However, if a ladybug Decepticon chooses to debut in Season 2, I would suspect that is definitely not him.

Er, what I mean is, one of the show's storyboarders, Kirk Van Wormer, Tweeted about a week ago that he and his coworkers are working on the show's "season 4", which is odd considering there hasn't been any word of a third season yet.

This screenshot from the latest trailer shown from the latest season 2 trailer shows that Grimock is fighting with a brand new Decepticon called Ransack. He is not to be confused with Ransack the Minicon. This is Ransack the Insecticon! He is in his robot mode. Please let me know if you found a picture of his alt-mode. Does he have a vehicle mode like Kickback, or does he turn into an insect for sure? I do believe that he will have a toy one day, as he had already been a toy numerous times from multiple generations since G1.

To give an example of something like this, Beast Wars had something similar going on behind the scenes back in the day, in which Doug Parker (Terrorsaur) once mentioned online that he was then-currently doing voice work for "season 3" of the show when season 2 hadn't even started yet. What Parker meant by this was actually season 2 because, on the production side of things, one season is 13 episodes and season 1 of Beast Wars had 26 episodes, so it was more like two seasons from the production side despite all 26 episodes airing on TV as a single season.

And here's an image from Hasbro Studios confirming this as well:
So, while it is possible that a Season 3 will still happen, it is highly unlikely considering the change in the total number of episodes and the fact that a movie will end Season 2 just like Predacons Rising ended Season 3 of Prime.

Cool, thanks for the data! I suppose that would line up with Hasbro's desire to the keep the focus on live-action during the relevant years - reminds me of this oddity we saw in 2014.Wonder whatever happened to those odd little badges - although I suppose 2015's would've been perfect for Steeljaw's gang... (and the prototype Predacon badge was likely a placeholder?)Smokescreen85 wrote:Hasbro Studios confirmed the RID series length at 45 x 22mins. Season 2 will be 16 episodes long and end with a movie that equals three episodes. It was originally supposed to be 78 x 22 mins. but that has now changed. Here's a link confirming this:
In terms of toys, I get the distinct impression that the current Mini-cons are pretty popular!

You do realize when they do end it they're just going to replace it with something similar, right? Hasbro's current model is to have three different lines going simultaneously with distinct, albeit overlapping, demographics. And then there's the movies in between that replaces all of the simplified cartoon toys with simplified movie toys. These things are never going away and will always be on the shelves as part of one line or another.

Yup, what Emerge said, plus Hasbro has made it pretty clear ever since G2 when the line practically died that the only way they get to ascertain that the brand remains in the public eye is to constantly have a media project backing it up for their core audience, which is 5-9 year olds. You cant get returning fans without getting some new fans in the first place.

At the very least RID is ending with a movie.
Comparing this "shorter season plus a movie" format to Prime season 3 an Predacons Rising is poor form since Prime season 3 was already done and over with by the time Predacons Rising was even conceived. Preds Rising was not in any of the plans for season 3. It came along after the fact. This new movie, however, is slated to be the conclusion of RID season 2 before that season has even begun airing, meaning that this movie was planned much farther ahead of schedule when compared to how Preds Rising was created as an afterthought.
And I repeat, there has been NO official word of RID ending with season 2. All we know for sure is that season 2 is shorter and has a movie coming at the end of the season. Know what other Hasbro Studios cartoon did that and is still ongoing? My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Its usual season length is 26 episodes, but its third season was only 13 episodes and had the first Equestria Girls movie come after it before the 26-episode fourth season, which in turn was followed by the second Equastria Girls movie, and then the 26-episode fifth season (with the third Equestria Girls movie coming during season 5 instead of after). Therefore, a movie coming after a show's season does not automatically mean that the whole show is ending for good.
Besides, Wormer very clearly Tweeted the following in a comment below his original Tweet:
He has to be working on a new season since all of the storyboarding for season 2 and its movie would be long since done by now.just starting up and it's looking to be a realllllllly fun season!

DVDs are sold after the facts though so I dont think they can be real determinants. The only determenant for TV is viewer rate (neilsen rating).

Yeah toys and merchandise in general I'm in no way saying that there are bad sales but I see a lot more rid on shelves then I ever saw Prime on shelves.
I'm just saying that sales are not possibly as good as Prime or a movie year.

We cant base it on that this time. Waves in RID repeat older toys. The latest wave has more steeljaws. So if you see a bunch of steeljaws, it doesnt mean for sure that its the same from last year but it could be that your store got the latest wave and the newer figures sold out because collector found them.
Popularity for these toys is thus impossible to judge this time since no one can guarantee that those are the very same toys they see each time and not new stock.

I have 2 kids. They love action series, are they an exception to the norm?. I mean... has there truly been a shift in the dynamic of kids today, that they only want stupid comedies, and that action cartoons are not in demand, or is that what CN just wants people to think?
IN any case, despite the seeming lack of evidence at this time, based on the recent history of CN, I do strongly believe the 2nd season of RiD15 will be its last. I have said this many times, but I am never to proud to happily admit if I am wrong, but CN recent history has killed so many great action series. Unless something changes within the senior management of CN, or perhaps the series goes over to Discovery Family, where it should have been in the first place (neither scenario I really see happening) I see very little prospects of RiD15 to go beyond season 2. And trust me... as someone who likes consistency, this saddens me. It is my ongoing torture being tied to the Transformers brand. Wanting an animated series with a long life, and never getting it because of the industries formula of rebranding the series every few years.

Note sure... Not many TV shows prior to the HD era are being released on Blu Ray (The various Star Trek series are some that come to mind), but they usually require some extensive digital reworking and preservation. Although what Mainframe was producing in the mid-90's to early 2000's was ground breaking, I'm not sure how well it would look in HD (would it look better, or only highlight the flaws in the early CG that we may not notice now??)
I also guess it depends on the quality of the master prints that S!F has. I know they have released Beast Wars a couple of times on DVD. I still have the original Rhino releases, so I don't cant say if the S!F ones are any better, or pretty much the same, just repackaged.
