While there were some issues with panel fitting on my copy, overall, Ironhide is a decent figure that complements the other G1 Core Class figures.

All I do know is that's been a drought lately for anything I'm after, was able to score Ironhide from ebay for a reasonable price since it doesn't seem as if he'd ever make it to retail around here. And that has been pretty much it for several months. Well, other than scoring Legacy Dragstrip on sale at EE last week.
Oh and getting the Jetfire reissue last month!
And while I don't intend to get any ROTB product I am slightly intrigued by the Van and Porsche bots, but I haven't even seen hide nor hair of them anywhere and i though this movie opens in June?

Core 86 Ironhide, Deluxe WFC Bee & Barricade, Voyager WFC Optimus, & Leader 86 Snarl is Wave 2, the current wave. Then according to the store listings:Till-all-R1 wrote:Yes, but when? I don't even know what the current wave is. lol
-Wave 3 is Core DotM Bee, Deluxe WFC Cliffjumper, Deluxe 86 Brawn, Voyager RotB Rhinox, and Voyager WFC Megatron, which should be revealed & put up for preorder within the month considering the pipeline reveals from last month, those recent leaks of Megs & Rhinox in-package, and the Entertainment Earth drop zone teasing WFC figures going up for order Tuesday of next week.
-Wave 4 is I believe Core 86 Frenzy, some currently codenamed/unknown Core RotB characters (unless those got silently scrapped/shifted), Deluxe RotB Mirage (who we saw a render for from a Porsche event I think?), Wheeljack, & Nightbird, Voyager 86 Ratchet, and Leader RotB Primal.

Thanks for this info…
I felt I had been keeping an eye out, & I never saw this release schedule.
I am really excited and anxious to see SS86 Brawn.
And it’s nice to know SS86 Ratchet and Bombshell will be highlights to round out this year of collecting for me.

Not that long, wave 4 is typically the December wave and we're almost half way through 2023 already.
Rumor is that Buzzworthy Hound got pushed to next year so they could focus on ROTB exclusives this year.

What do we think, Commander Magnus in 2023, Commander Optimus Prime in 2024 for the 40th (take a deep breath), and finally Commander Power Master Optimus Prime in 2025? Plenty of room for repaints along the way too.

Commander Optimus for 2024 is a distinct possibility, especially considering that Hasbro already confirmed that the next HasLab for the 40th anniversary will not be an Optimus, gun Megatron, or another Victory character.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:Realized while out of the house that I forgot the most important one for this thread in my release schedule reminder: based off last time we heard anything about him from JTPrime/anyone credible, SS86 Commander Ultra Magnus is slotted for an October release, so he'll probably be revealed alongside Wave 4 assuming nothing has changed.

Well Powermaster OP wouldn't exactly fit in SS86, so he'd have to be the Commander release for whatever-line-follows-Legacy (and I would hate to see effectively 3 straight years of Commander Optimus's across Generations lines), but I would be absolutely shocked if an SS86 Commander Optimus DOESN'T happen next year, it seems like the lowest-hanging fruit possible.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:Realized while out of the house that I forgot the most important one for this thread in my release schedule reminder: based off last time we heard anything about him from JTPrime/anyone credible, SS86 Commander Ultra Magnus is slotted for an October release, so he'll probably be revealed alongside Wave 4 assuming nothing has changed.

I wonder how any version of Megatron could be a Commander?
A "G1" gun Megatron with silencer and stock would be a leader at the very most.

RID Megatron maybe, just due to sheer number of modes (and the parts/engineering required)?-Kanrabat- wrote:I wonder how any version of Megatron could be a Commander?

(Because I suppose even buying 1-3 figures per year would still be collecting).
But assuming they stick to characters who had at least 2-3 seconds of screen time in the film,
how much longer can this subline continue??
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if ‘24 is the last year.
Between a CC Prime, Swoop, hopefully a new Soundwave, a new Sunstreaker, and maybe 1 other, that could be enough to cover SS86’s share of the SS releases for the year.
Posted by Till-all-R1 on May 16th, 2023 @ 10:51am CDT
I forget who all actually appeared in the 86 movie that were only briefly seen or killed off but I believe it has sufficiently been covered. And frankly with PFP I have no desire for the SS86 packaging anymore since you can no longer see the Bot inside, so might as well end it and just put those remaining G1 characters in the main line.
All that aside, I still do want a better Astrotrain at some point soon. Whatever the line is being called at the time of release.

Since SS86 is going to be over before we know it I'm guessing they'll do more stuff from TV that hasn't been well handled by Hasbro (SS Japan?) and more game stuff. I think the SSGE WFC stuff is just setting a standard before they go full on into figures for the new Reactivate game.

According to Evan, it's not even close to over for SS86 as he says EVERY CHARACTER in the movie is "on the table"(assist from DMac). I know that sounds...ambitious, but it does seem to indicate there's no end in sight to this part of Studio Series.

That would mean redoing a whole lot of figures already done really well in WFC and Legacy. Do we really need another Cyclonus? Glavatron? All the Seekers? Insecticons? I have a lot of doubts.

As a reminder (because I guess that's just what I do in this thread these days), we've got like a wave and a half's-worth of 2024 SS listings, so we know that Leader Swoop and another Wreck-Gar retool are on the docket, plus the potentially-mislabeled listings of "MV6"/Bumblebee Core Rumble, Deluxe Sunstreaker, and Leader Megatron (and possibly Voyager Shockwave, but I think that one is actually correct since Shockwave was actually in that film).Sowndwave76 wrote:Between a CC Prime, Swoop, hopefully a new Soundwave, a new Sunstreaker, and maybe 1 other, that could be enough to cover SS86’s share of the SS releases for the year.
Now as for what a second 86 Rumble would actually mean when we already have the 86 Frenzy listing for this year, beats me.
I mean, I'm not confident on it, he's just the only one I could think of that could hit the right combination of size + complexity/parts count. I haven't seen much RiD, but I'm pretty sure from what I remember that Megs was taller than Scourge (who we have currently at Voyager-ish height) and around the same size as Optimus in his armored/combined modes or just slightly shorter, and that Optimus would almost certainly be a Commander release himself at this point, so I'm thinking that height plus the engineering and parts count to hit anywhere between 6-10 alt modes could get it up there.-Kanrabat- wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:RID Megatron maybe, just due to sheer number of modes (and the parts/engineering required)?-Kanrabat- wrote:I wonder how any version of Megatron could be a Commander?

No, we don't need redoes of everybody. I'm not even saying I believe it will happen, much less that I agree with it. But that was the sentiment expressed explicitly in the livestream. I mean, if we get Sunstreaker, I'd call it good if you want my personal wish list.

Well this one should be in the "figures-Hasbro-will-never-make" thread, but if we got a leader class Silverbolt with 4 voyager Aerialbots, I would most likely cream my pants. But going by Legacy Menasor, it's very doubtful, even if adding up the prices for all 5 Stunticons equals to a Titan price.Till-all-R1 wrote:I'd also consider a Titan Superion.

I like their optimism and and all, but as has been voiced most of those have already been done. And done quite well. Like I said earlier there's really only a few left that haven't been made yet and mainly ones like VW Bee that could use a reissue. The only one that comes to mind are Kranix, a very obscure character who lasts only minutes. Would they even bother?
Sure they could possibly justify keeping the subline around simply for reissues of either HTF figures or just to get them back out again for new fans like that have done for decades. Reissues are a constant regardless if we feel they should be released again or not. While some releases might even seem unrelated to the subline itself being named "86", it could be an avenue for any character loosely associated/connected with G1 era. Such as a Target Thrust reissue which may still be on some people's want list, as well as Prowl from the Autobot Alliance 2-pk. So there are things they can do to to warrant not ending the subline, but as far as unmade characters from the actual movie. IDK how far that could possibly go unless it's one character per year.

As long as it's a possibility, there's nothing wrong with expecting it to happen.Sabrblade wrote:When they said "every character" is "on the table", that isn't the same thing as saying every character is getting made (or remade). That just means every character who appeared in the movie has the available option to get a SS86 release. But not every option is going to happen. They even asked if, say, a Studio Series 86 Grapple could happen, despite the previous release of Earthrise Grapple. The answer was that they could do it, but it read as if the implication was "if they wanted to do it".
IMO if they do decide to include already released characters, they could just do what they did with Blaster, and release the same figure in the newer packaging, in this case SS86. Unless of course there's a significant change in the mold for some reason.

I can’t really even think what changes/improvements would have to be made for me to buy all 6 seekers again…. Same with the Insecticons, especially considering imo these Legacy versions are really, really good.
I didn’t mention it in my last post because I’ve said it a long while back, but for me, I’m hoping for a new
Soundwave
Astrotrain
Shockwave
As someone mentioned, a legit, non-exclusive release of VW Bee is due as well.
Between those 4, I guess SS86 could maybe spill into 2025.
I’m really glad to hear that Sunstreaker is happening— I searched for that figure and never found him.
And if we’re not going to get an Astrotrain, I’ll definitely take Shockwave.
Along those same lines, a new Astrotrain may warrant being leader class, so if he’s not on the books, I’d take a new Soundwave with Ratbat and Buzzsaw as a leader class release.
Shockwave should be a voyager.
I have always thought Springer would get a SS86 release, even if it’s basically unchanged from the Seige version.
But other than milking more Junkions, I don’t see how they keep this subline going much past 2024.
Now way past next year, I could see a SS subline, possibly reclaiming the name of “Classics” that brings back G1 characters in screen-accurate versions.
I just don’t see Hastak completely moving away from G1 characters.
This could also be where/when they revisit the combiners.
But I’m talking 2027 or later, to where the last round of mainline combiners will be well over 10-12 years old (obvsly not including Legacy Menasor).

Not gonna lie, Chuck I figured you were way younger than me.
Not in a bad way, but doesn’t seem right there’s only 3 years between us.
Also, wanted to share my initial thoughts on Brawn…
Overall I think he looks good, or at least good enough.
What I find is off about him:
Even if he’s only as tall as Huffer, his proportions look off.
His head should have been larger relative to his limbs and torso…
When you look at his character model, his proportions are of an older kid;
Someone who’s body hasn’t caught up to the size of their head.
The other issue for me is I wish they could’ve managed to get his feet closer to the animated version…
This figure has extremely flat feet, where as the illustrated cartoon had almost “boot” or “high top” shaped feet that almost seamlessly matched the contour of the lower legs… I would’ve appreciated this being more closely matched.
I’m sure I’ll still get him, but I am slightly let down by this reveal.
This just doesn’t quite hit like the vast majority of SS86 figures have.

Blaster is a little different since he was a sort of "preview" figure always meant for Legacy but bumped up to Kingdom to pad the final wave. While Kingdom and Legacy are parts of two different larger series, as far retail is concerned they're all part of the same Generations line that takes up the same space on the shelves so transplanting one into the other isn't a big deal and we've continued to see that with package refreshes. SS is considered an entirely different Generations line and any transplants we've seen have been either retooled (SS86 Starscream) or exclusive repaints (Buzzworthy SS86 Cliffjumper, G2 Jazz). If Sunstreaker was the same unaltered mold as the Earthrise figure then he'd probably be a Buzzworthy repaint rather than part of the mass retail line.

I’m going to give Hastak the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t make Brawn back-heavy…
I’ve looked at photos more since my last post, and still,
this figure looks like it could’ve just been in an LE wave…
Just doesn’t have that SS86 look I’m used to and was hoping for.
But it’s still highly unlikely that I’d pass on him.

Same with the Insecticons, especially considering imo these Legacy versions are really, really good.
Well as I said before I don't think any of the past Bots need "improving upon", but Hasbro like to keep reissuing certain figures for new fans that come along. That said, SS86 doesn't need to continue for that to happen, they have either the main line or Buzzworthy for such reissues.

Soundwave
Astrotrain
Shockwave
Definitely in the top five for me! Though I'd place Astrotrain above the other two because I already have Siege Shockwave which suits me fine, and the Netflix Soundwave will do if a better one doesn't happen. My vote goes to Buzzsaw for the pack in because I don't much care for Ratbat.

My concern with Brawn is that the figure looks really back heavy, hopefully I'm wrong.
Yeah, I’m a 76er.
I’m going to give Hastak the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t make Brawn back-heavy…
I’ve looked at photos more since my last post, and still,
this figure looks like it could’ve just been in an LE wave…
Just doesn’t have that SS86 look I’m used to it was hoping for.
But it’s still highly unlikely that I’d pass on him.
Keep in mind, the figures first released in SS86 were meant for Kingdom so they're technically not the usual SS figures. No licensed altmodes no extra kibble to make those altmodes look right. I don't think all the G1 characters from Kingdom were meant to be movie nods but obviously ones like Cyclonus and Galvatron fit.
