That is a repaint of the RiD Windblade. and the green Groove is Rust Dust, the chest piece to Victorion

That's the symbol for the Autobot Security Services operating under Sentinel Prime. It's origin? Why, the IDW comics of course, Megatron Origins to be exact. It is missing the central chevron however:

I'd be tempted to get that set just because of Sentinel's faction symbol but since he seems translucent I think I won't. Reprolabels'll always come around anyway :p
It's funny he has his own faction symbol now. I was just thinking the other week about how Sentinel Prime, at least this one, is being marketed as a heroic autobot leader to kids and they'll be getting him thinking "woah, an Optimus Prime that's orange and turns into a spaceship!" sort of deal. When we know the horrible, horrible things he's done. Oh IDW~

At the Hasbro panel, they said the deco for Windblade in the SDCC set is meant to be Fort Max colors.

A great touch - shame it can't save hasbro's 'deco'
That's a key point. Through minor use of paint apps, Takara manages to make their figures not look like cheap crap. The exact opposite of Hasbro's apparent strategy.

She was initially linked with Metroplex, right? In this take on the character she could be linked with Fort Max instead and thus would have different colours showing her new "colours".

Since all the Platinum sets are supposed to be recreating prominent scenes - or in the case of Autobot Heroes, bundling together characters that were in a team together - I am starting to think this is a hint at an upcoming IDW Titans Return crossover. And so far this has all the makings of 'what the fuck', what with Sentinel back, Windblade linking up with Fort Max and then joining with Brainstorm from the Lost Light. I don't know how to feel about it. Just as long as Hasbro doesn't mess IDW's story up as bad as Combiner Wars...

They had some really fun displays and the sculpting is amazing. There are lots of play options and this is going be a real fun line to pick up and tinker with. I'm even excited by the little single head packs, they'll be the cheap and easy minicon buys of this line.

This set doesnt have anything to do with IDW. Fort Max is clearly a Titan in whatever fiction that Windblade belongs to. He's on the box, you can see the tip of his fingure holding the sword:
So yeah, she's just coordinated with the titan she is serving.

Well then we can have some hands on perspective on this stuff. From what you saw, can you let us know which figures excite you the most? Is Apeface also a must have for you?

Well let me get the "duh of course I'm getting them guys" out of the way.william-james88 wrote:Well then we can have some hands on perspective on this stuff. From what you saw, can you let us know which figures excite you the most? Is Apeface also a must have for you?
Chromedome y Rewind - well obvs for my Lost Light shelf and the hopeless romantic in me
Wheelie is another buy on site
Fort Max is really starting to call my name
Galvatron is probably the biggest surprise for me, the sculpting is just awesome and I don't own a Galvy yet
While the deluxes look cool, not many of them really call my name, maybe Blurr, Hardhead and what ever the new twin heli one is called (I like my Gen Brainstorm and as you may know I'm not really a fan of beastformers)
The triple changing voyagers are looking nice, but unlike CW I'm only getting one of each mold - so really just Astrotrain and see above about A3
I may get one of the boomboxes, but I haven't made up my mind yet - I would like at least one playset
And I'll probably get a butt load of the small individual Titan Masters - just for fun - and what's the deal with Apeface, why all the hype?
It's really the design aesthetic and sculpting that impressed me the most. They are all so Cybertronian and lovely looking. Tak's got my attention with all their awesome paint apps for the deluxes.
If you need me later this year I will be apologizing to my wallet.

carytheone wrote:what's the deal with Apeface, why all the hype?
The hype comes from the semi fakeout we got (and technically are still getting). He was introduced as just a head before. And that was all we saw on the first day since we just see a hed on the box. And that blows right? Whats awesome about that guy is that he turns into a robot gorilla and a space ship And we were getting just his head.
BUT as it turns out they are going all out with that titan master. The vehicle he comes with is a ship that does turn into a gorilla. And its all super cute one at that. So sure, this isnt the G1 apeface, but its a new cute version that respects his namesake within the confines of what they could do with that size class.
Pretty much what I mean is you have Nightbeat who comes with a drill tank that turns into what looks like a jet. And thats kind of lame if this is all we get for Nightbeat.
But now we have Apeface who comes with a plane that turns into a gorilla. Now thats taking advantage of the apeface name if this is all we get.
Its pretty much the same hype fans were giving to Legion RID Clampdown but this is a toy that offers far more and done even better.

Same with Alpha Trion in spaceship mode. By attaching the weapon, you can have one riding indie and have another in the clear yellow cockpit. Does Hardhead need to attach the weapon to have multiple TMs?

The weapons is always ready for a hop-on in either mode so technically yes, but why wouldn't he have his weapon.william-james88 wrote:carytheone wrote:Ah Will, so I see. Speaking of Titan Master shenanigans. Have you seen that some alt modes support multiple TMs?

I think fun is one of the things they are pushing silently the hardest. That middle display with Fort Max had so many fun little easter eggs. And fun is definetely how I feel about the toyline - I mean sure getting a good Blurr and Chromedome to display is great, but Skullcruncher and Weirdwolf just look so fun in beast mode and I'm loving the titan masters expanding on the headmasters. Play Pattern is 10/10 and they've even got some combiners in Victorion, G2 Bruticus and Computron to expand even more

It arguably is, but TR looks like it does it so much better with so many different ways of doing things. Combiners admittedly are a bit limited due to sacrifices that have to be made so Scramble City is the silver lining of playability. They're best as a supplement to a different main play pattern rather than the entire line imo; Titan Masters are much more malleable

I don't know, this line seems inherently more fun. Maybe it's all the little vehicles and play sets. Things that aren't just transformers or action figures to stand on a shelf and look cool. TR seems like something that will be spread across the living room floor, made into bases and have battles for hours.
CW seemed more like a thing to collect with the fun coming in the mixing and matching. TR just seems more toy like to me. Maybe that's why I wasn't that in to TR at first. I thought I wanted cool things on a shelf to tinker with from time to time. Maybe my perspective is changing?

I forget Cary, were you into the MP Line? I dont remember that being your thing. Because if cool stuff on a shelf to tinker from time to time was your thing then I would have strongly encouraged MP. Thats the king of all that. And yes I do find it fun that we have something at the tail end of that spectrum available too

Yes, I do like the MP line, it's one of my focuses this year. The other being some of the nicer classics/universe stuff that I missed and botcon helped me fill in some nice gaps (you were right about the classic seekers btw, they are great).william-james88 wrote:I forget Cary, were you into the MP Line? I find there is room for all the different types of figures. From 1-step to MP; there's a market at every stop along the way. I'll be getting a few cherry picked figures from the TR line just to experience what the Titan Masters is all about. Probably the ones that I need to fill in the gaps. I will not be going whole hog like I did with the CW line though.
Yay on the legends case pack. No interest in Stripes the table cat, but Rewind and Wheelie are high on my list of BoS and the price point for legends scale makes an easy retail pick-up while hunting.

My perspective is shifting all the time lately. Can't make up my mind about what figures I want. I am excited about this line, as I know I won't lose the little figures that create the heads/weapons this time around (RIP my original G1 Gort and Recoil )
And yeah Will, MP all day. Buuuuuuuuuuuut, TR with swappable heads and such? FUN! I really wish they brought back the tech spec indicator on the HeadTitanMasters..

They look absolutely amazing in person! The molded detail makes up for all the hollowness, though hollow parts have never bothered me that much. Blurr's plastic color kinda looked a little bit lighter than in photos to me. The Titan Masters are so tiny! I wish I had brought my Headrobots Stronghold to try and estimate the height of the Titanmasters, but I can tell from a glance they are smaller than Stronghold and maybe even smaller than Micromasters and Mini-cons. Blaster and Soundwave look incredible in person! I'm definitely getting both of them. Alpha Trion looked great, PMOP looked really cool in person, Galvatron looked even more bad*ss than he already did, the deluxe all looked really good, Fortress Maximus has me very excited, and the stand-alone Titanmaster heads are wonderful and their cheap price means I can buy a ton of them.
