent condition for $5 each on ebay? Uh-uh.

As to the funky colors of Laser Prime and Soundwave, they don't feel like they have any connection with the "story" for me. (Plus, I already have the Scourge version and the G2 Ultra Magnus version of that Prime).

Soundwave might be neat for giggles for the odd collection of clear minions... but I'd need a TRU coupon of some sort to bring it down to a reasonable amount.

Those prices, those ugly ass colors man.

The funny thing is I got a GREAT price for MP-03 Grimlock this last year from Canada.

They've got a ton of all that new Platinum stuff at toys r us on Broadway here in Vancouver.

Those prices are ridiculous. These will live on those shelves forever at that price. I'm sure they will never sell and be donated to charity after a year or two of just sitting there.

For these prices, better off importing some premium stuff from Hasbro Asia or Takara.

A more normal North American prices would have been at least 40% less than what is being asked here. Optimus shoudnt be more than 90$. Soundwave should have been at least the same price as the REAL MP Soundwave at 125$. And the Insecticons? 70$ top, like a full priced leader.

Just saw the Insecticons in the Willowbrook Mall TRU in Langley BC, I'm gonna wait to see if these things go on sale before I jump on that.

I just got the old TRU Insecticons from '09 for $45 on eBay. I cut the hands off Shrapnel and put them on Kickback... added a little paint on the chest and wings, stood him next to Skrapnel and CW Bombshell, now I have a complete set of updated Insecticons. I'll buy the Platinum Insecticons as an army builder if they ever drop down to $30. Until then I'm content to army build from GOOD deals on eBay.

I saw those insecticons weeks ago in k-mart and didnt even bother to look at the price. I assumed it was between $50-70. I got the TRU set for around $50 I think a couple years back. Same s**t....who cares about the stupid box ? Also I bought the e-hobby diaclone insecticons for $80 cash at botcon. These price in canada is a joke. Pure comedy. Are they even serious ?

Considering the exchange rate they're only about $7 USD more than what they cost in the US at Kmart. Still not a good price for the set, but not as bad as the $CA price leads you to believe.

Your right, my phrasing was off. I meant that I 40$ is the max I would pay for these toys. The price they will go for has already been said to be around 100$.

Your right, my phrasing was off. I meant that I 40$ is the max I would pay for these toys. The price they will go for has already been said to be around 100$.

100$ is a bit rough. Still, I'm way more tempted by these than the Insecticons. Astrotrain is not too bad and that Blitzwing have some very cool colors. Let's hope Lena deliver!

Does this mean that indeed these are KMart exclusives after all and toysrus wont be carrying them in the states? Wouldnt be the first time products are exclusive in different companies acording to country. The 2 pack of Smash and Change Optimus and Grimlock was a KMart exclusive in the states and a Walmart exclusive in Canada. And Walmart had Platinum Predaking as an exclusive in canada, while I dont think that was the case in the states.

Kind of blows that these insecticons are exclusives to the two companies that charge most for TFs.

My stupid Kmart got like 40 of these, I don't why there just gonna go on clearance being so expensive.

Is it just me or are figure prices going up all around for transformer toys. I mean even getting the Combiner Wars toys, deluxes are $20 a piece now when I recall them ranging from $14-$16 each like a year ago.

A friend of mine recently saw Year of the whatever Soundwave at Toys R' Us here in Canada and it was $220!!! Not on your life for that ugly coloured monstrosity.

Further confirmation of the horribly priced Insecticons. We all knew Kmart overcharged and Toysrus as well. But BBTS? Come on guys, you don't even have a storefront, you don't have to sell at the same price as Kmart (79.99$!$! + shipping).

So it seems that Kmart will be a brick and mortar store with exclusivity to these while they can still be obtained on BBTs, as was always the case with previous platinums.

Sounds fair, and its nice to see passion for the hobby and the outlets that help us enjoy it. All I really meant was that KMART and Toysrus were accused of price gouging with those insecticons and it is now releaved that BBTS charges the same price. We can all take that as we wish.

And also, because I am still a bit sour on the subject, BBTS did price gouge on Windblade. It was not a lot mind you, BUT she was priced higher than her wavemates and they all sold for the same price at brick and mortar retail (as they obviously should), and I did find that to be a d!ck move. Sorry to be bringing up the past, they also did help me too in getting toys I couldnt find anywhere else, at fair prices. But in times where collecting TFs is really big with a bunch of exclusives and fun stuff coming out with little money to go around (add to that a sinking canadian dollar), I am a bit more keen to prices.

I understand your feelings. Look at it this way. In order to fill all of the Windblade orders (she was very popular!) cases had to be broken up. Now, BBTS has to sit on the unwanted stock to sell Windblade. That's extra cost to them. It's all really supply and demand. When there is a high demand for a product, the price naturally goes up.

But, back to the Insecticons, you actually bring up a very good point. I now wonder that the per-unit cost is for the big retailers. Is it possible that Hasbro itself is causing such a high price as the supplier? I don't think Kmart or Toys 'R' Us care enough about the demand for these things to have it impact their pricing. So, now I think it might be further up the supply chain...

Speaking of BBTS, it's been a few orders that heavy custom fees were slapped onto them. Average 30$CAN for each orders, no matter what ammount they are. Add the US-CAN $ conversion, and I don't save anything. I end up paying WAY more than some Asian shops with bigger shipping fees because customs ignore them for some reason.

Unless BBTS have something I REALLY want and I can't get anywhere else, I will avoid it.

I think it's the exchange rate that's changed, not the prices. I'm in the U.S., and I paid $14.99 each for the Combiner War Deluxes at Target. (They're $16.99 at TRU.)

While we have had stock photos covering every mode of the upcoming polarizing Platinum Astrotrain and Blitzwing G1 reissue set, they have all been rather small. Hobby Brinquedos, the same Brazillian online retailer who gave us high quality images of the upcoming Cyber Battalion figures, has put up some very high quality versions of the photos already revealed as well as a brand new stock photo of the Jet and Shuttle mode where the later is shockingly not mistransformed this time.

The other is in robot mode: the tailfin needs to be slid upward just a tad. Then again, the animation model omitted it, having it tucked away in the chest. I'm still at a loss for his colors though.
