It didn't come across as a joke to me. It sounded at first like you thought I was complaining about the design being "generic" and tried to ease said "complaint" by pointing out how it's at least a new figure. But now that I see it was a joke, I... don't find the humor in it.

It just seems to have derailed the original purpose of trying to figure out what Godbomber's Headmaster is based on.

Sorry about that I guess my humor just doesn't translate on the net that well I guess mostly because it's missing the tone I would normally use if I was saying that joke to a person in real life.


But hey I might have a lead on the original source of the titan master.



Power master Optimus was originally supposed to be a head master and Roller would become his head the Roller robot mode looks a bit similar to God Bomber's head master here.

A Stretch probably but it's a guess.

Double Powermaster Overlord, one of his powermasters was female and the other male.

Godmaster, you mean. Powermasters involve a binary-bond between a living Transformer and a human or Nebulan, with the latter acting like a living battery to provide extra power to their larger partner. Godmasters are humans who literally become Transformers via alien magical/technological means that bring about the ultimate super robot lifeforms through the perfect fusion of a human and a lifeless Transformer body.

Well, it's that time of the month, I got the just released Legends Chromedome and Highbrow. Pictures really don't do these figures justice, the change in color shading really makes them look more like the original toys. I have to admit, that with Highbrow it took me a few minutes to realize the new face. I've gone back and forth, but as of this writing, Highbrow has to be my favorite.

Just realized something: Ginrai is priced a little more than Takara Tomy's usual Leader class and Godbomber is priced little lower so their prices together evens out to twice that of other leader figures. Makes some sense.

Just received Chromedome, Highbrow and Wipe.

Chromedome? Amazing! Guys, he ain't creepy looking on hand. Trust me.

Highbrow? Arrgh! D@mn neck clamps are lose. Might need to go via the hairdryer route to soften the clamp.

Wipe.........omigosh wtfraaaaaaaak! Design wise amazing! Choice of materials for the bat head and wings are wtf! We gonna be getting rubber rot in a few months! Original Wipe has tough as nails wings aside from the weird reversed tail.

And the manga, who's that kawai gal in Highbrow's story anyway?

Speaking of which, given how the recent manga backstories for UW and TL came out without mucking up the JP TF universe, I have some speculations and questions on Ginrai.

Setting:

Most probably between Masterforce and Victory. But in Masterforce, Ginrai armor/body developed sentience.

Now that they are Headmasters, it seems that he too was affected by Scorponok's blackhole/ball bomb.

What is weird is that, assuming all the 'bots underwent the HM process to save their brain module/ part, Ginrai, the now sentient machine has fleshy parts.

Is it possible that it wasn't just developing sentience but actually developed a "synthoid" homonculi from which we will see in the upcoming toy?

And somewhere along the road, there will be an incident wherein Godbomber will be permanently fused to him as Godginrai leading to the chain of events in how we see him later in Victory where as a sword wielding Godginrai captain of space sector ###3 together with Starsaber.

That is plausible. It's the felshie bits of the Headmaster that really stand out in this new(?) Ginrai.

Speaking of Overlord, I've always thought that, given that he's literally half-male and half-female (by virtue of the Godmasters that pilot him) an Overlord toy done so that the robot mode is split down the middle between male and female (ala Mazinger Z's Baron Ashura), with the female half forming the jet and the male half forming the tank, would make for an awesome looking toy. Shame it'd probably be a nightmare to engineer, and no 3P company would do it due to no source material doing it like that.

(Note to self: Start writing Transformers comics with an androgynous Overlord so 3Ps have an excuse to use the design.)

Man, I can't wait to see what the bio and manga for that new Lio Convoy translate out to say. With how beholden to established fiction Sakamoto is, I wonder if he'll either make it be the JG1 cartoon universe Lio Convoy and also take into account Prime Leo Prime's bio that also painted that toy as JG1 Lio Convoy... or if Sakamoto will just make it be the native Legends Universe counterpart of Lio Convoy having undergone Transformer sickness (and... the Headmaster process, for some reason).

Really pushing it/squeezing the max out of shared base parts by Hb/Takara. Brainstorm from the looks of the TR images will almost be a near carbon copy aside from the wing parts to Blurr once he come this December..

Could it be one head with a mix of of both Mega/Giga? Since they died for real at the end of masterforce, will this headmaster be like a "Berg Katse"? Shifting both man/woman persona like a split personality?

I have an idea for what they could do for Overlord's Headmaster. Since Giga and Mega died near the end of Masterforce, maybe the Headmaster could be their never-before-seen son, newly-created by Sakamoto just for this occasion to carry on his parents' legacy, just like how Fun Pub had created Olin Zarak, son of Lord Zarak, to be the Headmaster of BotCon 2014 Scorponok.

And the new new Overlord would be a separate entity from the original, allowing the original to remain visually unchanged for his later appearances in Victory (much like God Ginrai).

Well, at least until we see the new Takara headmaster. If he's painted with fleshy parts, Saberblade's hypothesis is plausible. If this is a straight mold from Skyshadow then Kurona's is most fitting.

My idea was to prevent the new toy from needing to be the fully robotic one since the toy will most likely have some physical differences from how Overlord looked in the cartoons, and we know that the fully robotic one keeps his Masterforce cartoon look for his brief appearances in Victory.

So if the new Legends version was a separate entity, that would allow the fully robotic one to not need to undergo a body change that he'd have to switch back out of for pre-established continuity's sake.

In Blurr's bio, Rodimus Convoy is now a micromaster. Yet we are going to be treated with a headmaster version of him eventually. Yet Starconvoy hasn't returned yet with him being a micromaster again. So it is highly possible, his headmaster form is just transitional.
