Seibertron.com - The Ultimate Transformers Fansite
For the longest time, I (like a lot of Transfans out there) wanted a replica of the Ark. I also wanted an accurate replica of the mountain it crashed into (Mt St. Hillary according to the comics and whatnot, based on Mt. St. Helens), but neither of these were forthcoming from Hasbro nor Takara.
Finally, the decision was made to take matters into my own grubby little mitts...
After doing much research into both (my express thanks to TFWiki, Seibertron.com and to TFW2005 member Cascadia and her awesome site at Cascadia's Transformers Database )I was able to make a start!
First up: the Ark!
This is what I stared with: a few pieces of old wood glued together. The next several pics are over the course of a month and a half, as I used an xacto knife and sandpaper (along with wood glue and wood putty) to shape and fill this out:
And where the ship stands as of now:
As for Mt. St. Hillary, I'll have pics of that soon.
No school like old school, dude. That harkens back to the photos in Transformers: Vault that shows G1 Sideswipe's Diaclone prototype being carved out of wood. Excellent job.
