We were all left in suspense for a few weeks wondering if Bulkhead was alive or dead ;) (well we knew better but you get the idea) . I'm sure there is another batch of 7 episodes coming to round out this season.
While it wasn't really "epic", not every TV show's season finale needs to be. That two-parter did, however, pretty much close the book on every major plot point that had been raised since the show's beginning. The series' primary villain Steeljaw was defeated for good, practically every known major criminal character was apprehended at last, the Alchemor itself was taken back to Cybertron, and Bumblebee's mission had been pretty much completely fulfilled, with the only things left unresolved being smaller issues that could have been left unresolved as a means to say "the story is over for us, but life will go on for these characters," which is a very common way for a TV show to end (even the G1 cartoon went out that way). The show could have very well ended right then and there, with that two-parter having so much finality to it that it could have worked as a series finale rather than just a season finale.

o.supreme wrote:I've heard some speculate these 6 episode are the "TV Movie" that was mentioned earlier this year. I have 2 issues with this. 1 6 episodes is too long for a "movie". Thus some are arguing it has now been changed to a "TV Event" not a movie, which would disappoint me somewhat. If that is the case, still I know back in 2004, CN used to run TF Energon in huge chunks particularly on Friday late afternoons or Saturday early afternoons (4 episodes here, 6 episodes there etc... which was a clear sign CN did not give a (expletive here) about Energon. I hope this is not the case, and we are treated to a full and complete season 2, AND a telefilm in the vein of Predacons Rising (either between s2 & s3 or after season 3)
The "tv movie" thing comes from something Cartoon Network Australia once said online about season 2 containing 16 episodes and a movie (or 19 episodes total), which tells me that maybe the last three of these 6 episodes will be of a serialized format to let them being aired together on the American Cartoon Network as a single feature presentation.

william-james88 wrote:I dont know if you watched them but they really dont feel at all like a tv movie. they dont connect to eachother in a "to be coninued way" and they instead each have their own climax and resolve at the end. At least the ones I watched. They feel as episodic as the usual.
The most recent one (the fourth one) ended on a cliffhanger, so it could be Part 1 of a three-parter that could be aired as a movie.

That was done to give adult collectors a chance to buy the Takara retooled Battle Grimlock mold. It's not like it's even colored show-accurately or anything (Takara's original version is, though). Kids certainly aren't the market for that set.

Watched "Minicon Madness" earlier, and boy was it great. Not only did we see Starscream and the Predacons in their Prime models (albeit, in artwork flashback much like most Prime flashback sequences) and get explanation on Starscream's survival, but also more solid backstory for the minicons and continuation of the well-paced plot development which episodes before "Mighty Big Trouble" for the most part lacked. Overall, my only complaint is that Constance Zimmer's performance is a bit.....off here. Seems like they did her lines in only one go and didn't do re-takes, 'cause there are a few sentences that seem like she either didn't understand the context or just clumsily delivered.

Otherwise, good f**king game on this episode's behalf.

Absolute continuity overload here. I'm almost surprised they actually used TFP Starscream's design in the flashback and it was a treat to see... though it does seem a bit of a cop-out or handwave to just say "yeah the predacons just kinda died". Extinction and **** yay. Guess that IDW RiD comic's non-canon
Also, I've always found the two shows' tones and styles to be at complete ends of each other and... boy is it really evident here. Like, it's just really hard to imagine these colourful mini-cons you can buy in stores now kids for only 6.99 being grown in Darkmount. Just felt... really wrong. I couldn't imagine it happening in TFP at all.
And why didn't Optimus bring Windblade and Ratchet along? Or... anyone along, really, considering the threat described to him? And don't bother explaining how things went back on Cybertron that's cool.
Anyway, positives.
They actually called it a Powerlink. That's nice. I like that. Good reference/10
And... "going back to your old style"? I think that's the most direct reference they've ever made to WfC/FoC lmao.

Either way pretty nice episode. Felt a little disappointing though... I don't know why. I just came away from it a little empty even though the events of it were pretty good.

YouTube version of the episode - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTIRkrCw-w8

Bumblebee referred to Starscream's new form as his "old body style", suggesting that Starscream used to have a look similar to this one before he had his Prime body. Nice to finally see some direct acknowledgement of the video games in this cartoon.

Also, the flashback that showed how Starscream survived the Predacons revealed that he did so by using advanced weaponry hidden within Darkmount to kill at least Darksteel and Skylynx. As it was only those two who were seen in the flashback, there's still a chance that Predaking remains alive.

Great episode! Loved the flashback & explanations in traditional TF Prime styling. Though...you'll notice only Darksteel & Sky Lynx were shown chasing Starscream. Predaking was not shown, I'm thinking he's still alive somewhere out there. I honestly don't care if the comic is canon or not, it was pretty inconsequential, but perhaps Predakings appearance in it was taken into consideration somewhat. Anyway, cant wait to see more next week. 2 Great Episodes in a row, though its only temporary, it's nice to see Transformers episodes that satisfy my sense of story telling and maturity.

Also it seems quite apparent that Starscream knows the location of Megatron, or at least how to find him. he's barely been mentioned since he declared the Decepticons are no more, which clearly very few got the memo on that, or cared to listen to. It will be interesting to see what Megatron has been up to as well if he is ever featured in this series.

Great episode this week (Minicon Madness)

quite a few TF Prime references in this one!....we got one of Starscreams henchmen who appears to be an Insecticon(tf prime) then Scream has a flashback to Darkmount(in which he offed Darksteel & Skylynx! although there's a lot of speculation going around that Predaking maybe alive still? so maybe he'll turn up at some point in the show? well we did get Soundwave turning up! even if for only one episode), & Scream is piloting the Nemesis(tf prime) ok i have a crazy idea...we know from TF Prime that in one episode, the Nemesis gained sentience due to an infusion of dark energon, & at the time...a lot of us speculated that is the Nemesis really Trypticon? + we know from one of the videogames...that Trypticon was turned into the Nemesis! so....does this now mean that Trypticon(Nemesis) is now on the show?(& i would love a toy of it if it ever transformed ;)^ ). Other goodies....we briefly saw Aerobolt attach to Prime to give us Power Surge Prime....yaaaay  hopefully we'll see more of that, we also saw one of the minicons turning into a weapon then flying into Strongarms hand, where it powersurged & gave us Power Surge Strongarm (weird how we're getting the Power Surge toys first then that feature appears on the show? i would've half expected it the other way around). anywhoo...a great episode ;)

That isn't the Nemesis. Its design is based on the Nemesis's cartoon model, but the ship itself is much more simplified and far smaller than the Nemesis itself was.

... come to think of it, what did happen to the Nemesis after Predacons Rising?

Then again you could say the same thing about a lot of loose threads after TFP ended.

look! maybe it isn't Trypticon! who the hell knows? but the ship that Scream is flying could always speak...if ever infused by dark energon....like the Nemesis did. it's just that Sabr has taken all the fun out of speculating about it :-x

You know what I love about Starscream's Flashback? He didn't Off the Predacons, so much as he did Bumble his way to victory. He spins this tale of bravery, and every panel of the Flashback he's screaming and cowering and accidentyally sets off the Security. Classic Screamer.

What's more is that the fate of Darksteel and Skylynx is drawn vague enough that Starscream could have even exaggerated about the two of them being killed by the weaponry, with them instead having simply been warded off and Starscream just believing that they died.

The latest episode really makes me think that these 6 episodes were indeed planned from way way back. Its all about the powerizer gimmick which is what the entire toyline is sub branded as with a giant power surge (a term used on the show) Prime as the centre piece. That toy (and toyline) must have been planned at least 2 years ago and they would have media support through the show (which also takes quite a while to do) so these episodes do feel like they were always going to happen.

^ exactly. These are Not a "Special TV Event", Not a "TV Movie"...Just more episodes of season two, nothing more (although they are some really good episodes). I'm sure there is another batch of seven that will air after this to fill out the season, and Season three will start as planned, probably in Spring 2017.

The only question I have now is...what is the "Movie" that was talked about some months ago? Perhaps it will occur as a bridge between S2 & S3? or perhaps after S3 and act as an addendum to the show, (as in the case of Predacons Rising)?

Holy sh**, was that episode kick-ass. Starscream went ape and looked badass doing so. I was also happy to see that he wasn't defeated too easily, with the Autobots having to go through four or five scarcely-related plans to stop him. We also confirmed my suspicions that Optimus hadn't made it back to Cybertron when Bumblebee called, therefore the Cybertron story is still at play. I'm not sure how crucial this six-part special was to the overall plot, but for what it is at the moment, it was certainly a thrill. Seeing Starscream again was amazing, and I actually did enjoy Sideswipe's development here. Even it did start out kind of slow and bumpy, these episodes were fun and well put-together overall. Now, two questions: Who are Optimus' "old friends", and where the f**k do these episodes belong in between the seasons?

Sabrblade wrote:And now the status quo is back to being exactly the same as it was when "Decepticon Island" ended, as though the past six episodes never happened.

Except now Sideswipe's relationship with the minicons progressed to them switching partners, apparently. However, I'm sure they wanted to do that on "Decepticon Island" given the plot of "Graduation Exercises", but had to write these episodes to promote the toyline. Even still, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Starscream.

Re: The Official Transformers: Robots In Disguise (Animated Series) Thread

Thoughts on the Weaponizer Event and the Robots in Disguise series as a whole:
The Weaponizer mini-cons seemed like a step in the right direction. Mini-cons that looked like something and not just disks, balls or 'torpedoes' . The eagles look like eagles, the snozzberries tasted like snozzberries.

But they waste too much of the episode on filler material and not enough developing the new characters. It makes their arc feel rushed and unsatisfying. Like the Decepticons earlier in the series, the Scavengers and the Bounty Hunters look too interesting to just be Vehicon goons, but it is never realized. But never fear, we got Bumblebee in leg warmers and lets shoehorn in the Ark.

Starscream's involvement in the event is a little lopsided. On the one hand, as Bee has risen from scout/'the kid' to team leader, Starscream is a more natural adversary than Megatronus or the Troika or Steeljaw. But I never once felt worried for our team because Starscream was on the scene. Bee taunts him over his inevitable failure and its true. When Soundwave popped up a few episodes back, that was nail biting because Soundwave is a threat Starscream is not.

Overall, RiD never got its act together constantly shifting what it wanted to be. It wanted to be a Decepticon of the week, no now it wants to be team builder, no how about mystic quest, no no I got it a Decepticon of the week with their sidekick minicons and now this latest gimmick.

I know, there are talking about a real season 3, but with another movie coming out which is sure to do less business than their love letter to China I think this the unofficial end of the series and I'm fine with that.

Anyone got a link? I mean I'm sure it'll be Optimus and Starscream using the 7 chaose emeralds mini-cons to sell their new toys power up before going back to the status quo Cybertron, but I need to see how this turns out.

Granted, Soundwave is factually more competent than Starscream, even in Prime. Such portrayal therefore is accurate. However, to your contrast, I did feel like once Starscream showed up, things became a lot more serious than when the focus was on the bumbling scavengers and the filler adventures. He took charge of the show all the way until the end, and like I said before, the Autobots had to come up with quite a few different plans just to remotely slow him down, then two more to finally stop him. Therefore, Starscream was still a huge threat in the confines of this six-parter.

I do agree that the first half was quite slow and jagged, though.
