Too bad the robot is still a hideous flat insect-ape-piec'a-crap.

I'm buying this version just on that fact alone. Well that and he has hands this time

I like, the jet looks like a jet. Well, accept for his hands sticking out of the rear. Still better than a jet sitting on top of robot parts.

Makes the old one look like piece of crap from like Armada or RID days.

So, when are all these coming out?
may 29th is the date I guess I'll pick him up he's a major improvment but the robot mode could use a little tweaking

Robot mode...oh goodness...How could they have managed to find a way to make him look any worse than he already did? That's the only thing that impresses me really, their abilty to continually top themselves in terms of crappiness with this character...
Well...at least it makes sense that his jet-mode shoots missles out of it's ass.......Oh wait, no it doesn't....

STUPENDOUSLY AWESOME jet mode. The molding of a "jet" looks great.
The paint apps are to die for. The engine area, though a little cluttered, still lokks GREAT.
But then it transforms into... whatever that's supposed to be. Oh. A robot.
<__<
Won't buy it, because the robot really is that very ugly.
I like the jet mode very much, but... ...I'd still KNOW he transforms.

I bloody well hope so this mold is awesome and will look amazing in the original G1 colour schemes ala TC and SW!

On this one both are excellent! The hands sticking out aren't great, but for the reste, the alt mode is sleek and beautiful. And sure, SS's robot mode isn't good looking as such, but in this mold it's almost exactly how SS looks in the movie. This Starscream is a 9.5 out of 10 in my book!

The transformation is awesome, the detailing is exquisite and the whole thing just looks so great! So accurate this time around, I'm amazed - the designers are doing a brilliant job on the movie characters this time around! He looks to be really poseable too, which is great!
My only complaint is that's he's too small. I would have loved for this mold to be in the Leader-class size.

Don't count it out just yet. I'm expecting Leader class figures for Prime (obviously) Starscream and The Fallen. Only time and maybe the NYCC will be able to tell us.

Here:
I think its a good improvement form the last one. No to say the last one didn;t actually grow on me. He still has some flaws, but far far less than the other one.
Pros:
He's got hands, yes freaking hands.
Very cool Transformation. The entire thing just breaks in half and swivels around and pegs together. Its a very cool piece of toy engineering.
Plane mode actually looks very nice, no legs or bulky under carriage.
Loving the Landing Gear.
The Mech Alive gimmick on the chest is very cool.
Head looks really menacing.
Cons:
Legs look scrawny.
Don't really like the tribal markings on him.
And again with the light tan color. Really why can't they make it nice and silver from the get go.
Overall he looks quite nice. But I think I'll wait for the inevitable repaint into Thundercracker or something. But I got to give it to Hasbro's designers they did a outstanding job of improving what was a below average mold. And comming up with this new transformaton scheme, while retaining he overall look of the character.
Very nice.

typh0id wrote:Watched Peaugh's review...STILL think it looks craptacular and I'm actually blown away at how many people thinks this garbage looks good...The only thing I can say for it is that is has a pretty cool transformation...But it transforms from a horrid looking jet (that for some reason has giant hands sticking out of the back) into an even more horrid looking robot...
I have tried, but I don't think I'm ever going to understand it.
The people liking the robot modes of Starscream, that new Constructicon, the new Jetfire (UUUGH), the Fallen or most of these movie characters... mindblowing. Truly.
What are they seeing that I'm not?
What are they not seeing that I am?
Everyone has different tastes, sure, but it bugs me when I can't look at someone with a differing view and go, "Ok, I kinda' see it. They like THIS because of THIS."
I can't do that here... and that's frustrating. If something's not pretty, or functionally credible or full of character... what is the draw?
Confusing... I see a toy and I go, "What would have to be changed to make this toy cooler? What points about this figure could be changed to make it worse?"
It's like, after years of toy buying, I have things set in my head, things by which I can say a toy is "bad". Plastic quality, joint quality, balance, coloring, whether or not the robot would function right in real life (like The Fallen's limb armor banging onto each other)... and I don't think other people do that.

Thx for the links . I still dont care much for the robotmode, but I have to say that its a HUGE improvement over the first one. The plane mode looks so much better and the fact that he now has hands is great. I will buy him.

I hate to tell you (it sucked when I made the discovery) but you're getting older! Sorry to screw up your whole day.
The older we get and the more our minds fill up with "conventional wisdom", which is a load of crap and societys greatest lie, the more we forget how to look at things through the childs eyes of discovery and wonder. It gets replaced with analytical thinking, conventional standards and preconcieved notions of how things should be instead of the fanciful "what if..." approach that should be driving the human spirit. Even knowing and embracing this, I still could not bring myself to find enough qualities about this toy to warrant adding it to my "Must Have" list, although I did find that the one thing I did like about it was the feature that many others did not, and that was the Cybertronian designs on his paint scheme. Everything I disliked was looked at through more "scientific" eyes. The rear facing missles, the overall torso design, the blocky leg design and upper to lower body proportions are all just not appealing to me no matter how much I try to stay open minded. If I did get this figure, it would never see its robot mode, the missles would never get loaded and it would have to be displayed low so I could enjoy the paint apps. The logical choice for me is to let somone with fewer "conditions of ownership" enjoy the toy I would have purchased while I move on to the next thing.
