Contrary to some of the more recent and more popular public reports in regards to the Hollywood writers strike of the The Writers Guild of America,
the strike is not yet over!!!
According to a
report by
United Press International, although, as previously reported, a new contract has been drawn up that looks to settle the current dispute, a vote will be made this tuesday by the members of the Writers Guild to determine if the strike is to end or to continue.
"
Remember: until the votes are counted, we are still on strike, although picket lines are suspended. We will announce the vote count later Tuesday night," Michael Winship, president of the WGA East, said Monday on the WGAE Web site.

According to a
Reuters Report,
Hasbro Inc. sales for the fourth quarter of 2007 rose by 16.3% to $1.3 Billion.
Hasbro's international sales rose 29% with their operating profit climbing to 40 percent, or $489.2 million, thanks largely to sales of Transformers, Nerf and Furreal product lines.
This good news for the second largest American Toy Company has come on the back of Mattel Inc. claiming record profits, despite a 3% sales drop in the North American Market.
Hasbro expects to continue with high sales through 2008 with the Transformers: Animated, Spiderman and Star Wars lines, with 2 feature films (Transformers 2 and GI Joe) to further boost sales in 2009.

Brandweek.com has posted an
article on their site, proposing how the marketing of Transformers and the recent
Michael Bay Transformers movie may have changed the face of toy-marketing today. The article was written as response to the fact that Mattel has signed Hollywood deals with Creative Artists Agency for some of their brands, much like
Hasbro has done with Dreamworks over their intellectual proporties like Transformers and G.I. Joe. Which in the case of Transformers made 700 million dollars at the box office alone in 2007.
