So this combined with the already-released E-Constructicon set and the rumoured E-Aerialbot repaint set - I guess that covers all three combiner teams released during Energon. For once I don't mind the repaints, they were all solid toys to begin with.
(Please don't be a Target-exclusive!)

Skowl wrote:I'm definately picking up a set as well - I never got to complete my original Energon Bruticus because of the rarity of the final limbs (especially in Canada). I absolutely loved the Energon Combaticons figures, and the head sculpt for Bruticus Maximus is one of my all-time favourites - the new colours look sharp as well, a definite buy for me!

If it is, then one ofus can mail ya one.
I like the colors on it, But I don't get Combaticons. Onslaught is pretty dang good, but otherweise I like the Es closer. I'll await a full picture though, and to see them in person

Seems to be a positive response. 9/10 (only because the limbs don't entirely coordinate.)

And Blast Off should not be a tank.

This would look better if not for the blue helicopter which is out of place with the rest.

Q. F. T.
Just because THEY say a copter is Swindle and a tank is Blast-Off, doesn't mean you can't swap the names for your personal reference.

What I don't care for, personally, is their continued usage of transparent plastic for the 'extremities' of the combiner. Why not use gray or silver? Why do we continually need glowing red-orange weapons attached to our military vehicles? Bruticus would look a lot more menacing with black or steel gray hands and feet, than transparent red-orange.

It's all part of Hasbro's secret plan to create a time paradox in your collection which will then form a black hole that will wipe you and your collection off the planet.

It would be 3 counting the Legends figure.

The fact that Energon combiners reuse the limb molds like this really irks me, it's just cheap.
Then there's the fact he has no hands or feet(which the G1 had).
I'll pass, easily.
Posted by waaaaghlord on October 18th, 2008 @ 4:58am CDT
Blast off should have been the jet from the Aerialbot set and for Swindle a retooling of the dune buggy from Cybertron (Hardtop?) would have worked well (transformation is the same as one of the Constructicon limbs).

But I'll pick this up. I'm a sucker for Energon moulds. If only the show was as good as the toys. (Huh?)

emeraldbeacon wrote:I can live with Swindle as a Heli, and Blast Off as a tank... Swindle was always more about his personality than his alt-mode. I have no problem with a subtle switch of forms. Blast-Off does imply a spacecraft of sorts, but I can see the idea of "blast" tying in to a tank's cannon.
Not to be argumentative, being it does all bome back to what the individual fan can live with , however I would say a phrase like "Blast off!", something associated instantly with rockets & space shuttles for decades, is indeed a stretch to nameslap onto a tank figure just because of the word 'blast'. As for Swindle, has he ever been anything other than a jeep/military jeep/jeep-like vehicle until now? Just asking/saying. As others pointed out, renaming is always an option.

This. I'm not a fan of the Energon combiners at all, but even when I try to find winning qualities, this always comes back to me.

mm, no not really..
i don't mind repaints, i just find it weird that there are 2 onslaughts in Universe/classics. yeah there are two primes and megs as well. but i'm desensitized to those guys getting multiple figures. guess this comes from me liking the new mold onslaught better. maybe if it was designed as a combiner in that mold instead of repainting the energon mold then i wouldn't mind it so much.

I'll keep an eye out for availability and price, I might purchase this if I can. Though I do wish the red bits were solid. Clear looks goofy.

Where is an original version of Bruticus?
Does that make too much sense? Or am I missing something?

But I'm out of the loop with the Energon line... Is this that great of a figure?
Cause from what I can see, it's weak.

Zeds wrote:Don't see why they just did not use the G1 moulds like they did in RID for this release. Why use the Energon moulds when you have the original so readily available and which was clearly a winner!
'Cos there just haven't been enough reissues of that.

Can't have enough of a recognized winner. Can't say the same for the Energon version IMHO and based on some of the posts on this thread.
