When I bought the Takara exclusive Legendary Nemesis Prime, I learned that he was compatible with the Masterpiece MP-10 Optimus Prime trailer. So I wanted to complete my Nemesis by giving him a trailer.

MP-10 having a zillion repaints, having a loose trailer without the bot is easy enough. Especially the Year of the Horse Platinum Edition. It's all clear plastics and most people hate that trailer for reasons. However, it's precisely why it's in clear plastics that I found it to be the perfect trailer for Nemesis.

Image

Oh boy was that trailer expensive. Especially because of the pricey Tamiya spray paint and the special stickers. It was easy work but it took time. Disassembly, painting, waiting for things to dry, and waiting for the materials... In the end, it's a pretty amazing result:

Image

I used a base silver coat. Then I spray-gunned the teal stripe. Then the metallic black. Add the very, very expensive black flames reflective stickers (10$CAN each!). Those stickers are made for bike helmets and the like, but it was the perfect shape, look, and size for my project. So I had to pay the price.

After that, I bought faction symbols keychains. The symbols almost fall off the keychain by itself so it was easy to remove and screw on the trailer. This give a way more "premium" look than a normal tiny sticker.

Image

Image

Image

I don't think the YOTH edition of that Optimus come with the little Roller drone. Fortunately, the seller of my trailer included a Roller. So of course I repainted it too.

Image

Image

The machinery have been painted with special clear green paint to give them a unique look. Because the exterior have a base silver, painting the interior of the trailer in special clear red paint make it SHINE. Like delicious candy!

Image

Legendary Nemesis Prime can enjoy is spa treatment at the repair bay.

Image

Image

By the way, no customisation on the robot appart Decepticon stickers for his truck mode.

All in all, I'm very happy in how it turn out. I made that trailer evil and cool looking. A perfect fit for Legendary Nemesis Prime!

This looks EPIC! I love the trans-red trailer, in all it's cherry(?)-flavored glory. A really clever choice for making something unique. If anything I'd say it's too cool for the cab figure, but that's my bias against movie designs talking. :D

I think the trailer stripe and flames work amazingly well, although the symbol looks a bit wide - that said, I think you made the right call about using something more impactful than a sticker.

What was the clear red spray you used? Tamiya? I may have some new ideas now... :-$

All transparent paint is Tamiya. That paint is extremely expensive at 11$CAN the tiny 100ml can. But man, that paint is magical. As if the plastics itself is changing color!
I don't know the English word for it but for me, it's like the interior of the trailer is made out of delicious sucre d'orge. :P

As for the faction symbol, it's a bit big but I went with what I knew. Plus there was a hole behind, left by that old :BOT: . I had to cover it up.

Very good. :APPLAUSE:

Nowhere near your level but, I used to do very rough custom pieces long ago. I bought a couple of duplicate ToyBiz X-Men figures back in the early 90's for that reason. Iceman in particular, as he was essentially a blank mold for most applications.

In terms of Transformers the only attempt I made was Beast Wars Basic Rattrap. Bat Primal had suffered GPS and lost a screw connecting one of his arms to the body. I also had a duplicate Rattrap. That was missing the two parts of his gun. from inside the blister card. As they shared the same size ball joints. I took the better sculpted limbs of Bat Primal and attached them to Rattrap. Added a colour wash to the Beast Mode, gloves and boots. Original creation 'Overbite, The Wolverine' was born. Ironically, I missed that the name already existed in Transformers

Sure, it's unusual for me do do simple repaints, but I was inspired by Legendary Nemesis Prime.

My thing is mostly to frankenstein scraps together to make original characters. I have one in the "oven" for years now but I think I'm finally figuring out how to complete the damn thing. The previous idea was to make a spaceship, but I think it will be a giant beast instead.

It will take a while though.

BTW I want to see that beast you made, if you still have it. :-?

Figuring stuff out yourself is all part of the fun of custom work.

I remember I had an old Batman: TAS figure that had lost a lot of the "chin" paint. So I tinkered with him a little - removed the Bat ears, symbol and the rest of the face. Some carved lines and a little paint later, I had my first Mortal Kombat ninja. That one was a success.
On the flipside of that, taking the Punisher figure from Spider-Man: TAS and covering him in Tipp-Ex/Correctional Fluid, to make a Custom Iceman.. was not. It was still somehow sticky the last time I found him about ten years ago. Collecting a fair bit of dirt and fluff along the way

I have a friend that is really good at custom work and he's asked to see Overbite too. I believe I still have him. I'll have to try to dig him out at some point.

Most of the original characters I made when I was younger, I tried to make a custom figure for. Those I couldn't because of unique designs, such as Omega Magnus, Crosswind and Terrorcon. I wrote and drew many stories about instead.

Duuuuude, this came out fire!
Really nice work Kan.

Should rename yourself as KanDo Customs ,lol.
Nice work across the board.
Only question i have is if there was any clear coat used after completion to prevent rubbing and chipping?

Otherwise, keep up the great work sir! :CON:

BTW, sucre d'orge translates as Barley sugar, which is not something i was familiar with.

Barley sugar, of course! By the way, that stuff is delicious. It's been years since I bought some. I miss it.

I used a Tamiya clear coat but only for the teal stripe. The clear paint was on clear plastics directly so it won't chip. As if the paint FUSED with the plastic. The soft silver is water based. It's pretty effective and cover a lot. Plus the Tamiya black stick to it like a charm.

I played with the trailer a lot by opening it, closing it, and moving things around. So far, not a tiny paint flake. Not even sand grain sized. It's pretty amazing.

Oh, and I just added some :CON: to Nemesis's shoulder-pads. Not having any faction symbols in bot mode is a bit daff.

Those expensive paints and your careful application made it really worth the price! Beautiful result!

Thanks!

Tamiya spray are expensive but they cover so well!
An added difficulty is those paint cans are TOXIC. So I had to spraying front of the wide open door and the -20°c cold.

This is freaking awesome! I have an extra SG Prime tailer and I have wanted this Nemesis for the longest. The eBay listing I linked to is the same Nemesis, correct? I could never do what you did but at least this would put the extra trailer to some use.

Thanks!
It was long and hard work, but it was actually quite simple. Just disassemble what is needed, then tape-n-spray, tape-n-spray. The "legs" parts of the trailer were a bit complicated because of the mechanism. Still, pretty straightforward work overall.

Your SG trailer is a MP-10 trailer, right?
I'd love to see a picture.

The Nemesis you linked to is the right one. Appart the troublesome transformation of the arms, he's absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended. ;)^

Yes, an MP-10 trailer. Pretty much all I would need to do is replace the faction symbol, and maybe replace the purple with a teal color.

Pretty nice and simple!

What I would do is to change the purple for silver, and fill between the lines in teal.

As for the faction symbol, just take a sharp knife or screwdriver and pop it off. You could use the keychains that I used for something effective and cool.
