Thanks to an unexpected source in the form of Previews World, we now have some new stock photos for the recently announced MP-38+ Burning Convoy!
Burning Convoy is a redeco of the MP-32 mold in a garish translucent red in homage to the original Burning Convoy toy, based on the color Optimus Primal AKA Beast Convoy took when he and Lio Convoy united to defeat Majin Zarak in the Beast Wars II Movie. This redeco is the MP-32 repaint since it does not come with the Mutant Mask that MP-38 did.
This figure is set to be available in March of 2020 for the reasonable price of $111.99. Check out the product description and photos below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

You're gonna tell me his head is blue here?
Doesn't look like it to me.
Very dark blue. Perhaps, but certainly not what's on the MP.

Doesn't need to be HD for me to tell that it's still not blue.
People posted those screenshots over at TFW too.
Again, if it's a very dark blue, I could see that being the case.

Yeah, the gold flames on his beast mode chest are sorely missed.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Seeing this today with the new images, I actually like it more now. I wish he had some more gold and some less bright blue on his head, but he's still looking pretty good.

He even had them in one shot (the only shot that actually gave a clear enough look at his gorilla chest) in the movie.

Perhaps, with a little Head Canon, the "Season One" body for this guy...

The front of the box features the new MP-38+ in all his bright translucent red glory in both robot and beast mode, and the back advertises the play features and the accessories for the figure. The figure is inspired by the Burning Convoy form that Beast Convoy AKA Optimus Primal transformed into when he and Lio Convoy united in burning justice during the Beast Wars II movie. This Masterpiece release was timed to come out just one month after the new Lio Convoy toy, and that toy is begging for a Flash Lio Convoy repaint to go with this new Primal.

One day, if I find him heavily discounted in a sale, I might get the toy recolour for Primal. Otherwise this one will be sitting on my MP Beast Shelf with full faceplate. The gold lips do look a little silly...

Burning Convoy is based on the Burning Justice upgrade that Optimus Primal AKA Beast Convoy attained during the Beast Wars II movie, when he was pulled through time to the future to fight alongside Lio Convoy and his Maximals. This Masterpiece figure interprets that with translucent red plastic for a loud and garish looking figure, but one that is pretty dang cool. He also uses some gold accents, and includes a small sample of accessories compared to the previous releases of the figure, including the swords and some alternate faces.

So, quite unexpectedly I had a delivery today. Alongside a bonus, random pin:
...for some reason.
I haven't had a chance to open him yet, it's been one of those days. But that begins and ends my personal purchases until Scorponok and MP Tigatron, later this year.

Finally got him out of the box, so let's talk about Burning Convoy.
He is exactly as sturdy and well built as the original MP Optimus Primal. Hardly a surprise, given he is a redeco. I'd forgotten how easy the transformation is, in comparison to the more complex of this line (Dinobot and Megatron). Although I was a little rusty early on, a little applied logic will see him into Bot Mode before you know it. Yes, of course the first thing I did in this form was remove the ridiculous 'Gold Lips' face. Much like Shadow Panther, I think Burning looks better with his unique face plate, as opposed to a recoloured one based on the original figure.
So lets get to the elephant in the room: The Clear Plastic. To HasTak's credit, the clear plastic is mostly cosmetic. The structural joints of the figure are in fact, regular plastic. Which is a relief, given the clear stuff is notorious for cracking if you even look at it wrong. Knees and elbows, where there is clear plastic, are also supported so they don't bare all of the weight and tension of the screws.
Ultimately, he is just Red Primal. More of the same and I think it is a testament to the strength of the MP-32 mold, that he is still inarguably the most solid of the MP Beast Wars line to date. 8.5/10

Indeed.
We do still have a couple more potential variants, should Takara choose to go down that route. But, considering the Season One line is supposedly only Fourteen characters long, I hope they leave this mold be, for now. Inclusive of Tigatron, we currently have nine BW MP figures. Three of them are Primal and two are Cheetor.
