But we also need to report on the lighter side and the more human side of the hobby, and remember it can never be taken too seriously, or in some cases it can...
I'm sure everyone remembers Scott Nall, who in 2001, officially had his name changed to 'Optimus Prime' to honor his childhood hero. He is a member of the armed forces who served in Iraq, and is a very devoted Transformers fan. A hero very worthy of the name. (Check out an interview of Mr. Optimus Prime at Botcon here.)
Well, O ptimus Prime now has his rival, Megatron to watch out for. July 2nd, Jason Michael Burrows went in front of a judge at a Seattle courthouse and legally changed his name to reflect his childhood hero, Megatron. Jason is as of Monday, legally named Jason 'Megatron' Burrows. See the article here at gizmodo.com.
So what will we see next from the fan base of this new summer blockbuster? Only time will tell when we see a Mrs. Starscream, and a Mr. Bee... Bumblebee.
That's the lighter side of the Transformers news! Now back to your regularly scheduled serious Transformers news. :)

Not sure I'd have my name changed to a canon TF name, one of my own characters maybe? At the moment I've got 3 to choose from I'd probaly just have my middle name changed.

Hey Optimus Prime is already in the real military, so why not!
However, I should let you know, I have a friend from Korea named Kingston, and his Dad had it changes to Jimmy way back when.
However, before the forms were sent to court, we did put StarScream Baker(a tookers joke) as a middle name, hence making his name Jimmy StarScream Baker Victolee "The Royaly".
So the idea may not be to origional anymore.

Blozor wrote:"Bee" is already a last name. For instance Samantha Bee who does investigative reporting for The Daily Show. I'm sure a husband or father of hers would already be "Mr. Bee."
Sure, but C'mon, is anyone's first name Bumble? And I was going for a little Bond, James Bond reference there...
Sorry.

I believe that is him... I thought he was a member here. Check the profile, and see what it says.
EDIT: Profile says he was in IRAQ, and that was the group affiliation he mentioned in the Botcon interview, I'd say it is!!

Yes, it's his right to change his name to whatever he wants.
No, he's not harming anyone by doing it.
However, it's just plain ridiculous and little obsessive, not to mention excessive.
If people were pissed at Bay before for ignoring the "true" fans, things like this certainly don't help their case.
If you were a big movie director and you had to legitimize such a outlandish, goofy concept and then you saw a news blurb like this...wouldn't you run for the hills? I know I would.
Just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should. =\

QFT.
Just like the guy who puts a Mazda RX-7 on a lift kit to go "muddin'".
It is just so wrong.

Well, it would be more acceptable than Megatron. Most people would just consider it a foreign name (albeit weird perhaps) but a name nonetheless.
