We have an English language review of the upcoming Transformers War for Cybertron Earthrise WFC E11 leader class Optimus Prime. This toy looks rather different from what we have seen previously. For comparison, we have posted below the official image from Takara (which should be the same as the Hasbro version). Not only are the hands in the review blue but the peg between his legs is split. This shows that there were indeed some last minute changes done here, and more than just one. Let us know what you think and if these changes are enough to woo you into paying 50$ for this figure. We thank fellow Seibertronian Madproject for letting us know of this review.

The elbow pieces should've been red.

Ok, with Phamduc, the random Instagram pics, and Tonton all separately showing the hands and codpiece as painted blue, I think we can all safely assume it's not some other earlier version like a handful elsewhere were saying, and is in fact the final figure. I am SO grateful. So so so so so grateful. He's basically perfect. I could've done with the yellow eyes, but blue's fine too.

Now the only thing it needs is the middle pelvis rectangle to be yellow and to have the yellow arrow decal on the forearms, which Reprolabels will likely fix easily.

Now I don't have to explain to my son why the hands are gray. WIN!

I understand that they want to make it different than the Siege figure, but if you're going to make a seminal OP figure in the Earthrise line that comes with the trailer:

1: why break up the trailer with a shield gimmick and not have functional regular doors?
2: the colors of plastic and lack of paint literally make the trailer look like it died in the 86 movie.. lolz
3: eyes are blue now, but the face behind the mask is a dark blue? meh yay for blue hands at least.
4: elbows should be red, I agree with previous commenter
5: reprolabels can fix the yellow arrows and center rectangle on crotch piece, but couldn't they have too?
6: those gray panels on the insides of the legs where the trailer connector port REALLY bother me.. they were blue in one of the promo images, and it really made the legs feel cohesive. Now I can't unsee them.
7: where is ROLLER?
8: enough with the transforming gun gimmick..
9: definitely should've had the tires in the back fold up in a way that you don't see the rectangle in the back
10: final thoughts: the mold is good, but lack of Roller and the back door on the trailer bleh, and the need to get a professional custom painter to repaint it would be a hassle. do we even know if the siege cars fit inside the trailer? I hate to say it, but with the reprolabels on Siege Prime that I have... I think I'm going to pass on this one. :(

I wonder if studio series Optimus Prime can use this trailer?
Re: Review of Earthrise Optimus Prime Shows Blue Hands and More Changes (2045258)

The trailer doors are like that likely to give the trailer base mode compatibility with the rest of the base playsets in Earthrise, like Ironworks. The friction hinges on the top of the shield are of the A.I.R. Lock style that is the new line-wide "gimmick" for Earthrise. I would have rather had the normal doors and have the shield be a pull out ramp for the trailer, but Hasbro likes to keep it's "parts count" low nowadays.

Blue eyes is always a yay for me with Optimus, though I can certainly agree that yellow provides a better contrast.

The elbow joints should be red in Optimus, yes, but the dark grey doesn't look bad, at least. Not like the blue plastic elbows we saw in some of the recent Takara Tomy photography!

It would have been nice had they colored in the yellow rectangle on the pelvis. That's a weird omission, but the lack of yellow arrows on the wrists isn't as big a deal to me. That's not a detail from either the show or the original toy. I'd have to do some digging, but I think it's one of those weird things that happened because of the old Studio OX promotional drawings and such, kind of like the silver painted shin vents that should be solid blue like the rest of the lower legs.

The gray panels on the insides of the legs did bother me at first, but they bother me much less so now. I think the additional blue paint apps on the fists and pelvis have helped make that issue much less drastic instead of "one more thing wrong" with the deco.

It would be nice to have Roller with the whole package, but he might be a later Battle Master release, or part of a Micromaster set. There are a few other modern Roller options out there too, like the one that came with Legends Optimus Prime in Thrilling 30.

I think the way this Earthrise Optimus Prime transforms is just fine. The kibble on the back is no worse than what we've seen with other iterations. He's had a big bumper butt before with "Classics," Combiner Wars prime had a bunch of combiner-related compromises, and Siege Prime has a huge flat panel on his back that you can see clearly from the front. The tires in the small of the back I think may be another Studio OX thing, too.

Would have been nice if the trailer control room could have all the options of the g1 toy plcement wise and if it could have had an opening canopy/fit a titan master. The hands being jointed doesnt really seem to have a purpose or to be able to pose fingers other than slightly open or closed fist with out it looking weird.

This is actually interesting. The legs transformation is muck simpler than i expected, i was expecting it yo have few more folding like siege version, but it works, so, oh well. The upper body transformation is really neat. It use the same trick as siege where the front anf dide panels are opened and then folded it, except instead of bringing it to the back, it actually folds inside the chest, which really cleans his look. This actually reminds me of rid vehicon leg transformation. Not sure if i'm going to pick up, as i don't need multiple optimus, but this is definitely one of the best voyager optimus so far.

I ordered him but am still conflicted cos of siege prime... if only they made the latter more Cybertronian. Am pleased that the transformation is quite a bit more different that I had thought it’d be.

Still looking forward to him and hope they release some sort of roller figure. I recall his original long form bio stating that prime was in essence three components... cab, trailer and roller. Think the little guy deserves some chug homage.

Hope that if they do a megs, he’s even more diff than his siege form.... would in a way make sense if they attempt some kind of gun (nerf) gun again... or maybe a chopper form as a nod to TFA

So what do we even know of the 'mercenary' faction which gets mentioned? I assume those are the guys working for the Quintessons which have been also hinted at/leaked (if true!) for Earthrise? If they are a new feature of the line I'm a bit curious as to why none has been shown yet. Do they appear in later waves? Do they have their own logo? What is their roster? I'm willing to be its going to be extremely disappointing as to not get my hopes too high.

I mean, I'm currently hoping that Doubledealer and his Powermasters, in addition to Armada Sideways and his headmasters will get new figures as a result of the Mercenary faction, but I'm probably going to get disappointed

I mean, personally, I'd love to see a voyager, maybe taller deluxe, based on IDW Roller, with one of his accessories being a G1 Roller drone or something to that degree. That way, IDW fans get a Roller that isn't only available through an expensive boxset, G1 fans get a Roller for Earthrise Prime, and Hasbro gets more money because some people will buy the figure exclusively for G1 Roller

I think it's more the characters rather than the "faction". The lines have had only Autobots and Decepticons as faction for years, because like in real life, there's only good and evil 8-}

I don't think there's any reason to assume that Mercenaries are working for the Quintessons. In the TCG, they're characters working for themselves or for the highest bidder as bounty hunters or medics. Of course, I'm also skeptical of the Quintessons "leak," so I'm not inclined to fit them in anyway.

The TCG cards have a Mercenaries faction logo in the corner. It will be interesting to see if Hasbro puts them on toys or not, since the probable figures have historical factions. Personally, I would rather have a Decepticon logo on a Lockdown, but I have the G1ish RotF figure anyway, so it doesn't matter much either way.

The Mercenary faction was announced for Earthrise by Hasbro at NYCC in a press release. This is explicitly in the context of the toyline, so it's not just for the TCG.
"As the battle rages through space, success depends on who can best adapt to the battlefield beyond. But it’s not just the battlefield that commands adaptability. Allegiances can shift just as rapidly, with a new Mercenary faction introduced into the Earthrise world alongside the Autobots and Decepticons."

Honestly if we get a CHUG/G1-ified Lockdown like we got Barricade I'd be so happy that I could be annoyed at the full Earthrise roster but take it purely on getting Lockdown. Honestly he doesn't even need his own mold: a Wheeljack retool with a more aggressive-looking altmode and a new head is all he need to work right for me.
Re: Review of Earthrise Optimus Prime Shows Blue Hands and More Changes (2045335)
Posted by AcademyofDrX on November 23rd, 2019 @ 9:49pm CST
As for the roster, there are plenty of obvious candidates to speculate on. The TCG characters ate probably the most logical place to start. The artwork for Detritus uses Siege Hound as the model, so that would work as a redeco if Hasbro is willing to use Siege molds in Earthrise. (The vehicle is ostensibly Cybertronian, but it is no less realistic for an Earth vehicle than, say, Hound's Combiner Wars alt-mode.)

Lockdown is another slam dunk because his alt-mode and transformation scheme are so close to ER Wheeljack. His car front / feet would need to have a change to accommodate the engine block, and that could throw off the proportions, but I think it could work with only minor retooling. Lockdown is such an interesting character and makes a logical fit for the narrative, especially if IDW's new continuity leans on the Drift stories of the last one. I don't know if it's notable, but the TCG art is based on that model from the comics and the aforementioned RotF toy rather than a potential ER design.

Deadlock and/or Drift are virtually guaranteed. I'm sure he'll show up in the comics sooner than later, plus he's in Cyberverse. He's overdue for a Generations figure, too. Doubledealer is my other major pick. We've already gotten a triple-changing leader with Astrotrain, and he's the original G1 mercenary. I'd be very disappointed if we don't see him.

The TCG has a Cybertron Mudflap character, of all things. There is no reason to assume that means he would be in Earthrise, though like Detritus he's an obvious choice as a redeco, in this case from Grapple. More generally, I could absolutely see characters from non-G1 toylines being ported in as Mercenaries, especially if they have existing G1 names but fundamentally different alt-modes. (I'm thinking of Cyclonus or Jetfire as an example, though I have no reason to think they would be included, just that they might be Mercenaries if they were.)

Obviously, if there are Quintessons, and if the "Earthrise" concept is only loosely followed, then it would make sense to have Sharkticons or Allicons.

I'd more expect to see a new Lockdown toy in the Cyberverse line what with his frequent appearances in that show as a part of Megatron's team of Decepticons.

Regarding potential Mercenary characters, what if we see some Beast Wars characters like Tarantulas, a character who was pretty much defined as being a backstabbing double agent who did whatever it took to achieve his own goal, and maybe a new version of the Ravage from that series, who, if I recall correctly, was described as a mercenary who worked for the Predacons.

Definitely a long shot, but I think it'd be nice to see a new Tarantulas

This is incorrect. Hasbro's official text promoting Earthrise, independent from the TCG's Siege II, explicitly references the Mercenary faction:

"The siege is over, but the War for Cybertron has just begun. The Autobots and Decepticons have left Cybertron, but their battle rages on as they hurtle through space in pursuit of the Allspark. With unforeseen dangers lurking ahead and the Decepticons closing in from behind, the only way out for the Autobots is to find a way through. Both sides must navigate the perils of space and instantly adapt to battle anywhere in the cosmos. With the highly advanced A.I.R. (Adaptable Interconnection Retrofitter) Locks system, the fighters don’t head to the battlefield — they become it. Bots capable of converting into Modular Battle Stations can A.I.R.-Lock together in custom configurations to fit the needs of battle. As the battle rages through space, success depends on who can best adapt to the battlefield beyond. But it’s not just the battlefield that commands adaptability. Allegiances can shift just as rapidly, with a new Mercenary faction introduced into the Earthrise world alongside the Autobots and Decepticons."

This text was provided to press outlets at NYCC 2019, where it was carried by sites like Bleeding Cool and MU Review, and it is also included in the Product Information for Earthrise figures on various storefronts like BBTS and TFSource.

(Long Time lurker, first time poster and buyer)

Hi everyone, have'nt picked up a transformers toy in over 20 years, but the war for cybertron line got me hooked.

What started with a Sideswipe purchase for the nostalgia value, quickly turned into amazing at the articulation and detail, before grabbing Hound and Barricade.

Now I'm torn between grabbing a few more Siege figures or waiting for Earthrise, any tips from long time collectors? Are we likely to see a lot of the Siege figures re-done in earth style....like Prime and Starscream?

The figure that has me most excited is weirdly Ironworks. Oh and I'd second a Lockdown Mercenary in this line. Would'nt say no to Jazz either.

You might be able to pass on some of the Siege figures, like Optimus and Starscream (and Thundercracker and Skywarp), but I don't think many others will see Earthrise redoes any time soon, such as Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Mirage, Hound, etc. You can wait and see, but the after market prices on last year's Transformers releases usually go up fast and stay there for a good while. It all depends on how deep a dive you're willing to take on collecting.

That actually made me just realize why the Decepticons got truly Cybertronian modes, while the Autobots got more Earth-like modes. They went with heavy hitters getting weird modes because we're always going to get a new Prime, Megatron, Starscream, or Soundwave, while less frequent characters got more Earth-like modes because they're probably not planning to touch them for a while. Especially because the most recent figures for most of those characters was CW, and many of them looked nothing like how they should have looked

Thanks, think I'll grab Soundwave and Spinister next.

I also heard someone mention on here the idea that the rumoured Quintessa figure could be a micromasters base like Ironworks.

Just an idea but anyone think it would be really cool if she was Cybertronian architecture as opposed to earth style. It could make both an awesome robot mode and multiple alt modes like Ironworks. Be great for display if you were creating a Cybertron scene.

Quintessa being a figure like Ironworks was my wish but it's such a long shot that it could probably hit Alpha Centuri from where I'm stood.

Longshot but fun to imagine.

I guess they'll have a few more like Ironworks same as with the weaponizers from siege.

Just will they stick to those micromaster bases from g1 or try new things. Ironworks does look like a great figure to me and one I'll pick up, but the other toys in the micromasters lien are not super memorable and would still love space in earthrise for a Tracks, Jazz and Ramjet Maybe even some new bots.

While it would be nice if they created some more new micro base battleizers, I doubt we'll see more than the original 4 G1 micromaster bases in this format for the time being, manly as we still only have 3 weaponiser molds (although who knows if a weaponiser Fasttrack is coming out in future for Titan Scorponok).

I'd be shocked if we didn't get Fasttrack for Scorponok. Though, there is the potential that he'll be included in the box with Scorponok

3 micro bases sounds about right. Enough to have some diversity, but still leaving plenty of space for other bots.

Like it would be great to see the mercenary faction become a real thing, with 3 Mercs in this line. Lockdown, Deadlock and Detritus

If they were all deluxe class, and with the 5 we have announced already still leaves quite a few spots. Provided we get a similar number of deluxes to the siege line.

All just guess work, though would love to see that happen.

Does anyone think Red Wing might make the transfer to Earthrise like Starscream and Co.? I really hope so considering how much better the jet fighter mold looks vs the Cybertronian jet IMHO. :VEHI:

The three coneheads and the three original seekers will have to come first. Next, Sunstorm and/or Slipstream, maybe Acid Storm in a camouflage deco. That puts us up to, like, nine? Then maybe we would see Red Wing.

Don't get your hopes up, is what I'm saying.

You mean a deluxe like Six-gun and Cog? If that were to happen, would he get a new mold, or just be a repaint? Maybe a gray and orange Brunt?

He'd have to be his own mold in order to look like Fasttrack.

I wouldn't bet on it. Since Hasbro seemed to focus on Seekers who only/mainly appeared on Cybertron for who they did outside the Main 3, I'm betting the Earthrise mold will mainly be used for Seekers who mainly appeared on Earth, and even aside from that, outside of the Main 3, the only character they did on the Siege mold that feels even remotely likely to be double-dipped by Hasbro is Acid Storm.

Exactly that.
If he were a repaint, of one of the existing weaponisers, I think the better choice would be Cog, as it is the closest of the 3 to Fasttrack, but ideally he'd would get his own mold.

Agreed. I expect dudes like Sunstorm, G2 Ramjet and Action Master Thundercracker from the ER mold, but not Red Wing.

Though I wouldn't mind if HasTak surprised us ;)
