A megatron with a classics body and a DOTM head would be the most stupid thing funpub ever came up with. I really hope they dont disgrace the breakdown mold in that fashion.
It might be the opposite with instead the body having the DOTM look while the head has a G1 look. Or it could even be some other guy who isn't Megatron but whose body is colored like DOTM Megatron. We'll have to wait and see.

In vehicle mode, DoTM Megatron was a pretty compact voyager class figure. He could fit in the egg. I say the Boss will be in the small egg, though. Just for laughs. It would be hilarious if it was a redeco of Armada Leader-1. (No chance.)

I don't quite follow. :???:

I was still referring to the Prime Breakdown mold. If you mean the DOTM Megatron mold could be in one of the eggs, Fun Pub can't use it since it's a Paramount-owned Movie mold.

I too had considered their making the Boss be the smallest one. But then we got the leak from Pete's desk, and then the I numbers sprang up on BotCon.com, and one thing led to another, and so here we are. :P

I'd love to see that mold re-used, especially that version of it.
It might be the one figure that interests me if it does do something with a Megatron concept. :-?

Just to be clear, I'm still referring to the Prime Breakdown mold in DOTM Megaron colors, rather than the DOTM Megatron mold proper.

What I dont get is why Megatron would even be an option when CW Megatron just got released ? (Not to mention Armada Megatron) Isnt the whole idea behind Botcon repaints to give fans obscure characters that Hasbro/Takara wont ? There is no shortage of classics Megatrons, so what's the point ?

Again, the body may be based on DotM Megatron, but the character who would be using that body may be someone completely different. They key to ID'ing that character may lay in the "484" part of his code.

Toys Hasbro/Takara won't? Yes. Only obscure toys? Not necessarily.

And this wouldn't be a Classics version of Megatron. It would be just a brand new Megatron in and of itself, like how the Megatrons of Beast Wars, RID 2001, Armada/Energon/Cybertron, the movies, Animated, and Prime all were.

The Club doesn't cater specifically to Classics collectors. That's never been its main priority.

1.) the Boss will most likely be based on something from Dark of the Moon with 62811 (June 28 2011, movie premier) and something else with 484 (4-84, 48-4, 4-8-4, or "DHD" even).

Anyone?

This still leads me to believe the "Boss" is going to be Mirage/Ligier
6/28/11 - DotM Movie
4-84 - Mirage was Autobot "#4" in the original 84 line up

I still haven't figured out what mold/color they would use. possibly they could go with his DotM "Dino" color scheme, in the Gen BB/Nightbeat mold?

I respectfully disagree. Almost everything Funpub has released since 2005 (except 2011 animated set) has been classics oriented. Remember "classics" or "CHUG" is just a moniker for homaging past characters from older continuities. Be it G1, Cybertronian pre-beast modes, Machine Wars, Shattered Glass, Elite Guard, etc. But it's all classics oriented. It's not Bayformers and it's not Hasbro's aligned continuity. It's re-purposing non CHUG molds into the classics toy line making it all classics.

Lemme stop ya right there for a sec. Classics didn't come out until 2006, and during which time it was just a filler line made to buy time for the upcoming movie toys and not meant to continue past 2007 (this is why the BotCon 2007 set was a means to finish off the Classics line). Fun Pub's first exclusives were in 2005 (like you said), which was before Classics even existed. So what exactly was Fun Pub trying to do at the time back then when Classics neither existed nor was meant to be as big as it would become a few years later?

Still "Classics" in a sense, by the sheer argument the 2005 and 2006 were still based on the whole G1 universe, despite not being called "Classics". G1 characters still got updated (Fallback, Deszaras, Ironhide and Ratchet), and were expanded upon, most notably showing pre-Beast Wars forms in the 2006 set.
As a matter of fact, many G1 characters got new forms or alternate universe counterparts for BotCon ever since FunPub took the helm. 3H took to inventing new and original (meaning they lack a base character, thus don't homage anyone) characters each year, except for:

- 2001 Arcee
- 2001 Tigatron
- 2002 Cyclonus
- 2003 Sideswipe & Sunstreaker

Do note, that this shouldn't be taken as FunPub catering to Classics-collectors exclusively, otherwise we wouldn't have the Animated, Shattered Glass and soon the Beast Wars: Uprising figures. BotCon offers more than just updates of G1(-based) characters that Hasbro will not touch.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Leaving aside that idea that Megatron isn't obscure, and this claim that "the whole idea behind BotCon repaints is to give fans obscure characters" (that may be, but I don't think this is by any means certain), if I had to make a guess as to why Hasbro might allow BotCon to do a Megatron even though they have Megatron plans of their own, I doubt that Hasbro considers that a BotCon Megatron would dilute any fan demand for a retail version in the same way that they might consider a BotCon... Doubledealer (to use just one example that we know BotCon has been denied in the past) might dilute fan demand for a retail Doubledealer. Hasbro may feel that (at the moment, at least) there's always room for more Megatrons.

(And, indeed, this could work both ways, Hasbro may not want to let BotCon do a toy that, if Hasbro had done, could dilute interest in folks signing up for BotCon to get the BotCon toy. Granting that this is less certain than even my other guess).

BotCon 2015 Transformers Exclusives: Official Pics of "The Loose Cannon" Shattered Glass Stepper

Postby shajaki » Sat Apr 18, 2015 9:29 pm

Motto: "A man who wants nothing is invincible."
Botcon has updated their site with official shots of 2015 box set figure #3, "The Loose Cannon" Shattered Glass Stepper and Nebulon! The rich history behind Stepper includes sharing molds with Autobot Jazz (in G1 and Reveal the Shield/United), being from the parallel evil "Shattered Glass" universe, and going by the name Ricochet (sometimes depending on which way the wind is blowing). But specifically, this is a re-deco of the Million Publishing Exclusive Stepper. Keep scrolling to see the pics, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com for all your Transformers News!

Eh, honestly, the more I see of this one specifically, I really don't see the appeal. Unlike the others, Stepper's really passionless, which makes it worse considering that it's one of the concepts the club wanted to make for awhile.

Pete outright said that Stepper's paint scheme came from a reversal of the Primary/trim colors on the original. The reddish (orange? yeah...) flame decals on black, inverted to black flames on a reddish (orange?)

But your right, I do see Lugnutz, intentional or not.

I for one, like the colors and the flame pattern, but this is a figure I can pass on quite easily.

Pete outright said that Stepper's paint scheme came from a reversal of the Primary/trim colors on the original. The reddish (orange? yeah...) flame decals on black, inverted to black flames on a reddish (orange?)

But your right, I do see Lugnutz, intentional or not.

Sorry, missed that memo. I don't mean to be a tinfoil hatter, can we pretend I never said any of this?
