I've watched all the video reviews for everything in the Biklonz, Tobots and Carbots line of toys, and there is some really cool stuff in there.
So far I have two Tobots, and a third one I will grab soon.
I love combiners, so a budget priced combiner made of strong sturdy plastic and awesome designs really put Hasbro/Takara combiners to shame.
I have Tobot Deltatron (the phat bodybulder one) and Tobot Tritan (the tall skinny one).
The engineering /design on these toys is jusy amazing.
I don't have any of the single figure Tobots yet, but I will get some, likely next year, too many other things ahead of them on the wishlist.
Here is Tobot Deltatron next to Metroplex. (combiner of 4 vehicles, yes 4, not 5 like Transformers)
I love big and chunky bots
I picked him up on ebay for a bargain price. He comes with a trailer thing that I have never used and sits in my big box of "not on display" toys and stupid accessories nobody over 5 uses for anything (well unless you are into customs or whatever)
Here is Tobot Tritan (combiner of 3 vehicles) next to my Sky Reign / Sky Racer CW toy and Omega behind them.
Here's Tobot Deltatron with MPP10 OS KO Prime and Cybertron Supreme Starscream. He's the same height and basic proportions as MPP10 Prime.
And here is my shoving Tobot Tritan onto that mess of toys and hoping he doesn't fall over just now (didn't have any photos of him at all until 5 mins ago) - so you can see for scale how tall he is, but much skinnier than Delta. (apologies to plush Batman who fell on the floor)
I don't have this guy yet, but he will be next, he is another Tobot Combiner (they are all vehicles with not bot modes, just vehicle to Gestalt)
Tobot Quatran / Quadrant (depending on translation) Combiner of 4 vehicles (Quad = 4)
It was hard to decide whether to get Quadrant or Deltatron first, who are the the best two Tobots according to poeple who like combiners that is.
The quality of the plastic is WAY better than Anything from Hasbro or Takara, you could give these toys to kids and they are not going to break easily, the hip joints and ratchets are really strong, the colours have a heroic look to them and overall I really LOVE these toys. I wish Has/Tak would learn something from their engineering, at it is nothing less than brilliant when you see how they go together.
Quadrant also comes in a nifty black and white color scheme. I'll probably end up buying both variants, I like them equally, although the first version has a little better "pop" to him with his colors.
I don't have any Biklonz, they are VERY expensive, but I do plan to get some eventually, along with some Carbots (korean toys), NOT the poopy Transformer KO's that are commonly called carbots, nothing to do with them.
TOBOT COMBINERS
PROS:
*Cheap toys (as in price, not quality)
*Easily available on ebay in original boxes with free shipping
*Strong durable plastic, stands up to being played with or transformed
*Great ratchets and joints
*Awesome engineering and design
*Cool for Sentai and Mecha fans
CONS:
*Naff looking faces
*No robot mode for Combiners, just vehicle to Gestalt
*While Quadrant and Delta are easy to stand with chunky moveable feet, TRITAN is a pig to stand up, he has stupid SKIS for feet for **** sake. So you gotta lean him on stuff. Best head of the three though!
The other toys in the line are the mini "Tobot Y / X etc" and I feel the mini ones are rubbish, but fine affordable toys for kids.
While the full size "Tobot X / Y / ****" line are decent toys, some look and play good, others not so much. The prices are all over the place, but many of them are Leader class size, and made of really good quality plasticm, while they have generic silly names and faces, and look like "my first tranformer" look to them, a kid friendly design, but at more adult collector price puts them in that odd in between place where they are too fugly for most adults, but too expensive for most kids.
I will be getting some of the regular stand along Tobot figures at some stage, perhaps 2 or 3 from the lines, as some of the later toys imrprove on the earlier designs. Overall I think its a great toyline for kids, and the oddball eccentric collector who likes weird stuff or big chunky bots like me.
I'm no fan of Sentai or Mecha in general, but Tobot, Biklonz and Carbot design is more towards that end of the scale, but less detailed. They have more in common with power rangers, Brave or voltron than transformers, in their overall deign and aesthetics, and yes outwardly they look NOTHING like those properties, but they have more in common with those modular toy designs than Transformers in that respect.
Or
6 months ago, I had not WTF Tobots were (saw them on ebay), being the obsessive compulsive I am, I wathced all of this dues Biklonz, Carbots, and Tobot videos.
Here's his excellent review of my fav, Tobot Deltatron
