I'm confused why you guys seem excited about this one. It's unlike Takara to come out with repaints like this ... this seems more like something from Hasbro, or a multi-pack variant or something. It's also trying to be accurate to Springer's animation model in some respects, but then it's not in others.

I find this release super odd too. It's like Takara is doing as if this guy below never happened. It really sucks for those who paid a little extra the first time to get the takara version.

This release just straight up baffles me.

Like I said I'm still unsure about this one. On one hand I really like the green that They chose. It's more vibrant and personally I think it looks better. However I'm more than happy with my Hasbro version so I won't be getting this guy, especially with the pre-order prices I've seen.

The MSRP is actually cheaper than Takara's previous release of Springer, which is even more baffling. It went from 5450 yen to 5200 yen.

Eh I guess that's not that bad, maybe if I didn't already have a Springer I'd be more inclined to buy it. I do still love that green though.

Well that's a lot more of a change than the previous Takara version. It's nice but I feel it's just missing something from the chest (the animation model isn't green in the very front bit of the chest/hood). I'm happy with my Hasbro one though (well even moreso after I made the lil rocketpack, and I repainted all that ugly yellow plastic with a nice slightly orange-yellow I used for painting up my AoE Bumblebee too).

That Springer recolor is completely pointless. If Takara wanted to go for a G1 look, why not reshelling it completely and make this a MP?

Why do I feel like he's based on an obscure Sunbow animation error? He looks like one of those off model background characters that look like one of the regular characters. Without the yellow on his chest and some of the strange things they kept but could have fixed with paint like the shoulder stripes this is probably one of Takara Tomy's worst G1 repaint efforts.

I'm thinking they're only doing this in the first place because of MP Hot Rod, but maybe just a straight rerelease of the previous one would have been good enough.

Considering this mold was out 2-3 years ago, they already did a Springer with that mold, and now they are doing a different version based on the animation model, IDK what to make of this, other than I like my hasbro one and that one is kinda ugly looking, similar to Takara's Defensor

I'm digging this second try at Generations Springer by Takara. They KNOW they missed the mark last time. Everything looks right this time for a screen accurate paint mask, from the two tones of green down to the pale olive-green fists, thighs, and face. Hasbro's original release is still great for IDW Springer, but for people who want more G1 in their Classics/Universe/Generations figures, this is it.

Maybe TT heard a lot of requests for a re pressing of the mold. That or the lot is going to be sold to "China".

OK, I get it now. MP Hot Rod is being released in February, MP Ultra Magnus is being re-released in February, and this Springer is coming in February as well. Let's see if they announce CW/WU Cyclonus for February, too.

This thing looks about as good as Cloud Megatron, in which a mold that was obviously not meant to evoke the 1980's G1 version of the character is given a deco that is based on the 1980's G1 version of said character, making the end result look really awkward and off.

What's next, a silver painted version of the stealth bomber Megatron? >:oP

Am I really the only one digging this repaint? I don't get the "the G1 paint scheme doesn't fit the mold" complaints at all. Honestly, I think a lot of people just don't want to have to rebuy this figure and are justifying sticking with what they have. Not to say that what they have (so long as it's the Hasbro version) isn't good. It was great for the time, but this is just that much better for a "Classics/neoG1" Springer.
