Check out this unintentional bit of imagery showcasing text for a couple of items you don't normally see on the packaging of children's toys: Cigarrettes and the Lottery! It's not a big deal, just kind of something funny. Looks like someone wasn't paying attention. Oops!

Hopefully this is considered something really minor which doesn't require a recall on this highly desired toy.

No offense, but posting this certainly won't help matters, at all. I realize Hasbro did this unintentionally, and it fits because it looks like a scene ripped right out of the movie(s), and it shouldn't be there, but drawing this kind of attention to it is only going to help make matters worse.

I think posting this was a bad idea, no matter who would've posted it.

I don't think there will be a recall, but I do think there will be a packaging change, and I'll bet these cigarette originals will climb in price down the road.

I appreciate you being able to take my comments as such. I'm glad they were taken as I intended. I do think parents groups are going to have a field day with this one. And this time Hasbro might've done themselves some damage. The groups might actually win this one because it looks like they're advocating both cigarettes and gambling. They're not, but you won't be able to talk to the groups about it.

Someone's always advocating something, even if it's ridiculous.

This is a very minor issue in my opinion and almost a non issue. Most kids don't pay attention to the packaging, they just tear it open and toss it in the trash. People are too overprotective with kids today. People just need to lighten up.

Hysterical recall due in in 5...4...3...2...

o god...

2 things will happen here jsut you wait

1-hasbro will do a recall cuz they can't have the PR nightmare that would entail.

2-MISB HA Jazz's with that packaging will become stupidly expensive...get yours now

For such a small deal it sure gets blown up out of porportion. Hasbro will probably change the packaging on the next runs, thats a good thing. Those of you with this original packaging have got yourselves a collectible. Makes me wanna go buy one and store it away.

THANK YOU! This is NOTHING. They will change the packaging I betcha cuz some hypersensitive PC turd will claim this adversely affected his poor, vulnerable child. Then they'll send him to a counselor who will diagnose him with ADHD and prescribe him some Ritalin.

Can ya tell I don't like how wimpy and PC our society is today?

I wonder where those images are taken from? I want to say Chicago, but I fairly certain that other states/cities have a Powerball, and of course Cigarettes.

Isn't this image from the city scene at the end of the first movie?

Since Jazz was slagged before the end of the first movie, yes, yes it would...

I gotta go with the earlier replies. This is news? No offence meant, but the packaging doesn't seem like newsworthy stuff. I could be wrong though. If I grab this, the packaging will hit the can about 15minutes after Jazz is free, with the motorbike. I could care less about Epps, but I missed out on Alternators Jazz. Then again, my Alt collection is 2 and a forklift versus 12, Autobot favor, so Dead End and Swindle would probably prefer I not, or find them a Barricade. (he never made it to Central Indiana that I know of)

It's definitely news worthy stuff. At a minimum, it's an interesting piece of conversation about an unusual piece of imagery that ended up on a Transformers packaging. To me, it's newsworthy, especially if the packaging changes at some point.

Since were on the subject.
One time, a while back when I was out of town looking for HFTD figures.
I passed by a mother and her two kids whom seemed to be purchasing a number of Hot Wheels.
Normaly I wouldn't pay a bit of attention to people in the store, but this time they caught my eye when I saw that the mother appeared to just be placing whatever the kids pointed at in the cart.
"Spoiled brats" I thought. "then again, I was pretty spoiled when I was a kid."
My gaze then turned to the mother's hand as she placed another package of Hot Wheels in the cart.
I saw that there was a Nintendo DS game inside of the cart as well. Grand Theft Auto...
I then looked up at the mother's face, and saw that she was on her cell phone.
Had a hard time avoiding my letting out a little chuckle at that point.

The moral of the story? Massive stereotypes do exist. Oh, and that parent's don't pay enough attention to their kids nowadays. Unless of course, it gives them a lack luster excuse to sue somebody. Otherwise they just send their kids to school and pay as little attention to them as possible.

It's newsworthy if only because of the amusement factor or advertising age-restricted things in a kid's toy. That combined with the warning that the price of these will likely skyrocket is definitely news.

This is 100% taken from photos of some convenience store in Pennsylvania.

At the bottom left corner is the real Pennsylvania Lottery Logo:

And PA has a "State Minimum" on Cigarettes.

This is a real photo that got adjusted in Photoshop to look hand painted.

Good catch Razorclaw. Sadly, the cigarette prices in PA haven't been that low in a long time.

A no name store brand of cigarette is $5.00 a pack now. Marlboro and the like are close to $5.75 with tax.

I don't smoke, but my Father does, and it's part of my job to go and buy 'em for him. He always says "When it gets to (insert amount here), I'll quit!" and he said that dollars ago.

His cigarettes alone, break us.

I thought they were almost $10 in New York already... I don't smoke, but if I did, that dollar amount would be enough to make me quit and/or find something else LOL

LMAO !!!

Im gonna try to buy one just because this is really funny. I admit that I have no kids, but I think parents are too paranoid these days and need a reality check. The more you censor every stupid little thing, the more you build a childs curiousity. Parents create their own "evils" by creating issues that dont even need to exist.

Name brand smokes are about $6 here in California. I'm "quitting" because of poverty, not my health. i aint bought a pack in over a month, but i still manage to smoke 1-3 a day. good thing I've never been a heavy smoker to begin with

You know somebody will totally over-react and start threatening hasbro. Even IF you can only read the signs by magnifying an image to an insanely high level. I honestly don't think they'll go so far as to recall it, changing the packaging is the worst they can do.

And what's so "inappropriate." about the lottery? Cigarettes I can see though.

Also, notice how those are the ONLY two signs visible? If you ask me I think that they're there purpose.

Well, in general, the lottery isn't a problem. If you're in the know, most lotteries end up putting their proceeds in local schools, elderly care, etc. People won't recognize that, they'll automatically go to "Lottery = gambling. Gambling's bad, mmmkay?" and silliness will ensue.

*sigh* All this talk about Pontiac is gettin' me down... We have plenty of Solstices around here in south-eastern TN, and it's sad that nobody will ever get a new one again.
As far as the toy goes, I can't wait to get it, and hopefully this little package 'incident' won't make it take longer to hit shelves around here.

I was able to find mine Friday afternoon and the whole background looks like it was a real photo and then had a Photoshop filter applied to it to give it the "film grain" feeling. Ryan's using a high enough megapixel camera that the grain and blur didn't come from the camera but was in the source image.

Heh, got one today, myself, and even my Mom said "Save the package, they might change it for future waves - or even recall it!"

Which I doubt they'd even care enough to do.

On the other hand, holy COW this is the best figure of the line so far! The joints were a bit tighter than I really felt comfortable with, especially the joints on the back fenders, but it is otherwise GORGEOUS. He's remarkably movie accurate, and highly articulated, and the sliding visor gimmick means the top of the head can also flip up - like Ratchet's finishing putting his brain back in a new body, or something. :D

Such a shame the best figure of the line is for a character already dead in the movieverse.

Ugh. I don't normally say this, but I just can NOT get past the heads on those two, at pretty much ANY scale. I made the mistake of getting Deluxe Skids, and decided I WON'T make that mistake at the HA scale, or get ANY version of Mudflap.

Fair enough, although Mudflap is the more odd looking of the two. I dunno why, they just clicked with me for some reason. Although I certainly prefer Skids over him. Eh, they aren't everybody's thing. I think I fit a small percentile of the fandom that does like them.

To avoid the derail in progress, Jazz looks great, Lennox is going in a box and that bike will most likely always be a gun in my collection. Although it is a snazzy looking motorcycle.
