Oh wow... Classics Sideswipe and Octane look fantastic. Would've liked a little more differentiation with Sunstreaker, but can't really complain.

And, as many have pointed out, the Soundwave-as-axe-hero gets the lulz!

So i'm confused.

People bitched and whined about the ugly heads and general bad shape of the movie toys.

Yet nearly everyone seems to be excited about the dis-proportioned animated toys? :???:

Sorry, but I like my TF's to be aesthetically pleasing, like the new Classics. Animated is far from aethetically pleasing to me.

These new Animated toys are smooooth. I think what a lot of people disliked about the idea of the Movie bots was how jagged they were. They seemed like they were made up of tiny shards of a shattered alt mode.
Sure, the toys didn't turn out like that, but that's part of the problem. The movie toys don't match the movie itself very well. Sure, they try to match the alt and bot modes, but the transformations are nothing like they are in the movie.

With Animated, the toys actually seem to match the animation very well.

Wow - I love seeing new figures!

Movie line - I think Landmine and Ininerator look brilliant and I'll be buying those, however Evac is the ugliest repaint... maybe ever?
And how 'bout the '08 BB repaint, damn that's lazy.

Classics 2.0 - Love the look of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, the fact that Sideswipe a retool and not just a red ersion means I'll get both.

Octaine look excellent, can't wait to see pics of the real thing... a shame Blitzwing isn't getting the classics treatment.

Animated - Eww :? They are not my cup of tea, and Starscreams huge chin, WTF?

I don't like their shiny, rubbery look either.

Maybe so, but I still find the dis-proportioned look un-aesthetically pleasing.

Once I see them in the shops however, my mind may change. But after seeing these pics and the video, my expectations for this new cartoon are still very low.

Weapon: Dual Impact Maces
Sunstreaker and Sideswipe resemble Cybertron Crosswise/Smokescreen in alt mode.

Either way, hooray for classics 2.0 and the new movie figures! I'm not so excited about the animated figures but the show looks cool.

Weapon: Double-Barreled, Armor-Piercing Particle Beam Cann...
Not digging Landmine, Stockade, Evac (looks awful), Nightwatch Prime, nor Incinerator. Cliffy looks good (safe for the head) but I don't think I'll want to buy that mould twice (even though it looks great). G1 Voyager Prime looks fantastic but I hate the robot mode chest. Leader Brawl shouldn't have the blue.

I can't wait for more G1 Robot Heroes, and I hope the Beast Wars ones aren't too bad.

Swipes and Sunny look great. A little too similar, but I love how Swipe's got his rocket and Sun's got his chrome backpack. Holy crap, Octane's never looked better! I just hope the plane and truck modes don't conflict like they do on Astrotrain, especially since they're different colours. I hope they look good in plastic!

As for the Animated, I don't like either of the Primes, nor Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Prowl, Ratchet, the Dinobots, what I assume to be Megatron, BruceCampbellscream (or is that Thundercracker?), Lugnut, Lockdown, Blackarachnia (major WTF), nor Soundwave (sweet Raptor Jesus, NO). Blitzwing shows promise, though I'd rather they make a Classic of him (he turns into a HISS tank??). Overall, this 'Animated' line looks terrible.

I look forward to seeing Soundwave rock out on his flying V guitar :D - dumb pimped out SUV alt mode though, what is he ment to be a drug dealer or a rapstar or something?

I just spotted lugnut's toy design, I like that one - the retro bomber style cockpit windows look nice - again, reminiscent of Advance Wars.

Movie G1 Prime: Yes, yes, yes, yes hell yes!!! That thing is beautiful & looks so much better than the flame design.

Animated: interesting....some are okay, some aren't too great. Character development might change my mind on a few.

Love Megatron's arm cannon. BAY TAKE NOTE!!! ARM CANNON = BADASS.

Classics look pretty spiffy, too.

Man I sure hope I have more disposable income by next year. All these bills I have right now are getting me behind on my collecting.......

Octane is the most badass figure of all of them. His Transformation is unfathomable, however I have a sneaking suspicion that his plane mode is going to lack. Notice they showed us a prototype of the truck mode, a drawing of the robot mode, and a stock photo of a jet. If they pull him off nearly as well as Astrotrain, I'll be sold, though. The truck mode looks sweet and the robot mode ungodly.

My only gripe is that we have to wait until the end of next year for more Classics. Hasbro needs to get on the ball and make these yearly instead of once every two years, or make more than a handful when they do make them.

I love everything except the crappy photography.

The Best:
-Classics(ofcourse), but would have liked to see more than the same stuff at BotCon.
-Dinobots
-Blitzwing!
-Soundwave. The guitar is so funny. I wonder if he'll use that axe as an axe. :P

The Worst:
-Cliffjumper. While I do like it, I've been think about this for the past few days, and I would have liked to see the colors reversed. Black with red stripes. A little teal on the bot. Like an evil Nemesis Bumblebee. Hey, he's a spy. And you saw how fast he changed his alt mode in the mode. So why not change his colors and go undercover as a Decepticon?
-Evac. Bad colors. Change the orange to red and drop the blue. Then he's be wicked.
-Movie Primes repaints. While I like the G1 voyager repaint, I already have the robo-vision one and I don't like the mold that much. I want to get Leader Prime, but if that Night Attack one is an exclusive, I'll by passing him completely until another repaint comes along.
-Starscream. While he looks great, the blue on him doesn't leave much room for a Thundercracker repaint. Just like how Takara screwed us over with MP Screamers blue color scheme.
-Everything else. While I do like everything else, most of it looks pass-able.

the classics toys are definitive for sure, genuine awesome updates for kids and fans.

The animation toys, well to my mind they look cool on their own merits and thats what is important. They remind me of that 1980's generic mecha model series 'magaro zamac' which were basic, clunky and colourful, rather like basic gundam stuff. They have character for sure, the upcoming movie toys whilst not dreadful (and the BB repaint in red is sweet) are pushed into the abyss by these.

I never watched the TF gen 1 cartoon as I was 'too old' back then, but from my virgin eyes the cartoon looks pretty darn good, and for a TF fan i am an old sod.

THink about it, since the release of the original cartoon shot the response has become more and more positive, if those rather dull (but still OK) movie toys are sold out!! then these should do really well come spring 2008.

Classics (all you want, pure TF), movie (real vehicles and new bot ideas) and animated (fun for the kids but cool anyway), anybody whos still a crying needs to seriously loosen up. 2008 is possibly the best year for TF since way back. So for all those fans using the argument from incredulity 'they cannot possibly make transforming toys that look like that' (because you simply cannot imagine it)eat you words and try to broaden your narrow minds.

that shiny look could be the testshot (or whatever they are called) mock up colours so not representative, i previous post said they were supposed to be very matt.
