What's the Deal with Tobot/Biklonz?

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

What's the Deal with Tobot/Biklonz?

Motto: "'Til All Are One!"

Every so often I come across Tobot or Biklonz figures on the 'Bay, and although they look neat enough, the prices being charged for them are way too high to justify a purchase. Seems like they could easily be charging half of the asking prices ($30+ for what looks like a Deluxe-sized figure, $0+ for a seemingly Voyager-sized figure). Does anybody have one of these, or does anyone know why they're so expensive? Are they made of some super-sturdy kind of plastic? Do they transform themselves? Are they carrying diamonds inside? For as cool-looking as they are, I can never bring myself to buy one.

Thanks,
Glarryg

They are like shelf warming here in TRU (SEA). Decent simple type designs. Kinda like sentai light.

Tobot/Biklonz, as well as the Giant Saver series of mecha, should be viewed as curiosities more than anything else.

Tobot/Biklonz and Giant Saver are from South Korea and China respectively, two countries that don't have that good of a track record outside of Asia with coming up with their own original designs (especially China is notorious, though KO'ing Super Sentai's Daizyuzin/MMPR Megazord for their own series was a step in the right direction IMVHO). Then suddenly come these two series, taking the West by surprise. Further surprising is that both series are past their first year, meaning they're enjoying success in their markets.

If I'm to trust reviewers, especially the Space Deleter and Biklonz toys are made of sturdy high quality plastic, better than what Hasbro and Bandai seem to be churning out (for Bandai, that's saying something!). Space Deleter's Saver mecha are the least gimmicky, having none aside from basic combination, but that's where the charm lays for some (Things get a bit messy with the third and final combo tho).

Put short, South Korea and China are aiming high now and it seems to pay off big time.

Baltmatrix has reviewed the whole 'saver' line (I think) and most of the biklonz, the dual wolf/tiger combiner is awesome

Online? Didn't realized that the scalpers are charging a pound of flesh for these. Thy're okay. Simple for kids.

Though Tomy's Hyper Blue Sonic Police series (that line is also targetted for kids) wipes 'em clean!

I think we have the Sonic Arrow, Sonic Breaker and Sonic Meteor to thank for that:

I wouldn't mind owning at least one Space Deleter mech, at least Solar Saver (the first, the names get confusing between sources, thanks to difficulties translating Chinese), but have yet to find a proper venue... and lack of funds doesn't help at all.

I got the Biklonz bite. In fact, I ordered and received the Cross-Attacker. This thing is HUGE and it have Cybertron quality plastics. The design is pure genius and it also have sounds.

Got this for only 30$ US + 15$US shipping to Canada because the box was open. A steal!

Image

The overall robot is quite big:

Image

and the beast modes are awesome and quite imposing. Here they are next to First Ed AoE Sliver Knight Optimus Prime.

Image

It's been so long since I've played with toys of that quality. Quite refreshing after all tha soft plastic Hasbro keep using. Also, the uniqueness of the mold and the impressive and original way these two combine. Here, have a video:

I also ordered Thunder Guardian. My 115$US with FREE shipping have been accepted at
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/191780240582?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT

Seem expensive, yes, but the thing will be HUGE! Just watch:
(Spoiler alret, it can also combine with Cross Attacker to be ridiculous.)

So, where these characters come from and why "Biklonz"? See the Korean original, S01E01 with English subs!

Anyone like me who feel a bit burne out by transformers but STILL want MORE transforming robots? Korea is the BEST place to look!

I've watched all the video reviews for everything in the Biklonz, Tobots and Carbots line of toys, and there is some really cool stuff in there.

So far I have two Tobots, and a third one I will grab soon.
I love combiners, so a budget priced combiner made of strong sturdy plastic and awesome designs really put Hasbro/Takara combiners to shame.

I have Tobot Deltatron (the phat bodybulder one) and Tobot Tritan (the tall skinny one).
The engineering /design on these toys is jusy amazing.
I don't have any of the single figure Tobots yet, but I will get some, likely next year, too many other things ahead of them on the wishlist.

Here is Tobot Deltatron next to Metroplex. (combiner of 4 vehicles, yes 4, not 5 like Transformers)

I love big and chunky bots

Image

I picked him up on ebay for a bargain price. He comes with a trailer thing that I have never used and sits in my big box of "not on display" toys and stupid accessories nobody over 5 uses for anything (well unless you are into customs or whatever)

Image

Here is Tobot Tritan (combiner of 3 vehicles) next to my Sky Reign / Sky Racer CW toy and Omega behind them.

Image

Here's Tobot Deltatron with MPP10 OS KO Prime and Cybertron Supreme Starscream. He's the same height and basic proportions as MPP10 Prime.

Image

And here is my shoving Tobot Tritan onto that mess of toys and hoping he doesn't fall over just now (didn't have any photos of him at all until 5 mins ago) - so you can see for scale how tall he is, but much skinnier than Delta. (apologies to plush Batman who fell on the floor)

Image

I don't have this guy yet, but he will be next, he is another Tobot Combiner (they are all vehicles with not bot modes, just vehicle to Gestalt)

Tobot Quatran / Quadrant (depending on translation) Combiner of 4 vehicles (Quad = 4)
Image

It was hard to decide whether to get Quadrant or Deltatron first, who are the the best two Tobots according to poeple who like combiners that is.
The quality of the plastic is WAY better than Anything from Hasbro or Takara, you could give these toys to kids and they are not going to break easily, the hip joints and ratchets are really strong, the colours have a heroic look to them and overall I really LOVE these toys. I wish Has/Tak would learn something from their engineering, at it is nothing less than brilliant when you see how they go together.

Quadrant also comes in a nifty black and white color scheme. I'll probably end up buying both variants, I like them equally, although the first version has a little better "pop" to him with his colors.

Image

I don't have any Biklonz, they are VERY expensive, but I do plan to get some eventually, along with some Carbots (korean toys), NOT the poopy Transformer KO's that are commonly called carbots, nothing to do with them.

TOBOT COMBINERS

PROS:
*Cheap toys (as in price, not quality)
*Easily available on ebay in original boxes with free shipping
*Strong durable plastic, stands up to being played with or transformed
*Great ratchets and joints
*Awesome engineering and design
*Cool for Sentai and Mecha fans

CONS:
*Naff looking faces
*No robot mode for Combiners, just vehicle to Gestalt
*While Quadrant and Delta are easy to stand with chunky moveable feet, TRITAN is a pig to stand up, he has stupid SKIS for feet for **** sake. So you gotta lean him on stuff. Best head of the three though!

The other toys in the line are the mini "Tobot Y / X etc" and I feel the mini ones are rubbish, but fine affordable toys for kids.

While the full size "Tobot X / Y / ****" line are decent toys, some look and play good, others not so much. The prices are all over the place, but many of them are Leader class size, and made of really good quality plasticm, while they have generic silly names and faces, and look like "my first tranformer" look to them, a kid friendly design, but at more adult collector price puts them in that odd in between place where they are too fugly for most adults, but too expensive for most kids.

I will be getting some of the regular stand along Tobot figures at some stage, perhaps 2 or 3 from the lines, as some of the later toys imrprove on the earlier designs. Overall I think its a great toyline for kids, and the oddball eccentric collector who likes weird stuff or big chunky bots like me.

I'm no fan of Sentai or Mecha in general, but Tobot, Biklonz and Carbot design is more towards that end of the scale, but less detailed. They have more in common with power rangers, Brave or voltron than transformers, in their overall deign and aesthetics, and yes outwardly they look NOTHING like those properties, but they have more in common with those modular toy designs than Transformers in that respect.
Or

6 months ago, I had not WTF Tobots were (saw them on ebay), being the obsessive compulsive I am, I wathced all of this dues Biklonz, Carbots, and Tobot videos.
Here's his excellent review of my fav, Tobot Deltatron

https://www.youtube.com/watch?https://w ... ToyReviews

*sorry I don't know how to embed youtube vids on this forum. Tried a bunch of stuff didn't work. Ready to pull my hair out. Don't know why every message board has to use a diff method and every tutorial tells you something different. ARGH!!!

Giant Saver Space Deleter Solar Saver is all kinds of awesome.

Bought this guy a couple months back and he looks brilliant on my bookshelf. Such a well designed toy, big chunkimus proportions that I love (real 80s feel to him) and strong strong strong plastic, yes better than any of the mainlines toys that we all love and buy.

Image

Because of the cool Sentai / Megazord/ Brave inspired modular design, it took me a total of 30 seconds to pull him apart and put him back together for this photo. And he combines with two other big bots, like the Brave series, giving him a super mode.

Image

He also combines with two other bots, here is one I'll be picking up next month.

Yup, it's true that Biklonz have that Power Ranger feel to them. And because of that, it gave me some Power Rangers robot wants. Even when to spend 100$CAN for a brand new Legacy White Tigerzord!

Anyway, I thought about buying some tobots but I irinically find them to bee way more expeansive compared to Biklonz. Guess we found separate amazing deals! The other thing that made me chose Biklonz over Tobots are a feel of starting to be bored of conventional transforming motor vehicles. Piloted animals mechas feel very fresh.

It's also true that the plastic quality of these lines is a great callback to what we had in the Unicron Trilogy. I don't really like the cheap feels of modern TF but I put up with it, like a beaten spouse...

Also, to embed videos, just copy and paste the parts of the URL that come after the "v=" between the [youtube ] [ /youtube] brackets.

Like so:
https://www. youtube.com/ watch?v=SnsRHiCKXOA
You take only the SnsRHiCKXOA part.

Copy the SnsRHiCKXOA, highlight it with your mouse and click the "youtube" button above. It should be put between the [youtube ] [ /youtube] brackets instantly. It should do this without the spaces:
[youtube ] SnsRHiCKXOA [ /youtube]

And the final result:

Postby Batfan007 » Sun Jun 05, 2016 9:45 pm

Thanks, that's what I did and it didn't work. I'll give it another go next time.

I really dig the Biklonz. what is the cheapest you have seen them for?

For me in OZ, I've seen them on ebay, the full second combine they did (barbarian looking thing, not the bear one) is like $300 AU on ebay, way more than I want to spend on a combiner toy.

In contrast the Tobot Combiner go on average for around $100 AU each (plus postage), although I picked up Tobot Tritan (combiner of 3 cars) for $70 AU delivered from Korea on ebay.
If I could pay off that Biklonz combiner, I would, but instead I'll be getting the new Titan Fortress Maximus for around the same price when it comes out locally in the next month or so.

Here's Deltatron for $111 AU with free delivery
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOBOT-DELTAT ... Sw3ydVg8pl

Tritan Combiner for $80 AU with free delivery (that's $60 US)

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOBOT-TRITAN ... SwpDdVcaro

Quadrant / Quatran for $107 AU with free delivery ($79 US)

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOBOT-Quadra ... SwBahVeDaG

My Biklonz X-Attacker was around 50-ish $CAN because it was used. Here's the cheapest for now:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BIKLONZ-MEGA-BEA ... Sw3mpXOI9R

And here, my best offer of 115$US have been accepted for Thunder Guardian, and it's with free shipping:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/191780240582?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT
He still have 8 in stock so you'll be able to offer 110$US then end up with a 115$US final offer like I did.

So far, the only things keeping anyone from buying these awesome, awesome figures are interest and/or budjet.
