These photos/review give us a good look at what to expect from Bumblebee's robot mode in the film. It still keeps a lot of the traditional Bayverse Bee designs, such as the layers of metal, the blaster and the face, while also being smoother in certain areas. You'll let us know what you think!

The flip-out Plasma cannon in particular is really neat!

The alt mode is nice but the robot mode is ugly, with that huge backpack and the doors standing stiff backward.
It's clear that this is a kids oriented line, but it's a bit too plain even for kids (and actually, I think in the hands of a kid those doors will surely break in that position)

Looking at the transformation, it looks too complicated for kids as well. That bit about unpegging the lower half and replugging it in a tiny tab within the shell looks far too minutia a step for a kid who'd be fine with a toy of this limited articulation. The Primal is the better of these toys with the complexity being well in tune with the look and simplicity of the toy for an overal fun exprience.

It is neat. They had it in that AOE/TLK deluxe Bee and now even the younger kids can enjoy that.

When I was a child, I had G1 toys, which is why I'm still a huge fan. If these were the toys I had back then, I don't think I'd be a fan now.

SpaceEagle wrote:It's way too silly of me to even think this would happen but is it wrong that i was honestly hoping that they'd change 'Bee's face? It's not the worst of the Bayverse noggins but I was really hoping we'd have something more akin to G1 BB. (Not because I'm a Geewunner, I do genuinely like a lot of the Bayverse designs but BB's face never really appealed to me.)
I hated the Bayverse' BB face. Too skeletal. However I did like the versions that he had the faceplate on. I didn't find the change they did to BB's face in his own movie, but it looked much better and I at least am not hating it.

No, my toys did not "has" better articulation, but they did HAVE better quality, better designs, better transformations, etc. (of course, this is all imo) That thing in the picture looks like the kiddie toys from McDonald'swilliam-james88 wrote:transformers_va wrote:Good grief! I will say that the original figures had a certain "quality" to them the today's toys do not, back then they felt almost real due to the metal parts etc. creating sharp lines and detail. While today most of them come off looing cheaply made. That said, I really like how the articulation has evolved beyond them looking like a stilt statue as well as the how much the detail has improved with head sculpts.
So this is why I'm often conflicted on whether to buy the new stuff or not, it almost feels like a trade off in quality over function. Yet I still wouldn't prefer OG G1 figures over what's being made today.

Transformations improved as well and today's toys no longer have partsforming fists. Plus they look closer to the show and have better proportions. And people like to bring up the metal component, which I admit is cool and invokes some type of quality, but it wasn't present throughout most of G1, just the beginning. Honestly, if G1 toys like Optimus and Starscream which had a kid needing to keep their hands stored somewhere have become so beloved and inspired fans to collect for life, then so can these ROTB toys aimed at younger kids.

He's more complex. The sad truth is that if Hasbro released figures today that had the same articulation, complexity, proportions and as screen innacurate as G1 figures but for a new show, most collectors would complain, call foul, and say that these look like Happy Meal toys.

It does show what we were expecting, these toys will just show up on shelves without announcement, unless Hasbro announces them soon.

Below are the toys that have been confirmed by distributors to be on US shores, awaiting distribution to stores. There is a good chance that these will not be announced formally before appearing on shelves, we'll see. All of them are of the gimmick variety and while they were all meant to be part of the movie's main toyline, some (if not all) will be rebranded with Cyberverse packaging. However, this is indeed big news as it means that the Rise of the Beasts toys will still be coming out this year, as was initially planned. That could not be postponed. Below are the new toys aimed at younger fans that will be appearing on your shelves in the coming months:
Power Alliance (Weaponizers)

The real tragedy is the toylike and movie release not coinciding. Hopefully the disjunction doesn’t affect sales for future films/projects.

Stormshot_Prime wrote:I’m almost okay with this? As long as we get proper character rep in Studio Series, I don’t see this as detrimental to the line. There’s a lot of appeal in some of the “younger audience” toys, esp as desk toys, the likes.

I think they will rerelease the kid gimmick toys in 2023. Movie films usually have continuous stocking for 2 years (well, 2 holiday seasons)

I think it was ingenious myself, they were faced with a unique problem and came up with a cost effective solution that still allowed them to get the toys out there to market.

Yeah and without looking like complete fools, promoting a film that doesn't exist yet.

I had no interest in the film or the toys except for maybe Scourge, but maybe we'll get some better engineered versions in Studio Series down the line? After they finally do the rest of the movie Dinobots!

Hasbro said we'll be getting releases of the ROTB characters in studio series in 2023, so for sure it will be before the remaining Bayverse Dinos.

It's just the Rise of the Beasts toys in Cyberverse packaging. An easy solution when you have toys ready now but no movie for another year.

And we now know Scourge is also getting another toy in the line in the Battle Changers class. We get this question often, so here is the answer again: the ROTB movie toys we'd expect in a Studio Series line are not coming out this year and we currently have no listings regarding them, the toys coming out this year are all for a younger audience.
Smash Changers – $31.49 each
Smash Changer Optimus Prime (F4642)
Smash Changer Rhinox (F4643)
Smash Changer Optimus Primal (F464)
Battle Changers/Battle Chargers – $10.99 each
Battle Changer Bumblebee (F4607)
Battle Charger Rhinox (F4606)
Battle Charger Mirage (F4609)
Battle Changer Scourge (F4610)
We thank Silver Optimus over at TFW2005 for the info.

I'll admit, I don't know if this is awesome despite being ridiculous, or awesome because it's ridiculous.
Also, could anyone else see this as a new way to adapt the Head/Titanmasters asibe from actual figures? Because I'd pay for an Optimus Prime mask that turned into Hi-Q or Ginrai.
On another note, they seem to be using the "modernized" Maximal Insignia that kept showing up in the packages of Kingdom but none of the toys. Pity, I kinda preferred the old one.
