We wanted to share these images with you just in case it was indeed the first look at a new Transformers Clampdown toy. It uses the Red Alert head, which makes sense since Clampdown has been more of a Red Alert redeco in the past. This image has been found on a few servers and discussion boards with no clear origin. We know Clampdown is part of the Walmart exclusive Velocitron line as we already have listings for him.
Also, for those curious, here is the entire Velocitron line and case assortment:
Velocitron
Deluxe:
Tra Gen velocitron Burnout x2
Tra Gen velocitron Road Rocket x2
Tra Gen velocitron Blurr x2
Tra Gen velocitron Clampdown x1
Tra Gen velocitron Cosmos x1
Voyager:
Tra Gen Velocitron Override x2
Tra Gen Velocitron Road Hauler x1
Leader:
Tra Gen Velocitron Black Convoy x2

Clampdown's been in the leaked listings for this subline ever since Page 1. We knew he was coming.First-Aid wrote:Talk about timing...based on the conversation leading up to this reveal, it kind of just reinforces the lack of imagination anymore. I literally facepalmed when I saw these pictures.
And it's not like he's some big name, either. He's an obscure, Diaclone-colored E-HOBBY character from 2003.

o.supreme wrote:Thanks for at least getting the title correct. TFW had correct pics and details, but the article Title refers to "Countdown", not Clampdown. I mean I know we got the character with Siege Omega Supreme, but I had false hope for a second, for a full on Micromaster Base...oh well
They don't have the correct details. They state it's Legacy, or ask if it is, but they somehow forgot the news story they themselves wrote first, which revealed case descriptions of Clampdown in the Velocitron line. So now people on their boards are confused if it's Legacy, Selects or something else.

Why did you facepalm? We knew this toy was coming. As is Hauler. Easy but niche redecos.

I'll paraphrase the one show with that one guy..."I drink and I forget things."
Actually, I'm just effing old and forget things.

HAHAHAHA. But seriously, if the Transformers news site that first broke the news about Clampdown forgot he was coming, then anyone can.

I actually skipped that version, the orange/yellow doesn't grab me.

We got Cybertron mode Red Alert. similar color scheme, but no Clampdown.
We also got the also similarly looking Cordon from Sunstreaker
There seems to be an inexhaustible amount of white, black and red rescue Lambos in Transformers history.
Wait until they give us R.I.D. Prowl out of Sunstreaker.

Alt mode looks great, robot mode looks...unfinished? Where'd all that off-white/grey come from? That might have taken me from a maybe to a hard pass, honestly, assuming this is indicative of the final product.

I hope my Walmart will deliver, or at least, Walmart.ca. As far as getting new stuff go, they are pretty unreliable.

I wish I knew back during Siege that we were going to be getting Tigertrack, Deep Cover and Clamp Down otherwise I wouldn't have bothered customizing them myself back when those Siege molds were so damn cheap to get. I literally have about double to triple of this mold than what most people have. I guess I should be glad I skipped the Netflix versions of Sideswipe and Red Alert. At least I have plenty of extra weapons to go around now.
I guess I'll figure out something to do with all the extras. I turned one into Scamper already and I think I'll keep my Siege RED Alert as I parts swapped a bunch of red onto him from G2 Sideswipe when making Deep Cover. This is including the windshield where I painted white over the black after stripping it off. I'm trying to strip the paint off of a blue Deep Cover to make a grey Lambo for some reason. It's been taken apart and soaking in Totally Awesome for months now. It's supposed to be able to strip paint without damaging the plastic. He's still blue lol. The paint is soft enough to scratch off with my nails though, I was just hoping it would come off on its own like the Youtube videos I watched about this stuff stripping paint off of plastic. I guess the factory paint Hasbro uses is quite a bit stronger than what the videos were testing. I just need to find the willpower to do it. I have the time, just not the will at the moment. And I think I need a good scrub brush too.

He’s another one that if I can get on a sale/discount, I’ll consider.
As of right now, he’s in the bottom half of my “maybe” list.

That's probably nothing more than to make him more distinct from Red Alert: originally Red Alert was nothing more than a resticker of the Diaclone Lamborghini Police Type figure (or Clamp Down), no color changes whatsoever:

Except for all of the parts that were painted black on the original figure, and painted red (in different areas) on the new figure?

Ok...no plastic color changes, which makes Red Alert a literal repaint

She still has visibly hollow arms, doesn't seem all that complex, and we haven't seen any signs of extra accessories. So what exactly are we paying extra for that makes her more worthy of being a Voyager on her own than Hot Rod?

Maybe you could wait for the actual reveal before playing seat toy designer with only going off leaked photos and reviews from people who buy stolen toys from warehouses.

I don't watch reviews. I'm going off a box that doesn't show any signs of extras and credible leaks that haven't mentioned them either.

just annoyed that Cosmos will be 1 per box...

Judging from the box art for Hauler and Override it's actually a foot race.

I tend to agree. Unless there's something else in the box that we cannot see and has not been shown anywhere yet (unlikely) to push her into Voyager class territory, it seems Hasbro is playing fast and loose with the definition of a Voyager now.
There's nowhere near the level of engineering Hot Rod had here. Granted the car mode is a bit bigger than Hot Rod's, and the robot mode ends up just a tiny bit taller than Hot Rod, but it still seems a bit off to price her as a Voyager.
Don't think her gun / spoiler is enough to bump her up a price class.

I was thinking that too, but I think HasTak probably had flashbacks of all the Mudflaps from Transformers past shelfwarming like crazy...although I don't know if a fourth reuse of this mold will be any better.
(Crash recovery does make sense for his inclusion here at least!)

You know, I appreciate having a different expression and all, but I don't love it when he's gonna be the only guy in the group just screaming his head off while the other just stand there stoically.

We don't have to speculate, it was in the Wreckers: Tread and Circuits miniseries. Take a look, it's in a book!
Posted by william-james88 on May 30th, 2022 @ 10:08am CDT
On the shelf, in alt mode, the voyager designation will make sense from a visual stand point (next to hauler, leader black convoy and the smaller alt mode deluxes), but it's pretty skeevy.
Now I wanted to talk about something else. I see A LOT of fans saying that Hasbro is releasing this deco now and will probably release the Scourge deco later, in a smart but rather greedy move.
But honestly, I think once again, fans are giving Hasbro corporate too much credit and just don't get it. As Sabr said, I think that Hasbro corporate is releasing this as Scourge. This is their interpretation of Scourge. We now have a better understanding than ever before of what goes on. Cheetor's very light blue, Hot Rod's red, and now this. These are all corporate decisions based on whatever they think which is basically the history of recent sales leading to easily IDing toys on shelves.
So, according to Hasbro, this is Scourge/Black Convoy, as we see from the faction symbols. The deco is wrong and we aren't getting a more accurate Scourge deco from them.
