this mother has working rubber tracks... what other tf can claim that? I mean i was thrilled to pieces with bludgeon so this is definitley a step up though they could've still made that cannon a bit better. maybe if it separated in 2.
Anyhow this will definitely lead the chug decepticons into battle.

Which one? There were a bunch, and I much prefer the one below to lead my decepticons since he kept his gun alt mode albeit in a classics design:

If I am correct, this megatron is actually a lil shorter Than mp -10.
I love the look of this megatron, but not to be used as a stand in mp megatron though.
If they were to have made the arms a lil slimmer, it would look more balanced. That's my only gripe with this megatron right now

You can get both Generations Megatrons for $89.99 shipped from Entertainment Earth at http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodi ... NbIPPmjNcY
Yeah, EE has a good deal too! I was going to get from there originally after BBTS sold out, but I'm on the fence about Armada Megatron. I might pick him up next month though when I have a little bit more money.

Appart that tiny gripe, that megatron just ooze perfection! When I see him in store, even at a 60$+tx price, I'll buy him on sight!

BBTS has them both still available for preorder too, for the same price as EE. That's where I get most of my stuff because of their POL feature, and the fact that they are just over the St. Croix river from me so I get stuff uber fast..
And no, I don't work for them, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night... (Let's see, any more product placement/advertising I can do? )

The Takara's United version is the best iteration of that Megatron. If this new Megatron were even just ultra sized, he would be a shoe-in for my Classics display.

As I've written elsewhere...Overall, I'm really looking forward to this Megatron, which looks better than his CHUG nerf-gun version. He's no Masterpiece, but he's the best HasTak G1-like Megs I've seen in a very long while. Generally, I've felt blah about many of the Megatron toys in the past, which leads me to a comparison of the Megatrons throughout the years...
RID/2000 Megs, though cool, didn't evoke "Megatron" to me, and seemed like a DeathSaurus type of toy/character.
I never cared for Armada Megs' moose antlers, and I love Energon Megs, but he's really G1 Galvatron.
Cybertron Megatron was a wacky-colored Unicron mash-up; the silver "Galvatron" was better.
Movie 1 Megs was a weird monster-faced, space-jet thing, like the Animated version, although the Animated Helicopter Megatron was cool. Movie 2 Tank Megatron was good, except for the stupid gimpy arm, and Movie Tanker Megs was Ok, but never got a decent Leader Mold.
Prime Megatron, like his Movie 1 counterpart, disappointed with a weak space-jet mode again, although his bot mode was Ok too.
WFC/FOC Megatron was good but deserved a Voyager or Leader mold, Titanium Megs was cool, but over-simplified.
We never got an Alternator Megs, a Cadillac concept would have been awesome though. Alternity Megs was Ok, but too small & not widely available like Alternators were.
IDW Megatron is cool, but again he should have been larger, & though I love my MP05, he's lanky, fiddly, delicate, and overly complex.
So this Combiner Wars Megatron is a large(ish), G1-like version that looks more promising than anything else for a very long while. He's not perfect, but he's the best I've seen these many years. Until MP Megatron version 2 comes out, this is my best substitute.

I've mostly skipped over a lot of Transformers the past couple years (bar a few AoE ones like Evasion Prime, Voyager Grimlock and the more recent Bumblebee, I just prefer the more complex realistic movie stuff over simplistic blocky cartoon TFs) and Combiner Wars just wasn't doing anything for me at all (nor was Hasbro's constant and annoying habit of having characters on opposite factions sharing molds) but this one I am tempted in buying.
I don't say it often but nice job on this one Hasbro/Takara.

See the WFC/FOC lines were purely Deluxes for the most part. The only others were voyagers which was with the Soundwave mold. Which worked for that line really well... I prefer the deluxe / voyager sizes over some of these leader classes.
This Megatron will definitely do... I am going to already make plans to add a little more height with a 3D printed foot extensions. Another prime that I feel like it doesn't get enough attention is Generations Deluxe Megatron. While its a re-used mold it works really well for him. His robot mode is intense...
I have a feeling this new Leader Megatron is going to be a "buy" on sight...

I just compared Ultra Silverbolt to Leader Jetfire. Leader Jetfire just edges out Ultra Silverbolt by a few centimeters, but yeah, it's not a big size difference all told. I'm thinking Leader Megatron won't look that out of place with the rest of the Classics figures, especially if you can kind of cheat his height a little bit with some fiddling in the legs and knees, but he's still going to dwarf Classics Optimus. CW Optimus would be a nice match, but I still think the Classics sculpt is a much better representation of the character overall, especially now that I have the Cloud version of the mold with G1 cartoon accurate coloring.

Why?
Hasbro's was closer.

G Leader Megatron looks more articulated than G Leader Jetfire. Think if the waist plate piece is un-tabed and pushed out a bit, the legs will get more forward movement.
Saw pics of the tank threads on the robot back posed differently. Prefer to pose the tank threads flattened out to the sides on the robot back.
Think since the robot wrist rotate. It's going to be easier for a 3rd party to create Replacement hands with fully articulated fingers.
Speculating MP-09 in that video did not have his hips extended into Rodimus Prime Robot height. The Legs hips were transformed and shortened for the Hotrod smaller robot mode. That's why G Leader Megatron and MP-09 were the same robot height of Nine inces tall. MP-09 is 9.5 inches tall with the hips extended for the taller Rodimus Prime robot mode.
Still don't like the big rectangular gap in the robot chest. Makes Megatron look like he's wearing a vest. Suppose a 3rd party or shapeways guy can easily create a gap filler part for the chest.

I'm of the opposite opinion - I could use a smaller Megatron. Perhaps a large voyager. That makes the most sense given all the deluxe/voyager Generations-style figures we've gotten over the last 10 or so years.
That said, I would like a nice big Generations Optimus, too.

Think if HasTak or a 3rd party created Trailer armor that CW Voyager Optimus and Motormaster could combine with. That had the trailer parts attach to the combiner ports on the arms and legs. This might make a slew of fans happy.

Re: Voyager Silverbolt, with the fact that Superion's antennae are made of soft plastic, and with how they fold down when SB is in robot mode, they are certainly in an odd place.

Several Combiner Wars figures turned up at our local wal-mart this week. The Legion figures and Voyager figures from Wave1. This included 2 Silverbolt voyager figures, and 3 Optimus Prime voyager figures. I quickly snagged the two Bombshell figures and a Powerglide. But I had no interest in Silverbolt or Optimus (since I am waiting for the Stunticons to collect Menasor instead). I left all the other figures on the shelf.
That was Friday evening, when the figures were first put out. I checked Wal-mart again late on Sunday, just to see if they had put out any of the Deluxe figures (since I am on the hunt for Dragstrip). Almost all of the Legion figures were gone. All of the Silverbolt figures were gone.
But NONE (count it - NONE) of the Optimus Prime figures had been sold. Not a one. And I predict that the OP figures will move very slowly, if they move at all. Why is this? Because the market for Optimus figures has been well and very thoroughly saturated. There are tons of Optimus figures out there, and everybody who wanted an Optimus figure already has one.
I would add parenthetically that Bumblebee should be included here. He may not be in the CW line (yet), but Hasbro has clotted the market with enough Bumblebee figures, repaints, retools and remolds to sink an aircraft carrier. There's a reason why the Bumblebee figures and Optimus figures are usually the last ones to be sold, and it's because Hasbro has relied too heavily on them to the point where the casual buyer just doesn't WANT them anymore. A normal buyer going into the store, and seeing a whole mess of new Bumblebee and Optimus figures isn't going to go all doe-eyed and sigh, 'At last! MORE of these figures for me to buy!' They're going to shake their heads and wince, and say, 'Oh great. More of THESE figures. Like I haven't got enough already?'
It's an easy choice to leave these on the shelf for the newer figures that we DON'T have yet. Sure, there are people who are aficionados, and who will buy any Bee or Optimus figure that Hasbro waves under their nose. But not enough of them to merit the colossal number of the same characters they are constantly cranking out.
So pay attention here, Hasbro. It's a phenomenon that you ought to take note of very seriously. I observed it directly, and experienced it directly. Has anyone else?

I hear you, but we also thought that there were always way too many Autobots available per Decepticon (both Bumblebee and Optimus being autobots helps that) and yet every fan poll thus far has resulted in the masses asking for more autobots. I think in your case, the collectors got the silverbolts but the masses will eventually buy those optimuses. I still remember the week before Christmas when I went to toysrus and saw all the parents stripping the shelves of the smash and change optimus which until that point had been shelfwarming. I really think what you mentioned is more a case of two portions of the market and their buying tendencies rather than Optimus being less of a selling point than he used to be.
There's a reason he can't stay dead.

Well, Leader Megs looks as awesome as I expected. Unfortunately, he's as tall as I expected. Too big for my Classics (looks like he's taking his boy to the park!), and too small for my MP Prime.
I'm gutted. Such a cool looking figure.

I personally have a pretty strict "don't over Prime" rule. But, I have been doing this for almost 20 years. That being said, I will have CW Prime because I have been dreaming of a OP who could combine since I was a 7 year old boy. (well more like 10)
The dagblasted Voyagers still haven't landed in my town yet.

Autobot fans outweigh Decepticon Fans... But what seems to be more true... Decepticon fans are more loyal...
(I say that because I am one!) Fan polls are definitely killing our opportunity for Fans choice Decepticons!
Id like to see other Autobot leadership step up, even the return of Rodimus... Even though he kind of annoys me.
What is more interesting is seeing what warms the shelves. As it is right now my local stores are warming with Voyager Generations, a few AOE's... AOE Leader Gridlock...
Even MP Sunstorm still on the shelves with Starscream sitting right next to him!
Seems to me with this Trucker Strike, and then seemingly the lines are lagging just a bit behind... Which is surprising as the AOE line launched perfectly for the most part... I suppose they learned from Dark of the Moon a good bit...

You may be right - time will indeed tell. I check walmart periodically (and will for Leader Megatron especially), so I'll keep a close eye and see if the Optimus figures move over the next week or so. I predict one or two will probably sell, but more figures will come out in the meantime, and the last Optimus will stay on the shelf in favor of the newer ones, and remain there until the box is battered, and probably re-taped because some dumb kids tried breaking into it to play with it.
If any of the CW line wind up on discount at Ross or TJ Maxx, it will probably be the voyager optimus.
