Nemesis Primal wrote:Is it possible that Stepper's color sceme is based on Cybertron Lugnutz, or am I just halucinating again?
Pete outright said that Stepper's paint scheme came from a reversal of the Primary/trim colors on the original. The reddish (orange? yeah...) flame decals on black, inverted to black flames on a reddish (orange?)
But your right, I do see Lugnutz, intentional or not.
I for one, like the colors and the flame pattern, but this is a figure I can pass on quite easily.

Sorry, missed that memo. I don't mean to be a tinfoil hatter, can we pretend I never said any of this?

We had BotCon sets without SG last year (Pirates vs. Knights) and the year before (Machine Wars: Termination). This includes the souvenirs.

Speaking of the colors, was at the store this morning and found what may have been the inspiration for them?
Posted by gothsaurus on April 19th, 2015 @ 9:20am CDT
Looking back I think that was something the early years did really well. While the mail lines were putting out bright colors for kids, the botcon toys were decidedly more adult and dark. Black, dark blue, dark green. Unless homaging g2, I love it when the con toys lean toward grown up schemes. Guess that's why I'm pleased with all the nice blue bots this year.
Looking forward to more reveals. Guessing this orange may be a nice flash of color in the set after they're all on the shelf.

What? Like last year? Or the year before that? We haven't gotten a single SG figure at BotCon OR through the club for the past two years, unless you insist on counting last year's Rodimus Kreon. If so, that's really petty.
You may not like SG, but a lot of folks do, so don't deny those of us who do the chance to get ONE figure out of the set that's SG this year.

Bad Wolf wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Ok, now only the Boss and Bounty Hunter remain. Let's recap what we have:
1.) the Boss will most likely be based on something from Dark of the Moon with 62811 (June 28 2011, movie premier) and something else with 484 (4-84, 48-4, 4-8-4, or "DHD" even).
Anyone?
This still leads me to believe the "Boss" is going to be Mirage/Ligier
6/28/11 - DotM Movie
4-84 - Mirage was Autobot "#4" in the original 84 line up
I still haven't figured out what mold/color they would use. possibly they could go with his DotM "Dino" color scheme, in the Gen BB/Nightbeat mold?
Hmmmm... To be honest we kept thinking of Decepticon bosses. Were there any Autobot-allied bosses that are a bit shady?

NightViper wrote:Applying only logic, the orange comes from the yellow and red on G1 Stepper's flames...
But outside of that it's because it looks cool. It's a very Halloween-esque color scheme that makes him look evil in a fun way.

Nothing against Stepper, myself, but I do still kinda wish it had been Zoom-Zoom instead. The bo could have written him as a loose cannon by saying something like this:RiddlerJ wrote:If I do get SG Stepper, he's going to be Zoom Zoom.
ZOOM-ZOOM is no ordinary AUTOBOT. In the reality designated the "BT World", the Autobot scientist PERCEPTOR worked many long hours on the Timaeus Project. One such experiment required a test subject needed to access the Timaeus Drive for the project to be a success. The AUTOBOT known as MEISTER volunteered one of his GT System duplicates, designation "ZOOM-ZOOM", for the experiment. However, PERCEPTOR'S theory contained a small margin of error that proved larger than believed. The experiment caused a rift in space-time, which pulled ZOOM-ZOOM into its vortex. The savage energies of Transwarp space greatly affected ZOOM-ZOOM's programming, turning it into a rampaging berserker. Upon finally exiting the rift, the now-living, mad ZOOM-ZOOM found himself in the world of Axiom Nexus. Constantly at war with himself, ZOOM-ZOOM struggles to keep himself under control from lashing out in blind fury. Deemed a public menace by Axiom Nexus's officials, ZOOM-ZOOM desperately sought help from anyone he could find, eventually finding refuge with other fellow bots on the run from the law.
And then another sentence or two about his personality or so.

I think of all the untapped avenues, Groundbreaker would be a better fit for the "loose cannon" over all. He's established to be a bit kill crazy, and it would be interesting from a story perspective to see an autobot who thinks he's doing the right thing, despite the fact his actions are deplorable, to the point he's working with decipticons. Also, in regards to figures, I think it would be neat either to see the monochromatic colorscheme on beast hunters bumblebee, or alternatively the pretender shell deco on Generations voyager Roadbuster.

You don't think they'd make Sentinel Prime from someone do you? The only figure off the top of my head that would work would be RID Optimus Prime.
I just don't see Mirage being the boss. I can't find where the "4" for Mirage is coming from. Lambor or Sideswipe was C-04 in Japan. D-84 was Abominus. Also, Mirage would be sketchy to begin with because of the rumored limb of him.

They're not supposed to: the mantis is colored like (and probably is) "Ze Doctor", the mace refers to G1's More than Meets the Eye pt. 2, and the cannon... well it's always been black

Yeah, it feels like scalpel should be more of an off white, whether a bone white, or borderline grey, whilst the energon mace should be more of a silver, or mat grey flail than the well, the bright pink energon mace. homaging the aspect of his melee, rather than making a direct alteration of it.

BattleTrap should have been a main line release, as a Voyager case-filler when the movie comes out next year so new molds aren't swamped under the inevitable movie-verse tsunami.

I also bet that cybertron Sideways will be the bounty hunter. He would fit in because he is a dimensional traveler, and I can picture him being a bounty hunter.

Scalpel from the mantis Micron in white won't ever stop being a great idea.
I love the face on Megatron. I'm glad that his head didn't end up too small on that body too.

Right now they'r banking most everything in the box set on oilmaster, a double pretender with two robots inside a shell. Outside of that, I suspect the pollybag sets are going to where it it's at.

I can agree with you there battle trap should have been released as a main line figure but we might be lucky and get a main line release with some remolded parts later on like they did with the seekers and coneheads. But that is a big hopefully though.
