James Roberts has been doing quite a bit to flesh out Megatron's character in flashbacks, and John Barber managed to add a lot to the character by showing how others react to him. All of this goes back to the Chaos/Chaos Theory story arcs from the end of the first ongoing, so it's not as if Megatron's turn to being an Autobot came out of the blue.

His friendship with Bumblebee on the other hand...

Yup, Galvatron was around before Megatron in IDW. Heck, there's also Overlord, Gigatron and Dezaras :)

Woah, they are no longer the same person?!

Also, speaking of Megatron...

Image

Galvatron was introduced back when Simon Furman was writing his "-ation" minis. Megatron and Galvatron have never been the same person in the IDW books. Same goes for Cyclonus and Scourge and their Seeker/Insecticon counterparts.

Aren't they using Car Robots Gigatron/RID Galvatron as the current Galvatron? I think that's pretty cool. Or is he Gigatron in the books? Either way I'm glad that evil Mofo is getting some face time.

I'd love to see a new Overlord toy.

My two cents. Sorry if it's longer than I originally thought it would be.
(I haven't quoted anyone as too many other posts have already been posted while I was working on this while at work.)

I have zero problem with Alpha Bravo, the guy is a good figure has a nice transformation and looks good posed with other versions of Aerialbots in my collection.

For the record, born in '74 and first memory of Transformer let alone G1 was seeing the original first wave of toys at K-Mart and was hooked immediately. This was about 2 weeks before the show even came out. I had the original Superion, and clearly remember the day I bought Skydive at Woodwards to complete the set, when I couldn't find him anywhere else.

I have a decent current Superion for my needs I have already spent enough on, so I currently are not worried about getting the CW version, that said I bought Alpha Bravo two days ago, and opened him up yesterday.

Will I change my mind about getting CW Superion should Hasbro release Slingshot? Maybe.
Will I change my mind if the Takara one is available at a decent price? Maybe.
If I do will Alpha Bravo be thrown under the bus? Not a chance.

It has nothing to do him being a helicopter instead of a harrier like Slingshot.
It has nothing to do with if they use the same base for Blades (which I'll also buy) or Vortex (not worried, I like my FP/superlink Bruticus for him.) If the same mold is used for the fan-designed team, I'll likely buy that one, as well.
It has nothing to do with being Geewon or not.
It has everything to do with the fact that change happens, either you roll with it, take it as it comes and enjoy things, or bitch and let it weigh you down.

If you like the character, buy it. If you hate the character, bitching he exists won't change the past. As far as Off-Road goes, As I do plan to get that set, i'm getting him, and if Wildrider is released later, Off-Road will be posed beside them. Rook (hell yhea I'm buying this guy) will not see a fraction of this hate, simply because many of us see Groove being moved away from being a limb is a good thing, regardless for how it effects the G1ness of Defensor.

To a lesser degree but introduced to the conversation already:
I have an almost complete run of the Marvel comics, missing a few of the earliest ones, as I didn't even know it existed until issue 7. I liked the basis of the Dreamwave run, not everything mind you, but I found them enjoyable. However I have tried the IDW comics on and off a few times, but I just can't get into them, a few one i read and loved (spotlight Kup) and I like many of the bits with the Lost Light, but other aspects I just can't stand, like Prime jumping back and forth to being Orion, and (prepares for the hate) while I know a number of people are super excited about the CW Ultra Magnus that is coming out, I hate the direction they went with the whole "Magnus died eons ago, others have taken his place" It worked for the Dread Pirate Roberts, It's expected every now and then with Batman (and other DC characters), It was plot twist I saw coming a mile away and killed an otherwise enjoyable read in John Byrne's Next Men Prequel 2112. But it seems (to me atleast) to be the best example of IDW recrafting classic characters without a shred of connection to the original concepts created for them, but I digress.

What works or exists in your personal collections or head-canon is a matter of works for you. Personally I can see Alpha Bravo, Rook and Off-Road as basically G1 because they have been introduced standing beside existing G1 characters. I don't see IDW stories as being G1 because they push to far beyond the boundaries of story definition from either the a) the original show, b) the Marvel run of comics or c) the bios written for the original Tech Specs. But that is just what works for me, and I'll respect anyone elses views on what works for them as long as they respect mine.

Wow, I'm impressed with Air Raid. Real nice detail. Though I have to agree with whoever was saying Alpha Bravo doesn't fit. Jets were a theme. I always imagined Aerialbot flying together fast. Even when they arrived as reinforcements in Starscream's ghost g1 episode ,they were elegant and militaristic. Adding a helicopter ruins the coherence IMO. Not just G1 purity, but style wise. A helicopter is not sleek as a jet. The mold is perfect though for Blades.

I have no idea who I'm getting. It'll probably be Menasor. But Superion, Defensor, and Devastator all look awesome.

Toy-wise, it was for funsies. Not only can you combine 5 smaller robots into a bigger robot, but you can switch around the limbs and make new combinations! With a kid's imagination, this can make for some great playtime. I don't know that they ever talked about it much in the fiction. There was the Scramble City Japanese special, of course, and when RID '01 rolled around the different components of Ruination could switch for different combat configurations, but it's always been mainly about play value.

Thanks to Genetic from the TFND we have in hand pics of another Wave 2 Combiner Wars Deluxe figure, Breakdown. This wave appears to be currently hitting parts of Asia, and is estimated to arrive on our shores sometime in March. Breakdown can transform from robot, to car, to arm, and to a leg for Combiner Wars Motormaster to create Menasor. That's some resume! Check out the bio, and keep scrolling for the pics!

Breakdown is always worried he is being watched. The Decepticons take full advantage of his need to remain unseen, and mobilize him as a scout. Paranoia comes in handy when you're trying to avoid detection.

Breakdown is looking good. Not as good as Drag Strip, but still good. The backpack is a bit strange, but a) I don't plan to pose him with his back facing; and b) I get that this line has to make little sacrifices in terms of kibble or transforming intracacy because of them being combiners. Simple and fun. I also like the detailing on his chest to make the connector port look less obvious.

As a brand new guy, I'd like to say thank you guys for making this an enjoyable site to read and collect news from. I love transformers and all they can do a great deal.

Since this is dealing with combiner wars, I'd first like to say I love this line and the ideas behind it. Combiners are so awesome and I want some really good ones for my collection. I really like the legends class 6th figure since it adds some really cool little combiner upgrades so to speak. I have RotF Devastator, BH Abominus and FoC Ruination, and while I love all 3 of them, these guys are far and away better than any combiner I've dealt with.

I really like that Superion and think it is brilliantly engineered. I really like Alpha Bravo too: I like some change-up and mix-up, and He is a brilliant piece of engineering. With Silverbolt coming next week, I'll have the first wave deluxes and him and can finally make Superion + Dragstrip!

Menasor looks good, though not at good as Silverbolt.
Devastator looks amazing, and he is on my Christmas list. I don't mind the sacrifices made to the individual bots: Swerve is my fav toy cause I can convert him in 5 seconds either way, and it looks like I can do that with these guys too.
Defensor is frikkin' amazing and is my Favorite looking combiner to date.

Here's to hoping Bruticus and Computron come along!

P.S. I like this fan built combiner idea. I have voted on everything and I am very excited. With the Defensor retools we saw, I have even higher hopes for the Final Character. I loved the first fan-built character, and Windblade now sits on my desk in my dorm room in college. I look forward to the fan combiner she can command.

One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others,
By the time I finish my song?

Warning, opinions ahead!
I really hope the Hasbro Slingshot rumors aren't a hoax, or I'll be so mad. Alla yalls can have your own opinions or whatever, that's fine, you're entitled to them, but to me no one could fill my favorite Aerialbot's shoes, let alone some predeco of Blades and or Vortex.

AB on his own, whatever, he's a'ight, I suppose, but as an Aerialbot, nope, nuh uh, nananana, I can't hear you, the part of ten year old me that still lives on deep down inside just ain't havin it, no matter what sort of madness is apparently at play in today's comics.

end opinions!

(I cannot wait to get home and check this out...)

I was wondering why he had a joint there. Guess it's just a extra like landing gear that the toy doesn't really need, but adds detail.

Thanks Va'al. No surprise there, we'll just agree to disagree.

Sure! You're obviously clearly wrong, but that goes without saying. [-(

Once I ran an Anime festival with over 6,000 attendees. Now... not so much.
