I played the game for RoTF and wasn't impressed. Are the other games the same way? I recently checked out the PS2 game for the 1st movie, and it looked OK. Do the movie games all play the same?

Which system were you playing Revenge of the Fallen on?

The PS2 version of ROTF is a tediously repetitive brawler where transformation is just the "special attack." The PC/PS3/XBOX360 version is much more open environment, and transforming is basically a fancy way of "running."

But, yeah, most of the movie games have been pretty bad. They are games based on a movie based on a toy...that's got tie-in-itis written all over it.

The best games to stick with are Cyberton series and the PS2 Prelude to Energon.

ROTF for the PS3 was good enough, but you NEED to play it online, assuming the online isn't dead. It's hectic as hell with that gameplay, and extremely fun. DOTM was made by High Moon ans controls war for cybertron-y. I only played it once at a friends house...
I had the first one, and had fun with it, but heres my advice. Once it makes you play as Jazz, make a seperate save. He's the BEST character in the game and you only get to play him like, twice.
You also get to play as scorponok at a point, wich was ok, but the level itself pre mission was boring.

I've platinumed all of the Transformers games for PS3.
Transformers The Game
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Transformers Dark of the Moon
Transformers War for Cybertron
Transformers Fall of Cybertron

All of which were good games. The movie games were good to play but the online play wasn't very fascinating. I loved playing WFC and FOC a lot more. But now I've also got Transformers Rise of the Dark Spark and can't play it since my PS3 got the YLOD. :-x Not sure how good of a game it is since its supposed to be a cross of the Cybertron series and the movie series.

I played the 07 movie game and it was basically terrible. The RotF game was somewhat better, but still not worth the price of entry. I never tried anything after that one.

I can agree with you that the movie games weren't that great, but War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron were awesome games!

Ive played all the games on the main consoles back tot he Armarda game. The original movie game wasnt bad for a first try. ROTF was better but still meh with DOTM much better again, and actually quite fun to play. The FOC and WFC games are still way beyond any of them though, but ive yet to get my hands on the rise of the dark spark

I don't base my information from opinions of one website. I go off of what my friends thought of the games as well as myself. I've played every single Transformers game out there.. Transformers on the Commodore 64, Beast Wars on Playstation, Beast Wars Transmetals on Playstation and Nintendo 64 (my favorite was playing as Botcon Windrazor) , Transformers (Armada) on Playstation 2.. yeah that was fun fighting Tidal Wave, Transformers the game for PS2, PSP, AND PS3 (yeah I'm a fanatic), Transformers ROTF on PS3, Transformers DOTM on PS3, Transformers FOC, and Transformers WFC. I've loved playing every single game. The ROTF irritated me at first because NOBODY had the viral trophy. One of the game makers waited for about 6 months before jumping online and playing to release the virus so everyone else could get it. WFC and FOC were awesome games in my opinion.. much better than the movie games. Transformers ROTDS is still one I'm waiting to play.. I still think they are all good games.. just some are better than others...

You don't know what Metacritic is, then. See, when I talk about a Metacritic scores, in no stretch of the imagination is that "opinions from one website." It is, in fact, the collective opinions from every website.

So when I say the movie tie-ins got, at best, a 63/100, that means that, out of all reviews, it has an average score of 63. This being the page for it in question.

Maybe I need to rephrase myself.. I don't base my information from opinions of websites. I base my opinions off the users. It is the gamers that matter, not critics. If I go to metacritic the average user gives it 7.6 out of 10. If I go to IGN the average user gives it a 7.0 out of 10. If I go to Gamespot the average user gives it a 7.5 out of 10. I am a Transfan. This means I like the Transformers games no matter what platform they are on. The difference is that certain games are better than others. As consoles, engines, and processors get better, gameplay, pixelation, graphics, and interactivity increase with it. So instead of looking at the flashing lights and saying this game wasn't that good, you have to also look at the time spectrum. When the first Transformers game came out on Commodore 64, it was awesome to us gamers back then. Newbs who look at the game today would think its stupid, because they can't appreciate the game. I don't need numbers from a website to tell me if a game is good or not. I rely on other gamer friends that have my same tastes. They are reliable in explaining if they liked it or not and the reasons why they did. They don't just say, oh this isn't a good game because some website told me so. All transformers games have been good through the evolution of gaming. The movie games were a little dry vs games like Armada, FOC, and WFC which had cinematics, little cartoon clips to keep it interesting. Even Transformers Animated on DS, and Transformers Prime on Wii were good games. As time goes on, the games get better.

Thank you sir.

Anyways, after my first run through of rotds i have to say while it plays the same theres deffo something lacking, just that bit of polish and on xbox 1 its rather disapointing in reguards to grapics and smoothness (the sound has bad muffled issues with the talking) but its still a solid campaign for a TF game, it plays the same as WFC and FOC to a tee (even the spongy controls). Far from the best of the series, but its still a fun play through reguardless of what review sites say

You didn't click the link I posted earlier, did you? I mean, the fact that you didn't even know Metacritic had user reviews until I explained it to you, and now you're linking to a completely different one, with a different score from the one I listed. (Which has, since then, shot up to a 7.0)

That still doesn't change anything though, that critically, the movie tie-ins are "Meh" at best.

Actually I did know what metacritic was. I stated before that I could care less what "website(s)" rate a game. I am more interested in what my friends have to say about it as well as what I think of the game. If they don't have any input to the game, I refer to other gamers who play the game. Therefore I seek advice from other gamers and see what they rated a game. It seems you are sour towards the games and are therefore trying to condescend me in some fashion. Why you are doing this, I have no idea as I have never done or said anything to you in the likes before. Everybody has their own opinion about games. I was merely stating mine and where I seek advice. You listed a score from a website which I could care less about. I replied showing what the users scored the game as, which seems to make you recant in some manner. I didn't come here to debate scores or anything of the sort with the likes of you. I came to read others input and give my own opinions which you clearly have a discord for.

My point was the way you worded your initial point presented your opinion as if it were objective fact, when if fact general consensus is far less favorable. You just kind of blew it out of proportion.

Incidentally, you keep contradicting yourself. Possibly because you think "websites" are computer-generated or something, but every review, professional or otherwise, are written by gamers. So, literally speaking, in one sentence, you don't care how gamers rated the game. Then two sentences later, you admit that you do.

Moreover, no, I seriously doubt you knew what Metacritic was before I explained it to you, considering you keep acting as if the site lacks some aspect or another until I bring it up.

For heavens' sake, give it a rest.

To be fair Shadowman you do seem to be coming across a wee bit heavy handed. You are clearly someone who likes reading reviews, be it by gamers, game journos ect, yet there are many people that just dont listen to reviews at all.

and hey, i didnt know what metacritic was, and after having a browse i still dunna care, website (especially for video games) are always full of extremes one way or another. The general population aint mass TF fans, and if its a movie tie in its straight away gonna get slammed. The game isnt FOC but its deffinately better than a meh imho
