Seibertron.com member Energon recently got the opportunity to review the upcoming issue of IDW's Reign of Starscream. Continue to scroll down to read her review. Be warned though, a few spoilers may be mentioned.

Reign of Starscream issue #3

Story by Chris Mowry, Art by Alex Milne, Colors by Josh Perez, Edits by Denton Tipton

I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible.

You can look forward to a host of characters in Reign #3 that you will recognize as having been hanging on pegs in the toy aisle at your local superstore. RoS 3 has an actively progressing storyline and you can count on interesting interaction from the likes of Starscream, Thundercracker and Arcee. I even like Arcee in this one. I don’t like looking at her (even Alex’s magic can only do so much). Her look is dictated by higher powers. What I like is that she is not put on a fembot pedestal. She is more warrior like. Arcee has had things happen in her past that marred her record and seem to still follow her around and she has worked hard to overcome that and so she is eager to prove her capability against the Decepticons.

Thundercracker who is obviouly being considered for second in command is eager to prove his worth. He does make a grand entrance. But you will have to read the story to see what happens as he tests his own mettle against the Autobots.

Chris Mowry in RoS 2 set you up to expect more action as a continuation in RoS 3. Not only can you expect some decent explosive battles, but the characters take an active role in deciding the action. Did I mention the robot carnage? There is a whole lot going on that is put into a short 22 pages.

Who does what to whom you ask, I wish I could say more, since there is a whole lot more, the best stuff I can't post. This is about Starscream after all. But I did get permission to post this image:

The technical stuff: The overall quality of this issue is excellent. No noticeable errors. The line art by Alex is just unbelievable and the skill with which it was colored by Josh (at least on my computer screen) is fantastic. I have read the story twice since I got the copy this morning and looked at some pages a whole bunch of times. I see more stuff the more I look at it. The story is great, Chris did an awesome job of putting everything together.

I love this Starscream. This is good stuff here.

---Energon---

Do you think Starscream is a capable leader? If Sector Seven wasn’t deactivated, what are they up to? Will Starscream choose someone you know as second in command? Who is running the show for the Autobots? Do you think Frenzy was of any use to Starscream?

Special thanks to Chris Mowry for providing me with the advanced copy of Reign of Starscream issue #3.

Simon Furman has once again updated his blog, this time with information concerning the upcoming "Revelations" Arc to be released by IDW Publishing.

The "Revelations" Arc will be released in the form of four new Spotlight issues, with part the first focusing on IDW-verse newcomer Cyclonus.

Unlike many of Furman's "Script Wraps", this one is rather cryptic in form, and reveals few spoilers, but spoilers are still contained within, so skip the next paragraph if you wish to remain unspoiled:

This wasn’t going to be the animated movie Cyclonus. By recreating Galvatron as a new character we’d effectively recreated Cyclonus too. So who was this Cyclonus? What made him tick? What draws him, at the outset of the issue, back to the ruin of Cybertron? And then, the supporting cast: Hound’s crew (Sideswipe, Road Rocket, Skram and Warpath) and Ultra Magnus were pulled into the mix. Then, in separate but interconnected strands, Arcee, Nightbeat, Optimus Prime, Jetfire and others. All enmeshed in the same mystery but unaware (yet) of the connections, the bigger picture. Oh and there’s our first look at the full Dead Universe cast and the big (and I do mean BIG) reveal at the end of the issue.

Revelations #1 / Spotlight:Cyclonus will ship in June 2008, with Interior artwork by E.J. Su, with covers by Su and Nick Roche.

Simon Furman has once again updated his blog this time with a Script Wrap concerning the upcoming issues #11 and #12 of the Titan UK Magazine.

Issues #11 and #12 will include parts 3 and 4 of the "Twilight’s Last Gleaming" arc that has been running since Titan UK #9. Set in an alternative Movie based Universe, "Twilight’s Last Gleaming" is the story of what would have happened if the Decepticons were victorious in the Battle of Mission City.

As with any of Furman's Script Wrap's, there are plenty of minor and major spoilers for the issues, so for those who do not wish to have "Twilight’s Last Gleaming" spoilered, please skip the next paragraph.

Starscream does what Starscreams have been doing since time immemorial, making his own power play for control of the new empire. And if that means provoking a reaction from the Autobot reinforcements (including the likes of Arcee, Armorhide and Skyblast) on the moon, so be it. More familiar faces start to emerge as the story cranks up to fever pitch, including Frenzy (Mikaela’s got him), Bonecrusher (Ironhide and Ratchet have got him) and Tom Banacek (who’s kind of once removed from the main action). And Bumblebee? He’s got by the far the worst deal: one on one with Megatron. That’s gonna hurt!

Titan UK Issue #11 & 12 will be available in stores on the 24th of April, with Issue #12 available a month later on May the 22nd.

Simon Furman has once again updated his Blog, this time with information pertaining to the upcoming IDW Publishing series "Revelation".

Furman follows on some earlier news reports concerning the Revelations series.

Be warned that like our earlier stories that Furman's information does contain slight spoilers.

The news is out: the next main arc in the IDW/TF-verse series will indeed (as previously reported) be Revelation, but instead of the usual 6-issue format it’ll play out over four interconnected Spotlights (Cyclonus, Hardhead, Doubledealer and Sideswipe). Expect major plotlines to be resolved as the last of the -ions (for the foreseeable) brings the Dead Universe storyline (that’s been bubbling under ever since Spotlight: Nightbeat) to a suitably shattering conclusion.

Furman goes on to mention that he will be continuing his often spoilerific "Script Wraps", and that the Spotlight style will not be altered in these upcoming 4 issues. The content to be found in the upcoming Revelation series will however:

fallout from Stormbringer, Spotlight Hot Rod, Spotlight Nightbeat, Spotlight Galvatron, Spotlight Arcee and more. And when I say fallout, I mean it. The lives and destinies of numerous main characters are altered forever as two universes clash explosively.

To close Furman gives us a hint about what else is to come out of the doors and minds of IDW :

Oh, and don’t think this is the end. There’s another series (no, not The 13 or All Hail Megatron) to come, one set firmly in the ‘-ion’ continuity. More on this soon! 08 is SO going to blow you away!

Simon Furman has once again updated his blog, this time with information pertaining to Spotlight: Arcee.

I expect Arcee to be divisive. Though I hope also, regardless of the whole he-she-it thing going on, people will enjoy it for the rattling good actioner I believe it to be. And boy, does a lot happen this issue.

Guest-stars abound… Ultra Magnus, Fortress Maximus (taking his full IDW bow), Banzaitron, the Combaticons (also debutees), Jetfire, the Technobots and more!

And it all revolves around a certain character whose name has been uttered more and more frequently in various Spotlights (and even the ‘ongoing’ by now… I think), and will play a big part in what’s to come this year. So, while self-contained, this is without hyperbole a KEY issue.

Spotlight Arcee is writen by Simon Furman, with Art duties going to Alex Milne.

Due to the President's Day Holiday, exact release date information is unknown, but Spotlight: Arcee is expected to ship out on either Wednesday the 20th or Thursday the 21st of February 2008 (and a day later for UK, Australia and other markets).
