Hi folks!

We're looking into the possibility of setting up an area or areas in HMW specifically for players to enjoy roleplaying their characters. Note that this wouldn't be linked to the official SEIBERTRON.COM RPG but would just be a discussion area for people who enjoy a little RP.

If you're a HMW player but don't currently use our discussion forums, I'd like to invite you to have your say and vote in the poll here!

Hey guys,

Just letting you know that SEIBERTRON.com was down for some emergency maintenance. 2 tables had become corrupted in Heavy Metal War but I was able to save all of the data I believe with a little creative effort. Please let us know if you come across any errors while playing HMW. I apologize the site didn't come back sooner: I had to wait until my break to resolve what I was trying to fix during my lunch hour earlier. Thanks!

HMW: New missions and increased bonuses

You may have noticed that there are some new missions showing up in the lists... Credit for these goes to a number of HMW players who posted their ideas in the HMW discussion forum - thanks! I'm still looking to add more missions as we go along (how many times can the Decepticons blitz Vector Sigma or make a pass at that Nucleon anyway? ;-]) so if you have a great idea for a new mission, post it in the forum and there's a good chance you'll see it appear in the game!

And if you're paying attention, you'll also have noticed that the XP/€ bonuses for winning a mission have been increased in proportion to the mission level. Now you should have a good chance of making a decent return from missions even if you're not the top performer. If you just stick to the arena for all your battles, now might be a good time to give the missions a try - you're missing out on at least half the game if you don't!

The transition to the new server has gone incredibly faster than I had anticipated. Heavy Metal War, the addictive online Transformers game that you guys just can't seem to get enough of, is now back online after being down the past 48 hours. Please post any problems you experience in this thread so Glyph or I can take a look at the problem as fast as possible.

The new server should bring many years of fun to this website without having a hectic period of time like this past weekend with us getting slammed with traffic. The new server will be extremely fast compared to old one ... once and for all eliminating this site's server issues regardless of how much movie traffic we get over the next few years.

"I'd like to ask you all, as the players of the game, feel about how things are going so far.

"Are you happy with the direction we're going with things? Are you okay with the pace of things? Are you fine with waiting for the big 'relaunch' or are you getting impatient and want it now? Are you happy with the job Glyph is doing with the programming so far, or what would you like to see him do differently? The mods, admins and programmers... how are we all doing? If things stopped where they are and the version we have now became the 'final' version would you be okay with that, or are you just hanging out waiting for more stuff?

When you log into your HMW account today, you may notice a new [Options] link on your registry and other team pages. This page lets you set your default choice for either manual or automatic CR in the missions and arena, and also lets you customise your game interface slightly by showing or hiding the help text on many game pages. There are also more options planned for this page, so keep your eyes peeled!

I've also started a blog-style 'diary of a game' thread in the HMW discussion forum, to try to keep information and thoughts about HMW's development in one place where everyone can see it. Check it out!

HMW Missions: Auto or Manual as default?

As of today new functionality has been adeed to SIEBERTRON.com's online game Heavy Metal War. All players now have ability to choose between Manual and Automatic CR Chamber after missions!

As a result, some people have expressed that they would like to have the Automatic CR be the default choice for Missions as opposed to the Manual option.

Please place your preference in here for it to be known. I will not say whether or not it will make a difference but in the interest of good-will we should hear you all out.

Myself, I vote for Manual.

Update: After a day of posts we have noticed that the majority ruled on Automatic CR entry being the preferred choice. It has therefore been changed to what was clearly a more popular format.

During all of this Glyph has mentioned that he may be adding a feature allowing us to change the default to what we, individually, prefer in our profiles.
If this happens we will inform you.

That's right! For those who don't know, Heavy Metal War was born just over 3 years ago (actually about the 28th June?). So in celebration the alt-mode of ever bot and every con has temporarily transformed into a delicious little Anniversary cake, just like this one:

Well, after some trawling through the automated scripts, both missions and arena battles are working again!

I've also made changes on every single HMW page to bring the game in line with a change made to the rest of the site, which was why the layout on a lot of pages broke spectacularly while the game was down.

I believe both battles and layout should be fixed throughout the game now, but if you find any residual problems please let me know in the problem reporting thread in the HMW forum (and if you haven't used the forums yet... now's a great time to start!).
