With the first draft of the Angry Films/Dreamworks SKG Transformers movie submitted and approved and Steven Spielberg putting his own people behind adapting the workings of the script, John Rogers' job is done when it comes to the movie at this time. At his
weblog, John Rogers had the following to say in his latest
submission.
"Trans-pals, but you may wish to take a break from inflating my hit count. No further news will be coming out of here for a while -- I won't be working on the movie for the next few months.
Nothing horrible, everything's cool. But I was technically contracted to start another movie when the Transformers gig popped up. The producers of that flick -- including one-of-us Akiva Goldsman -- were real gentlemen about the situation and stepped aside for the duration of the high-intensity TF first draft. They didn't have to, and the fact they did is one of the coolest things I've encountered in my 10-odd years of TV and film writing.
The next Transformers production pass, adressing specific producer notes, will be executed by another writer or set of writers. I'll be off doing this new project, will lock in the shooting draft for Fatal Frame (I meet with the director tomorrow) then will probably swing back in later on for a polish --I'm still under contract for TF. This is all part of the business we call "show", and you should all be assured that the project is a.) on schedule and on track and b.) still has rabidly protective and enthusiastic producers riding herd on it.
But now you only have Don and Tom DeSanto to harass. Sic 'em."

On the board of his private site
www.donmurphy.net, the co-producer of the upcoming Transformers live action movie gave fans some new found hope regarding the movie.
Murphy wrote the following on a
thread on his board.
"The final decision will be made by a director....and has NOT been made yet.
But I would be VERY suprised if Cullen and Welker didn't reprise their famous roles.
Your voices have been heard.
Now move on to something else!"
In recent weeks the rumors had been flying that Steven Spielberg himself has gotten very hands on in the project of the movie. It was recently announce that a director has been appointed by spielberg (according to some sources) and the name of the director to take up the job will be announced before the end of this month.
Don Murphy added to this the following in another
response on his board.
"a want some hidden news tidbits.... Steven has hand picked a writing team to come in and do some quick work on the script that he supervises".

On the heels of the earlier report, that Don Murphy stated that the people working so far on the movie have gotten together to give their approval for the first draft to the upcoming Transformers movie,... John Rogers, writer of the script, which is based on the proposal concept by the movie's second producer, Tom DeSanto, has now released his own comments about his work on his
Blog
"Enough with the begging. Here's a spoiler-free update on where the movie is.
I've turned in a draft. We had a meeting yesterday (hence the light blogging) with all the producers. All are in a good mood over where the first draft landed. I was particularly pleased that Tom DeSanto, who has always been the guy riding the "Transformers are full characters" wagon, is happy with where we wound up in these early days.
All have questions which need answering, and will be answered in what is acceptably called a "producer's pass" which is really the "free-because-my-guild-has-no-stones-and-why-didn't-we strike" pass. Then, we'll continue to tweak as we meet with directors. OR, I'll be fired, and you'll have to hump over to Dean Georgaris or Ferris & Brancato's blog. Then I can finally get rip-roaring drunk over Global Frequency not being picked up.
Security is brutally tight on this flick, and there's no way I'm violating my friendly relationship with the fine Dreamworks folks, who are actually my favorite execs in the industry. I think it does no harm to say:
-- Name your favorites. They're in there.
-- Big. Robot. Fights. Robot vs. Robot (mano a mano). Robots vs. Robots (plural, havoc) Humans vs. Robots. Robots vs. cybernetically enhanced rabbits. Cybernetically enhanced rabbits vs. butler ninjas. Butler ... oh, wait, sorry, different project. But most of that's true.
-- No cute kid sidekicks.
Now go away again.
P.S. -- Oh, and Don was yanking your chain about the Soundwave/Blender thing. He's a vaccuum cleaner. A sexy, sexy vaccuum cleaner".

Don Murphy let it slipon his board that the first draft of the upcoming Transformers movie is finished and is about to be proof read. In his
post Murphy can be quoted as saying the following;
"I got the script last night delivered to my house on silver paper that can't be xeroxed- looks like a pile of tin foil".
As with any draft, the current script is always subject to change. But the first milestone has now officially been passed.
