I still don't quite get Hasbro's strategy. I guess now we know they wanted to do 3 exclusives basing one on each of the previous lines
Blast Off representing CW (though he comes with Prime Armor and a Prime that's already getting a release..?)
Repugnus representing TR (comes with a TM, makes sense...)
and Punch/Counterpunch representing PotP (coming with Solus, a new exclusive Prime)
So...What does Leader Nemesis Prime represent? Deluxe Wreck-Gar? or are these just "more" exclusives? Also...how are Amalgamous and Nexus going to be released?
Part of me still hopes the 4 remaining Primes that don't have pretenders will still get a standard release, but it doesn't seem likely at this point.

Pretty sure Blast Off is coming with the Combiner Wars HFG. Plus, I'm all for this. I don't mix CW with UW. And I would love to have Shuttle Blast Off in (objectively better) Hasbro colors. PLUS that means that I can put brown-jet-boi on Galvatronus.
Also, I think Wreck-Gar and Nemesis are just 'store' exclusives whereas the other three are released along the lines of Grotusque and Arcee.
I also hope that the remaining Prime Masters will get a proper, non-exclusive, Pretender release. What's the f***ing point if they can't match each other.

looks at pic above , I guess its possible, though it does say its only a reference and may not indicate the final product appearance . I thought for sure other pics showed him with the Prime Armor Hand. Anyway, I don't mind mixing UW and CW at all, but I am happy for those that don't have him to get a chance to get him.
My CW Plane Blast Off and Vortex (which I consider to be separate characters form the real UW Blast Off and Vortex) are already used as limbs for Grand Scourge.

Hope it sells well all the same, might get more beast wars stuff but figures that don't have all their modes isn't something I want to see in any line with todays standards.
That's exactly what I'm referring about.
How should we call this ? BeeWuuun ?
This toy has all his modes.
No he doesn't have the same modes of the previous Optimal Optimus incarnation. Because it's not the old toy, it's another incarnation.
If you want the Optimal Optimus who transforms into Gorilla, tank and plane, then get the old toy.
This toy is the version which transforms from Classic Primal to Optimal.
Really, after all these years of BW fans mocking G1 fans who can't accept Optimus to be a gorilla, I never though we would see BW fans not accepting Optimal under a new form.

They've always been that way from what I can tell. It's nice that because of their location they can offer cheaper retail price, but the shipping costs to North America more than negate any perceived discount. The only time I've ordered something from RK was only on one occasion when I absolutely knew I could not get it anywhere else for a decent price.

Same with me. Shipping there is very high, and Blastoff has a listing on Amazon, so I am content to wait.
Cannot wait to get him. Now just gotta wait out that golden Starscream (maybe, we'll see, Dragstrip is ok with a no) and Megascream will be perfect.

You’re reading way too much into it. It’s not representing the trilogy. It’s just giving everyone what they want. People want a shuttle blastoff. Here he is. People want the last monsterbot. Here is is. People want punch/counterpunch okay here you go. We have an Optimus Prime and need to get use of the mold so here’s your black retool. We’ve got the groove mold so let’s make another wreck-gar. That’s all it is. If it wasnything else it’d have a tag line like “Prime Wars Trilogy!” On the packaging

I live in the Chicago area and found the wave 2 legends and deluxes at Walmart when they were first being reported as out (Jan/Feb?). I travel a bit for work and was fortunate to find the prime masters in southeast Michigan at a Target in March, and found Rodimus Unicronus at a Walmart in Shreveport, LA the same month. I haven't seen any of them a second time until just recently seeing an Alpha Trion prime master at Walmart this week.
Any way you look at it, something weird happened with Wave 2. There is no way they ran a normal production run and sold them all out that quickly, unless one (or more) of the retailers has a giant supply in a warehouse waiting for all the wave 1 shelf warmers to be bought, which I highly doubt.
That is why I'm glad I jumped on the BBTS preorder for everything I want from wave 3 at just slightly above retail and super cheap shipping (except for Monkey Prime). If I do luck out and find them in stores, I'll just cancel the preorder. Monkey Prime I'll hope to find in stores, but if not, I'm okay with skipping him.
Not necessarily in response to your exact post(so forgive the context of mine) but wave two was weird. Except in my case I would routinely find only certain size classes available depending on where I was. One Walmart or Target may not have any, another may only have the leader class, while the very next may have deluxes and so and so forth. The only constant that I saw was, no prime masters. I just only recently found Alchemist Prime and Alpha Trion. That was really weird. I feel like they would be the most heavily ordered size class due to price point alone.

I see the usual 3rd party amazon sellers have then for double to triple price.
I never saw them in any NW ohio store, and they appeared once at various stores in SE michigan, then huge restocks of wave 1. I snagged them when I saw them, so I am not concerned for myself, but something is definitely weird this time around.
This has never happened with an early Generations wave before to me.
I wonder if anyone could press on the hasbro guys at SDCC as to what the difference is, especially since a lot of the local store shelves are empty of generations figures.
Keep in mind this is a rumor BUT according to a Walmart stock manager Hasbro is holding back on stock until TRU finishes liquidation. I think it has to do with making sure that figures don't go for clearance prices.

If Hasbro was shipping toys to TRU on credit, and TRU goes into bankruptcy, then Hasbro would still be waiting to receive their money. I'm not 100% sure how that would affect clearance pricing though.

I was not the first one to come up with the Prime Wars Trilogy representation theory, I was just piggybacking off of what others in this thread have already stated. Also the idea of "giving fans what they want" is very subjective. I, for instance, did not have any desire for any of these.
Zeedust wrote:o.supreme wrote:My CW Plane Blast Off and Vortex (which I consider to be separate characters form the real UW Blast Off and Vortex)
I'll give you Blast Off, but what did Vortex do to piss you off?
Oh nothing. It's just that if the representation is different than the original (CW Vortex has 2 blades instead of 4), then I figure they can be a new character. Part of my formula for creating 20 wholly unique combiners was to make a basic rule- if the only difference between UW & CW is color scheme, they are the *same*, but if there is an actual physical sculpted difference, then to me, they are different characters. Now of course there is some exception to this, but basically this entails CW Blast Off, Vortex, and all the Technobots.
I started with UW (which gives me 11 unique combiners). Then add Unique CW Box Sets (excluding G2), that gives me 3 more for a total of 14. Then add Botcon combiners (Predacus and Magnaboss), that's 16. Add in Club Exclusives (Thunder Mayhem & Wreckage), that's 18.
Then there's Grand Scourge, who picks up the loose limbs of CW Vortex, Blast Off, Offroad, and BC 2016 Terrorsaur. Also there's Optimus Maximus who picks up the loose limbs of Alpha Bravo, Rook, Smokescreen , and SG Starscream, which makes 20.
Then there's my eventual grand plan, which would be to have a legit Modulus, and replace Op Max's missing limbs with Comic Book Ratchet and SG Ratchet. Then you add in the G2 combiners, and that gives you a grand total of 24 (12 good and 12 evil)*basically* no duplication (it fudges a little, but you get the idea), or left over limbs
As for PotP, yeah there's 3 incomplete ones so far, but I guess we have to wait and see what Hasbro's plans entail for WFC. I know most fans are probably sick of the whole limb gimmick, but I just hope we get a couple to finish what is left hanging from PotP. And yes I know Hasbro doesn't have to finish anything. They may never have intended for Starscream, Elita F1tB1t1t, or Inferno to be complete, but as a fan of Combiners, I can dream right?

Tough to do now, but if you can find a cheap extra CW Wheeljack, CW Trailbreaker, CW Air Raid or CW Ironhide, you can use some of the toyhax stickers sets to get a new unique bot. Likewise for Torsos, CW Battle Core Prime and CW Scattorshot also have sets. Prime particularly has 3 sets (Ultra Magnus, Thunderclash and Nova Prime) and I'm kicking myself for not stocking up when I found them at Marshalls for $13 a couple years back.
I myself have a unique Stickerous Maximus combiner using BC Prime as Nova Prime, Wheeljack as X-Tinguisher (Exhaust was also an option) Ironhide as Smolder, Trailcutter as the Fallen and Offroad as, well Offroad covered by smiley face stickers I let my 7 year old apply while I was applying the others. She got to "help" much to Offroad's chagrin.

Interestingly, mine doesn't seem to have that problem. Admittedly my Rippersnapper seems to go together a lot better than most, so maybe I just got a "good" copy? Otherwise just make sure everything else is all pegged in properly (I can see in the third photo that his kneepads aren't pegged into their slots in his back), or else that'll mess with his legs even more.

Wouldn't affect ours as all the TF's are long gone except some random RID and Infernocus. You'd think Hasbro would be willing to ship some stuff out to other retail outlets. Our TRU never got anything past wave 1 of the POTP stuff that I know of. No Studio Series either. In fact, I'd have to think most of the wave 2 stuff never made it there to any of the locations as the bankruptcy stuff was already in the works was it not? Hasbro would have been fools to send any new products to them at that point. Chances are they knew something was up before we did.

These are all my scramble city style combiners. Volcanicus is still using Jazz and Dreadwing, and StarKaiser is filling in for Liokaiser at the moment. Devastator and Defensor are chilling elsewhere, but this is it. By the end of PotP, I hope to have Megascream with his con flyers (and Dragstrip or gold Scream), Abominus, and maybe Elita Inf!nite or Infernocus, I don't know if I will actually leave them combined with the remaining bot limbs including Wreck-Gar. And Predaking, but he's not scramble, so slightly different there.
Actually, here are the remaining of my combiners:

That will be my dilemma! If I get Gold Scream, it would round off a combiner of flyers with 2 Starscreams in it, plus the Dread bros and Blastoff. But then the Dragstrip I have sitting around wouldn't have a spot, even if he would be a bit out of place as a F1 car on a flying combiner. But then Gold Scream will be a bit pricey, so I'm uncertain at this point.
But he would look really cool. I wouldn't put it past someone to somehow get 4 and make a golden Megascream

They are tampographs, not stickers, though they are meant to mimic some G1 toy sticker detailing. No Deluxe sized figures or smaller have yet had stickers in the Generations line, outside of smaller partner figures included with some Titan Class releases. Stickers have mostly come on only Voyager, Leader, and Titan figures for now.

Look at the picture of the figure in the box again. Check the lines between the colors on all the shapes on those chest details. You'll find that the lines aren't crisp and that there is paint slop and bleed over. There is some bad alignment on some of the details two when you compare one side to the other. They should be mirror images, but some details are offset a bit. This is common with tampographed paint details that are very intricate. Stickers would have perfectly clean lines between all the different colored details, because they're printed with much more sophisticated machines with laser accuracy. People were making the same assumptions about the Dinobots in PotP, but they were wrong too. It's all paint and no stickers with Deluxe and below (for the most part).

I think the point is better made with some lovely pics. Before that, it's worth mentioning that when TakaraTomy first designed it, they went for cartoon-accuracy. They achieved it by having the shuttle's nose compress into the (stuck-out) chest.
They did have the foresight to sculpt chest-like detailing where the port is, which was used for his retool Strafe:
... and again for Shuttler aka Movor, as Car Robots aka RiD 2001 suddenly went toy-accurate which the G1 cartoon was not. Note the orientation of the arms compared to Blast Off, emphasis on the elbows and hands.
It's the "toy-accurate" Shuttler orientation Hasbro used, but you can still get the cartoon-accurate one by switching the arms and turning the upper body 180. Finally, Hasbro Blast Off should benefit from a minor retool introduced by Strafe, that made the head panel less prone to popping off.
Me needs Blast Off so badly, my Onslaught is lonely.
Posted by Bounti76 on June 25th, 2018 @ 2:05am CDT
It's more faithful to the G1 toy colors, and also sports some significant changes from the UW version- the arms and physical orientation of the figure have been switched to give the figure an even closer match to his original toy, and there are tampographed details on his chest that mimic the stickers found on his 1986 toy release. The change from the shuttle-gut to a more G1 toy accurate look aren't entirely new, though; this chest orientation had been used for the UW Baldigus use of the mold, Movor.
As we can also see from the photos, Blast Off will come in a box with a front panel featuring him in space shuttle mode, that will open to showcase the figure in package.
We also get our very first look at the included Prime Master, Megatronus, who sports a very nice looking deco of translucent red plastic and two different shades of grey.
It's interesting to note that while he's being released during the Power of the Primes line, with POTP style artwork, the text inside the box flap refers to Combiner Wars, and that line's logo appears on the packaging, along with a Prime Wars Trilogy logo.
So what do you think of these new images? Are you more excited to get this figure than before? Please let us know in the comments below!
